"BERNIE" cute and independent Shih Tzu mix

ADOPTED!
Feb 2017
Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!

here's my Mcas weblink
animal id # 584443

Hello there! My name is Bernie and I'm in search of a new home. Unfortunately my previous owner had to leave the country and was unable to take me. I am an independent guy that likes things on my terms. I am very active, but also like to curl up in a lap for a nice snooze. I am probably not the best match for apartment life, as I have been known to bark when left alone. Children in the home should also be over the age of 10 years, as I can be sensitive to some handling, especially around my ears. I do come with some great skills though. I already know how to sit and shake! Treats are a big motivator for me, so training should be fun! If you are looking for a cool companion, please come and meet me today! I am about 2 years old and weigh 18 pounds.

"THEO" cool pitbull

ADOPTED!
Feb 2017

Mcas Newsletter: "Theo went home again! He was originally adopted to assist a hearing impaired client, but once they got home, they thought Theo might be deaf. He was returned and it was confirmed…Theo was indeed deaf. A couple days later our shelter manager, Shaunna received a phone call from the original adopter. They loved and missed him, so they wanted to come back and get him.
It was a heartwarming reunion!"

Hi there! My name is Theo and I'm looking for a new, loving family! I've had a pretty tough life so far, and am looking for someone to give me another chance. I am a very friendly guy that adores people and enjoys going for daily walks and runs. I also enjoy playing with toys and cuddling on the couch. I can get overexcited easily and will need work on impulse control with my mouth. I was never taught good bite inhibition and sometimes I can get carried away in all the excitement of getting attention. The shelter is highly recommending that we take reward based classes together to get us started on the right paw. Kids in the home need to be over the age of 12 years due to this. I can calm myself pretty nicely and really enjoy getting in a good cuddle session. I have developed a skin condition from fleas and it will be important that I stay on quality, monthly flea control for the rest of my life. One last challenge is that I am also deaf. If you you are looking for a great second chance dog, please come and meet me today! I must also ask that my new home is feline and canine free, as I need all of the attention to myself. I am about 5 years old and weigh a thin 55 pounds.

"LAIKA" cool and quirky Lab mix

ADOPTED!
Feb 2017

Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!

here's my Mcas weblink
animal id #584205

Hi there! My name is Laika and I'm looking for a new home! I am a very active girl that enjoys going for explorations and having lots of playtime. My previous owner said that I'm a great girl that gets easily excited by kids and can be territorial with other dogs. I have been able to play with other dogs here in the shelter, but it is best that I be the only dog in the household. Children in the home must be over the age of 6 years as well. I have some great skills to take home with you though. I can rock a great sit, shake and down! I have shown some obsessive compulsive disorders here in the shelter, meaning that I chase shadows. This will require some behavioral modification to help resolve. Please speak with your adoption counselor about questions regarding this. If you think we could make fast friends, please come and meet me today! I will make a super companion at about 7 years old and weighing in at 55 pounds.

"MINNIE" mellow mature Chi mix

ADOPTED!
Feb 2017
Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!

Minnie here's my Mcas weblink
animal id # 584290

Hi I'm Minnie - and while I may look like a mouse, I'm actually a little Chihuahua mix lady! I'm looking for a nice calm home where I can settle in and get to know you and show you my sweet personality. I love to crawl into your lap for comfort but I don't like excessive handling as it can stress me out. I've shown a little food guarding at the shelter but this may not be something you'll see at home. Because of this I would do best in a home with children 8 years and up as I'm also a fragile lady. If you are looking for your new mellow best friend to spend lots of time cuddled up together - you've found her! I'm about 9 years old and weigh 8 lbs.

"KIMCHI" cute and spicy Chi mix type

ADOPTED!
Feb 2017
Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!

here's my Mcas weblink
animal id # 583623

My name is Kimchi and like my namesake, I am a spicy little guy! It may take me a minute to warm up to new people, but when I do, all I want to do is snuggle in your lap! Don’t let all the snuggling fool you though- I love to run around and play with toys as well. I really like other small dogs my size and would love to go home with you and your friendly little dog or dogs. Since I can be a little shy, I would be most comfortable in a home with older gentle children.

"AMELIA" cute little Jack Russell Terrier

ADOPTED!
Feb 2017
MCAS Newsletter:  "This lady drove 4 hours in horrible weather to come meet this little doggie. When she got here, we were closed due to that weather. She was able to walk into the shelter and meet Amelia, but was told we were closed and to come back the next morning. Disappointed but really wanted Amelia, she spent the night in Portland. The next morning there were three people interested in her, so it came down to who got the dog. Since the woman had come in the day before, but no one had documented her visit, it was decided she could adopt the dog. She is a runner and Amelia is young and energetic, so it was the perfect match, as you can see by the smile on her face!"

Who's looking for a sensitive, yet high energy girl? My name is Amelia and I'm looking for a new family that is active and patient. I can be easily startled by new people and new environments, but once I feel comfortable, I am a ball of energy. If you know Jack Russell Terriers, than you know what I mean. I will need proper exercise and maybe even a job once I get some more socialization. I may do best in home with another friendly, social dog to learn from. I enjoy being around my canine friends here at the shelter. We have so much fun exploring and playing together out in the yards. If you think we could make a fantastic team, please come and meet me today! I am around 3 years old and weigh a thin 12 pounds.

