I’m an affectionate, loyal younger senior with plenty of pep. Sure, I might have a little stiffness, but it doesn’t hold me back. I’m smart, treat-motivated and super-attentive. I enjoy learning new things, playing enrichment games and doing food puzzles. But I don’t have to be active all the time. I love a good belly rub and take plenty of naps. Walks and car rides are fun too!

My current people work from home and I feel more secure when I know where they are. I can spend a half day alone, no problem, and I’ll wait patiently by the door so I can give them a big happy hello when they get home. I haven’t lived with children. I bet I’d like older kids who learn to speak dog language but younger kids may be too unpredictable for me.

Being in a predictable house helps me feel calm. I monitor my surroundings and will let you know when something’s going on outside, but once you show me you understand, I’ll go back to being chill (truth be told, the meds I’m taking help a lot with that).

I bond quickly with my primary people but need encouragement to welcome others into my pack. I didn’t have a lot of experience socializing in my early years so my foster family has been helping me expand my circle. We’ve learned great tips for meeting new people and giving me breaks if I seem overwhelmed. I’m also muzzle trained if unfamiliar people need to get close. I’ve been working with a trainer in Corvallis who understands my fears and how to help me cope with them. If you decide to open your home to me SDRO will provide some training sessions to help us all settle in comfortably.

We haven’t brought other dogs or cats into our circle, but I’m learning to live with them in my neighborhood. Who knows? In time I might warm up to a few but I think I’d rather be the only pet in my home.

I have quite a few friends now and am ready to meet more. How about you?

"JUNO" CHIHUAHUA MIX *good with Cats* "SENIOR DOG RESCUE of OREGON" Corvallis OR

SENIOR DOG RESCUE of OREGON

Chihuahua, Short Coat spayed female, 7Y/4M/3W  10.8 lbs   $200

Hi there! My name is Juno, and I'm a 7-year-old Chihuahua with 11 pounds of love, loyalty, and just the right amount of personality. If you're looking for a little companion who enjoys the quieter side of life, I think we should meet.

Life has taken me on a bit of an unexpected journey. I originally came to my current person as a foster after a family member could no longer keep me. When it became clear my first family wasn't coming back for me, my foster happily stepped up. Unfortunately, health issues now mean they can no longer care for me either. None of this is my fault—I'm simply hoping my next home will be my forever one.

At home, I'm an easy roommate. I spend most of my time relaxing indoors, but I also enjoy exploring a securely fenced yard. I sleep in bed with my person because, honestly, that's one of my favorite places to be! When my human needs to be away, I'm trustworthy enough to have free run of the house for up to about five hours.

I walk nicely on a loose leash and enjoy taking in the sights and smells without dragging you down the sidewalk. I've lived peacefully with cats and have done very well with them. I haven't had the chance to spend time around children or other dogs, so I'd be happiest in a calm home where I don't have to figure all of that out.

One thing you should know is that I like my meals to myself. I'm protective of my food, so it's best if everyone simply lets me eat in peace. It's an easy thing to manage, and I appreciate people who understand my boundaries.

My dream home is a relaxed, quiet place without children, where I can be someone's little shadow, warm the bed at night, and remind you every day that the best things really do come in small packages. If you're ready for a devoted little friend, I'll be waiting.

Hi, I'm Lollie, a 12-year-old Terrier/Chihuahua mix with a big heart packed into my little 12-pound body. My mom has loved me for the past 10 years, but she's losing her housing and can no longer keep me. Her greatest wish is to find me a safe, loving home—but there's one very important request: I'd really love to stay with my best friend, Adastra aka Addy. We've shared our lives together, and having each other makes new places feel a little less scary.

I'm a sweet, gentle girl who gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and people. I can be a little shy when meeting new people, especially men, but once I feel comfortable, I'm a devoted companion who loves to stay close to my person. If you're looking for a loyal little shadow, I might be exactly who you've been searching for.

