I would love to have a job to do or learn some new tricks to give my mind something to work on. My ideal family will be active, patient and use positive training methods to help me become a more refined pup. I think working with a trainer would be a fun way for us to bond and learn together. I am eager to learn and can't wait to show you how smart I am!

"GUNNER" - SPECIAL NEEDS - Blind - sweetie mature Rottweiller/Ridgeback mix

  UPDATE 9/1/23  Adopted

After spending a few minutes with Gunner in a  larger area shelter play-yard, I took him off the leash (staying close by to help him) and he maneuvered through the kiddy pool, around an old tree stump and a few other big obstacles in the yard. He lightly bumped into the fence. I was talking to him as he walked, to reassure him I was there, and was ready to put him back on leash.  Gunner walked slowly, sniffing all the many smells in the play yard and did fine. Gunner enjoys life and is quite the cute character with his short tan and white legs, round body with the interesting Rhodesian Ridgback  stripe down his whole back and his darling face. What a love. Gunner is  hoping for a home (probably without many stairs, and few surprises) who appreciates his loving spirit and can accommodate his blindness.

"GUNNER" is Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!

Date found: Thursday, July 13, 2023

License fee: $27.00 (Multnomah County residents only)

 Animal ID: 279639, 6 yr 93 lbs

https://www.multcopets.org/adoptable/279639

Hey there! My name is Gunner and I am an adult male Rottie [Ridgeback] mix. Since I am blind, when going to pet me please do your best not to make sudden movements that may startle me. I am known to be scared of loud noises, but once I know who is coming up to me I will be your best friend! I might need a little more guidance on walks than most dogs, but that's just because I'm a special boy. When I'm excited, I get super wiggly and jumpy because I can't wait to hang out with you. My new potential family should know that because I am blind and startle easy in unfamiliar settings, I will need time to get to know my surroundings when you take me home! I would probably do best in a household with no young kids, but I do get along well with other doggies. I love to go on walks, and helping me lose a few pounds wouldn't hurt! If you are seeking a silly friend to keep you company through your life and are ready for the happiness a blind dog can bring you then please come say hi :)

ps - it would be fun to do a Canine DNA test for Gunner

Gunner has a full back "Ridge"

My name is Gus. Not much is known about my behavior outside of the shelter. I'm a sad guy who is very shutdown so it's hard to know what my personality is really like. I am looking for a patient home where people will provide me with the stability and routine I need to flourish. I have a handsome German Shepherd head, and the rest of me looks like maybe there is some Husky mixed in with some other breeds. I definitely need to gain some weight, but may be a picky eater so finding the right food to appeal to my palate would be helpful. The shelter staff thinks in the right home I will bond nicely with my new people and become a loving member of the family. If you think you can give me the life I deserve, please come to the shelter and ask to meet me

I am a sweet and friendly doggie who likes to let you know when I'm excited with my barks. I have lived in an apartment before, and also with children without any issues. Daily mental and physical stimulation will also be invaluable to my quality of life. My friends here at the shelter are still getting to know me, would you like to get to know me too? "RODEO" gorgeous affectionate blue-eyed strawberry-blond - NOT suitable for Apartments

 UPDATE 9/1/23  Adopted

Nice boy with a great personality. Aussies are very active dogs, and not  suitable for apartment living esp since Rodeo does have a pretty loud bark at times. Aussies are Not suitable for homes with inactive people

MCAS hours/ Location

Date found: Monday, August 28, 2023
Location found: Lewis and Clark Park, Troutdale

 Animal ID: 297455, 2 yrs 55 lbs

 https://www.multcopets.org/adoptable/297455

Hi, I'm Rodeo, a delightful, younger Aussie mix! I came to the shelter as a stray, though my finder kept me with them for a bit while trying to figure out where I needed to be. I'm house trained and good with everyone according to them! I was a very affectionate, lovely boy for my intake exam, and know a handful of commands according to my finders as well. I'm an active breed, so I'd love outlets to keep my body and mind occupied - puzzles of sorts, lots of hikes or jogs, and other energetic, physical and mental challenges would be PERFECT! I am very food motivated, so treats will come in handy with any positive reinforcement you have in mind. Want to come see me? Please stop by the shelter!

"JACK" GREAT PYRENEES - Beautiful lovable Gentle Giant - likes other nice dogs

Update 9/1/23 Adopted

Love this big guy, and In spite of what some people think about this breed, I bet that Jack would love to be an inside dog in a  home with his people, as long as he was also given lots of safe outdoor space to hang out in.  He is a sensitive guy who loves his friends, and may be suspicious of strangers (as his breed genes dictate) so continuing to make positive associations with new people is important in his new home.

Jack has been in shelter playgroups and does great with other friendly easy-going dogs

Please do your research on the Great Pyrenees breed, and then come visit this big guy "Jack"! Jack is timid, loves his friends and is easy to walk in quiet places - busy city life is NOT a match for this boy. He also likes other dogs (Jack may be a bit unsure at first, then really enjoys the company ) ps sometimes other dogs are intimidated by very dogs and may try to bully them)

"JACK" is Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!
MCAS hours/ Location

Date found: Saturday, July 29, 2023
Location found: NW Bridge Ave / NW st Johns Brg, Portland
Adoption cost: $160
License fee: $27.00 (Multnomah County residents only)

Animal ID: 295488, male, 3 yrs 106 lbs

My name is Jack! I am a young, Great Pyrenees looking for my furever family! I am a loyal companion who is a bit shy at first but once I am comfortable with you I will be your best bud! My new family needs to have good knowledge of my breed or of livestock guardian dogs in general. Being a livestock guardian breed, I require a nice, big area that is fenced completely around for me to roam. My new yard will preferably have a nice tall fence so that I can't follow my nose away from home! Other than having that nice, big fenced yard, my new family needs to remember that I am a working breed and I need to be mentally stimulated as well with things such as snuffle mats, puzzle toys, learning new tricks, etc. If you are interested in meeting me, speak with an adoption counselor today to learn more about me!