"CAPTAIN" very sweet (bigger) Chihuahua type

Feb 2017

Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!

here's my Mcas weblink
animal id #584121

Ahoy! I'm Captain and I'm looking for a new ship to call home! I'm a neutered, male chihuahua who loves to cuddle with my crew and give lots of kisses. I'll even lick behind your ear lobes. My shelter friends have noticed that I hack sometimes when I'm excited and I might always do that so I'd best be walked on a harness when I'm ashore. But I love to play games and race around with you! Sometimes I get so excited, I'll nibble at your shoes. I don't like to share my food so I'd do best in a home with kids 14 and older and I might do best as the only dog in my home. Came say hi and see if you'll be my new first mate! I'm about 4 years old and weigh 17 lbs.

Hi there! My name is Alfalfa and I'm the cutest little sprout here! The shelter has been quite overwhelming for me and I can't wait to get into a new home with my new family. I am easily startled by anything new and will need a patient home that can teach me that the world is not such a scary place. I am very much puppy-like when I'm comfortable and enjoy playing and racing around. I enjoy the company of other dogs and would do best in a home with another social dog that I can learn from. If you think we could make a great match, come and meet me today! I am about 2 years old and weigh 12 pounds.

Hi my name is Finn, I am approx 2 years old and weigh about 76lbs. I am a big hyper guy that will need lots of exercise. I love my tennis ball and bone they make me so happy when I get to play with them. I promise I will be a big furry goof ball. I am also looking for a yard to exert my energy and apartment life has already been too much for me. Due to my history, I would also do best in a home with children 10 and up. "BEN" goofy senior boy - likes meeting other dogs

ADOPTED!!!
after almost 5 months in the shelter!

Ben was adopted to a great home!
I hope MCAS gets some happy updates

"After 147 days at the shelter, Ben found his new home with Amber last Saturday!"

Available for Adoption with Multnomah County Animal Services!

animal # 580979
Mcas weblink

My name is Ben & I have been here since early September 2016!!! I am 10 years old and I weigh 75 pounds. I have had quite the life, and now I am just looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy my retirement years. I can still be quite goofy and love to be around with my human friends, playing with toys or just a good old fashioned romp around the yard. I have been an outside dog most of my life, and so transitioning to a home will take some time, but I promise to be very appreciative! I have been tolerant of other dogs when meeting them, but do not seem to be much into playing. I am looking for an Adult-only home, as I have had issues with food-guarding and will need proper management with this. Due to this, it is best that I be the only pet in the home as well. As you can see with my appearance, I have had some previous trauma but it has not affected me physically, and I can still move around without much issue at all. I hope you take the chance on me - I'll be a really sweet and wonderful guy with the right home!!

Available for Adoption with Multnomah County Animal Services!

animal # 584198
Mcas weblink

Wren here! I'm a chirpy, vocal Husky mix lady looking for my new home. I can be a little anxious in new situations but I'm very curious and love to explore everything! And boy do I love to play. Sometimes I get so excited that I jump up on you but I'd love to go to some obedience courses with you and practice my manners. Because I'm so jumpy I would do best in a home without very small kids (7+). Do you think we could be best friends? Come say hi! I'm 1 year old and weigh 44 lbs

Wren is usually much spunkier than it shows here!
She was spayed this morning, so this just was a quick visit into her kennel.

here's my Mcas weblink
animal id # 581532

My name is Sheila! I am a zoomie, ready-to-go lady who would love to be your new running partner! My new family should be very active and allow me to the time and space for my physical needs. Sitting on the couch all day just won't cut it for me! My shelter friends have seen me play with toys, meet new people, and receive lots of love. Although I can be a bit anxious when in new environments, with owners who will be patient and help me, I can relax and feel safe. I may do best with kids over 6 years old, and be the only dog in the household. I am 2 years old and weigh 54 pounds.

Adoption update Jan 27, 2017:
Honey the yellow labrador retriever mix was adopted after recovering from flea allergy dermatitis and pneumonia.  Her new family says "Honey's fur is growing back on her hind-quarters, and she's infection free, on good flea meds, and all she wants to do is snuggle with our two other dogs. " - Michelle C

Do you like sugar and spice and everything nice? You should come see me. I'm Honey, a calm 8 year old spayed female yellow Labrador Retrieve mix, who weighs about 76lbs. I'm what they call a fixer upper because I need some TLC to get my coat and skin back into shape. The shelter doctor has already got me started on the road to getting better. I am on medication that will go with me to my new home and am anxiously awaiting a nice comfy home. I will need regular flea control and a good diet. The shelter is recommending kids 6 & up because my skin and ears might be sensitive.

Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!

here's my Mcas weblink
animal id # 583525

Bella here! I'm an adorable mixed breed lady looking for a new home. I can be a bit shy in new environments and situations but once I've warmed up, I'm the sweetest cuddle bug you've ever seen! I like going for walks and getting extra pets from my favorite people. I've lived with cats before and have done well. My shelter friends have noticed some food guarding from me, so my ideal home would have children 12 years and older. If you've got the patient home ready to let me relax and open up my warm personality, come say hi! Apartment life is too overwhelming for me with the constant noise, so I'm asking for a home setting. I'm about 4 years old and weigh 26 lbs.

"COOPER" a modest guy

ADOPTED!
Jan 2017

Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!

here's my Mcas weblink
animal id #583903

Cooper is my name and I'm a real people pleaser. I love people so much that a home where someone is around most of the time would be my dream. I need some remedial crate training so I can learn to be left for short periods of time. My previous person says I am housetrained, ride well in cars and like to play fetch. I am about 2 years old and weigh 25lbs. I would prefer to be the only pet in the household because I'm not fond of cats or dogs.
