"Project POOCH, quite simply, changes lives. We operate a kennel inside a youth correctional facility and pair currently incarcerated youth with shelter dogs. The youth learn kennel management, positive reinforcement, grooming, and training techniques. The youth learn what it means to be depended on by another living creature and what it means to be trusted and relied upon. And, they learn what unconditional love feels like—sometimes for the first time. Our dogs get trained, loved, and adopted into their forever homes. There is no limit to the amount of time a dog spends in our care, and we are focused on the individual needs of each dog."
"TOBY" is AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at "PROJECT POOCH"
neutered male Terrier mix, 7 yr 15 lbs
Quiet, calm, and confident
Very friendly with humans and other dogs
Walks well on a leash but needs shorter walks
Can relax/chill on his own but prefers to be close to a human companion
Will play with dogs his size
THINGS TO BE AWARE OF
Needs soft food because he has very few teeth.
Toby has a luxating patella and sometimes limps, but does not stop him from jumping on couches and in laps.
Special Considerations: Would do great with kids. Does not need tons of exercise or a yard. He is happy to hang out with people and also can be left alone for reasonable amounts of time.
Needs: He could benefit from easy physical therapy exercises every day which we will share with you. The PT will help keep his hind legs strong and healthy. He will need to be fed soft food and treats due to lack of teeth.