I'm house trained, crate trained, and well-mannered. I know commands like come, go lay down, and crate. I can climb stairs, hop in and out of the car on my own, and I'm perfectly content spending a normal workday relaxing at home while you take care of your day. I have a couple of medical issues that the kind folks at SDRO have helped me with. I have an enlarged heart so I now take Vetmedin and Furosimide to keep me feeling great. I also need some prescription food to keep my liver in check. No big deal on these things!! I am full of life and energy, and you would never know anything is wrong!!! It is good to be aware though so regular vet visits will be important going forward. I had my teeth cleaned too so that is out of the way.

My favorite things are simple: curling up in a warm lap, soaking up belly rubs, and snuggling as much as possible. Even though I'm in my senior years, I still enjoy playing with other dogs, especially my buddy Adastra. I'll even let you know if someone pulls into the driveway—I like to keep an eye on things!

Addy is younger, playful, and still a little unsure of the world. I think having me around gives her confidence, and she helps keep life fun for me, too. We truly bring out the best in each other.

If you have room in your home and heart for two wonderful girls, you'll be rewarded with twice the love, twice the companionship, and the joy of keeping two best friends together. That's all we're hoping for.

"JUNE" WEIMARANER/German Shorthair Pointer mix "OREGON WEIMARANER RESCUE"

"JUNE" is Available for adoption at OREGON WEIMARANER RESCUE

CURRENT LOCATION:  Tigard, Oregon

JUNE Weimaraner/Labrador, spayed female,  3 yrs 65 lbs ADOPTION FEE: $400

BELIEVED COMPATIBILITY WITH:

CHILDREN:  yes

CATS:  unknown

DOGS: Possibly ok with males

June is a sweet and loving 3-year-old 65 pound female Weimaraner/German Shorthaired Pointer mix who would make a wonderful addition to the right family. She is a friendly, family-oriented girl who does great with both adults and children and loves being around her people.

Right now June enjoys getting her exercise in the backyard.  However, she really needs much more activity.  She has had limited access to being out in the world and would benefit from a family that would get her the activity and socialization that a young Weim needs.  She does ok on walks with a harness and leash but would benefit from some additional leash training. She is house-trained and knows several commands, including sit, lay down, and gentle. She loves treats and is very gentle when taking them from your hand.

When meeting new people, June can be a little excited and hyper at first, but she is friendly and affectionate. She will also let you know when someone is at the door with a bark, making her a good little watchdog.

Unfortunately, June is being rehomed because her older female housemate and her are not getting along.  Because of that we believe June may do best in a home where she is the only dog. She has never been around cats, so her compatibility with cats is unknown.

She can get a little nervous during fireworks, but otherwise she is a happy, loving girl who enjoys relaxing with her family. One of her favorite things is a good resin bone—and, of course, treats!

June is intact and will need to be spayed once adopted into her new home.  OWR will cover the cost of the surgery.

June is looking for a loving forever home where she can be the center of attention and give her family all the love she has to offer. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, family-friendly companion, June could be your girl!  Please complete an application if you are interested in June.

SENIOR DOG RESCUE of OREGON

BUFFY  Retriever, Chocolate Labrador / Poodle, Standard spayed female, 11Y/5M/3W  40 lbs  $200

*Housetrained
*Not Good with Cats
Hi, I’m Buffy, and I’m an 11-year-old, 40-pound chocolate Labrador/Standard Poodle mix looking for a soft place to land and a family to love. I’ve been with my family since I was just 12 weeks old, so finding a new home is a very difficult change for all of us. Because of a serious family medical situation, they can no longer give me the safe, stable life I deserve. What they want most is to know I’ll be loved and cared for.

And loving people is something I’m very good at! I’m affectionate, gentle, playful, snuggly, and definitely a bit of a Velcro dog. I’d be happiest in a quiet, loving home where I can stay close to my people and be part of everyday life.

I’m also one smart cookie—especially when treats are involved! I know sit, stay, wait, lay down, up, down, speak, hush, come, drop it, and get it. I even know “shake,” although I might need a little refresher. Food is a great motivator for me, so I’m always willing to work on my skills.

I’m housetrained and can be left loose inside for up to about four hours. At night, I sleep on a blanket near my family’s bed. I can climb stairs and get in and out of the car without help.

I’ve lived with children and cats. I can be friendly and gentle with kids, although sometimes I’m a little nervous. With other dogs I can be friendly but may also feel anxious, so thoughtful introductions would be important. I’m friendly with cats, though I have been known to chase them.

