My previous adopter said I was friendly with large and small dogs. My behavior with cats is unknown. I am crate trained and potty trained, and could be left alone for 1- 3 hours. I do whine or am vocal when left because I really want to go with you. I like to play fetch and I am smart. I know "Sit" and "Shake" and am eager to learn more!

"MOOSE" Friendly young STRONG Yellow Lab

UPDATE Mar 1, 2023 ADOPTED

Soft loose skin. Curious and fun dog.  Very strong puller on leash - a gentle leader head collar along with a second leash would help enormously, along with exercising him before a leash walk

"MOOSE" is Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!
MCAS hours/ Location

Animal ID: 280722, male Yellow Lab mix, 1 yr 80 lbs

https://www.multcopets.org/adoptable/280722

Hi, my name is Moose! You could describe me as big and brawny with a beautiful smile. Like most Labs, I love food and will gladly take it from your hand or counter, so my new people will need to keep things put away while I am learning the rules at my new home. I'm not even a year old yet, so I'm basically still in puppy mode! I would benefit from crate training, and having frozen food puzzle toys to give me something to do and could help me a lot with chew training. I definitely need an outlet for my energy...let's face it - these long legs need to RUN! I am not suitable for apartment living unless you are a daily runner or have a separate enclosed area for me to run. I pull extremely hard on leash and have pulled some people off their feet, but tiring me out before going on walks and using appropriate equipment such as a head halter will make teaching me to walk nicely much more enjoyable for both of us. The shelter recommends practicing walking nicely in a fenced yard so I can get the hang of it before going out in public.

Moose loves to run to get some of his energy out!

Moose is very curious and inquisitive

"DUSTY" IN FOSTER playful sensitive elegant little young mix

 3/3/2023 ADOPTED

"DUSTY" is Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!
MCAS hours/ Location

Animal ID: 281958, male mix, 1 yr 21 lbs

https://www.multcopets.org/adoptable/281958

IN FOSTER HOME

"Playful, sensitive young pup seeks patient human(s) with a sense of humor to share laughs and mutual reassurance." Hi there! Would you like a funny, elegant-looking companion to jump up on your lap and steal your heart? I have only been with my foster family for one week - but they are already charmed by me! I may seem shy or scared at first. (The shelter is a loud, busy place for a sensitive little guy like me, and I hid under my bed for 8 whole days!) But once I am in a quiet place and know you just a little better, I love to jump and play with my miniature tennis ball. I might even try some "parkour" moves by jumping up on chairs and other furniture. But I am quickly learning what "off" means, and I will make you laugh with my happy antics! I am smart, attentive, and curious. If you look in a cupboard, I want to look in with you! I am very responsive to tone of voice, and will learn for praise or play rewards when I am not too stressed. I am young, so I need to get my "zoomies" out a couple times a day. (I might even try to grab a pant leg instead of the ball when excited, until I learn better.) But after that, I am happy to hang out while you work or watch a movie. (I would rather be in your lap - but I will use a dog bed near your feet, too.) I am already learning to "ask" for things by sitting. I love car rides, and jump right in - but I may need help learning not to sit in the driver's lap! I like to potty outside, and I will cry and get restless to let you know I am ready - but at first that may blend in with my general excitement. So please start with a regular potty break schedule (morning, lunch, evening, bedtime) until we learn how to communicate clearly, and I know where you want me to "go". (I was accident-free in my foster home after just 2 days, and sleeping all night on my own bed after just 5 days!) I like to know where my "safe space" is, and to keep my trusted humans in sight! I admit that right now I cry loudly if I am left alone, and I bark at strange people and dogs when I am outside. My perfect person will have a sense of humor and patience with how talkative I am! From funny roo-roo greetings to warbles, squeaks and barks, I have a wide repertoire! Are you the special person who can teach me to feel safe, and trust that you will always return for me? I promise to give you a lifetime of love, laughs and loyalty in return!

My name is Tonka and I am ready to live a life of luxury! I'm a gentle, sweet and affectionate senior dog who is easy to walk on leash. I take treats gently and would make a great companion for someone who appreciates older dogs. I came to the shelter as a stray with a small female dog, but my history is a mystery. My perfect home would be a quiet, relaxed environment where I can just spend my golden years in peace. I prefer to not have small children around, as they are just too much energy for me. I do have some medical concerns, so please speak with your adoption counselor about my needs. If you come out and meet me today, I promise to share all of my love and cuddles with you

"TOASTY" gorgeous young Husky - no cats

 UPDATE 2/22/23 ADOPTED

"TOASTY" is Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!
MCAS hours/ Location

Animal ID: 281562 , female Husky, 1 yr 62 lbs

https://www.multcopets.org/adoptable/281562

very soft fur, great hiking buddy

initiallyToasty is jumpy/ mouthy in excitement. She is young and active, and affectionate

No CATS

Toasty is a sweet, good natured and somewhat independent dog who wants to roam. She loves exploring the woods and would make a great hiking companion. She is okay with affection, but is not really an affectionate dog (at least in the shelter), so would be a good fit with someone who doesn't need or want a dog who is clingy or likes a lot of close contact. She should also be in a home with a fenced yard, given her propensity to explore.

"AXEL" REGAL playful big young German Shepherd

 Feb 19, 2023 ADOPTED

Axel is alot of dog! Young, big and strong and very sociable and self-entertains with his toys.

"AXEL"" is Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!
MCAS hours/ Location

Date found: Saturday, February 4, 2023
Location found: N Midway / N Columbia Way, Portland

Animal ID: 281964 , male German Shepherd, 1 yr 6 mth, 82 lbs

https://www.multcopets.org/adoptable/281964

Hi. My name is Axel. I am a very large and handsome fellow and almost regal in nature. I am very intelligent. Someone has worked with me on my training as I already know sit and down. I just need someone to pick up where my previous owner left off. This shouldn't be to hard as I'm eager to please and very food motivated. I do take my treats a little rough however, so you should use a flat hand when you give them to me. I am a sweet, friendly dog who loves to be pet and will lean into you for more. But like many teenagers, I can get a little jumpy and mouthy when I'm happy. For this reason, it's probably best if kids in the house are 8 years or older as I might knock little ones over. Since I am a large and active guy, I would love to live in a house with a large backyard with people who live an active lifestyle. I am a great guy who would make a wonderful addition to any family. Ask to meet me today!

License fee: $27.00 (Multnomah County residents only)

I'm Peter, the one with the blue collar. I was found with my brother Paul. He's the one with the purple collar. Because I'm young, I will need a home to work on my socialization and manners so I can grow up to be a well behaved companion. I might be just a little too old for puppy classes, but there are classes that offer puppy free play/socialization classes that would be tons of fun. It's a great way to make friends with other puppies and people! Because I'm a puppy, my adoption fee is $300.00.