My chocolate coat grows curly and fluffy, and I need regular brushing and grooming to keep me looking and feeling my best.

After spending my whole life as a beloved family dog, I’m hoping for someone who will help make this next chapter feel safe. Give me a quiet home, some tasty treats, a cozy blanket near you, and plenty of love, and I’ll happily return that love right back.

"RON" easy-going PITBULL *good with dogs, cats, kids**"STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"RON"Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Adoption $200  Breed: Shepherd Mix

Neutered male 7 yrs 75 lbs  Housetrained: yes

ok with Dogs - Yes,  Cats - Yes,   Kids - Yes

Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Gentle, Loyal, Couch Potato

adoption application

Ron, our 7 (ish) year-old 75 pound pitty is about as charming as they come. He's so friendly that if we didn't know any better, we would think Ron is running for office. But Ron's only agenda is to make more friends. It's time to find Ron the great home he deserves.

Found stray, Ron happily walked up to a stranger to ask for help. We took him in to address his skin and teeth. Ron had untreated fleas which caused hairloss on his back and he had some badly broken molars. With a little TLC, Ron's coat is back in shape and he's had his dental procedure. Ron's breath is now as sweet as his personality.

Ron has been a dream to foster. He's not destructive and will make good use of every dog bed in the house. Ron can be trusted to be left alone (he'll catch up on some zzz's), and is potty trained. If Ron needs to go out, he stares at his person intensely until they ask him if he wants out, which he'll answer with an "Awoo".

For fun, Ron likes sniff walks. Although Ron would follow his person to the end of the world, really long walks are hard on him due to arthritis in his hips and knees. Ron is on a daily NSAID for pain; we recommend this be continued long term. The only time Ron pulls on his leash is to say hello to other people, dogs or cats. He's been great with the other animals he's met. One of Ron's favorite hobbies is riding in cars (any car, really. Big fan). Ron isn't very impressed with toys, but he'll take one from his foster mom and play with it for 30 seconds so he doesn't hurt her feelings. Ron likes to be the little spoon when cuddling and would be happy to be snuggled for hours.

Ron is heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives. He's had normal senior blood work. We'll send Ron's adopter with several months worth of flea prevention and a good supply of NSAIDs.

We're so impressed with Ron that we're thinking of filling out an application ourselves.

SENIOR DOG RESCUE of OREGON

KIT Breed: Shepherd, Australian  spayed female, 8Y/0M/3W  61lbs   $200

*Not Good with Cats
*Good with Kids
*Housetrained
*Needs a fenced yard
*Needs to be the only pet
Hi, I’m Kit! I’m an 8-year-old Blue Australian Shepherd with 50 pounds of energy, loyalty, and love to share. My dad is 81 and is moving into assisted living, so even though my family wishes they could keep me, they already have two dogs of their own. They're hoping to find me a home where I can be just as loved as I've always been.

If you're someone who enjoys getting outside, we might be the perfect match. Walks are one of my favorite things, and I never say no to a game of fetch. Whether it's a neighborhood stroll, a hike through the woods, or tossing a ball around the backyard, I'm happiest when I get to spend time being active with my person.

I'm an affectionate, confident girl who also has an independent streak. At home, I like to keep an eye on things. If I hear someone outside, I'll let you know with a bark—it's my job, after all! But once guests come inside, you'll see that I'm all wiggles and friendly greetings. Away from home, I'm incredibly social and enjoy meeting new people.

I've had puppy classes and even spent two months working with a licensed trainer, so I know commands like sit, stay, and drop. I walk nicely on a leash and am a wonderful companion for everyday adventures.

I've never lived with other dogs or cats. I'm generally aloof around other dogs, and while I tend to bark or growl at cats, I may not be the best fit for a feline family. I did spend a few weeks around children ages 4 to 7 and was gentle, friendly, and excited to be with them.

My dream home has a securely fenced yard where I can safely stretch my legs and play. I sleep freely inside the house at night and I'm used to being alone for no more than a couple of hours at a time.

If you're looking for a loyal hiking buddy, a fetch enthusiast, and a best friend who will happily join you on life's adventures, I can't wait to meet you. I think we could make a pretty great team.
