"SIMBA" is Available for Adoption at "CLACKAMAS CO ANIMAL SERVICES"
listed as Great Pyrenees /Border Collie
Shelter ID: 105761 neutered male, 4 yrs, 45 lbs
Description: Simba is a 4 year old Border Collie-Great
Pyrenees mix, currently weighing in at 45 lbs. At full size, he has the
appearance of a small golden-colored Border Collie, but come in and see
for yourself! Simba is looking for a positive reinforcing home who
values training and enrichment. He has handled extremely well for us,
showing us his good skills with a no pull harness and enjoyment of pets.
Simba seems to really enjoy potty walks with staff and volunteers along
with spending time outside in our play yards. We anticipate that Simba
will want to always be right in the mix with his family and their
adventures. He has been extremely clean and tidy in his kennel and is
expected to pick up on a new household routine quickly. Simba will
likely need regular weekly brushing to keep his coat looking amazing as
it is thick and luxurious. Please do your research on the Border Collie
breed if you are considering adoption. They enjoy being active and
mentally engaged. SUPER smart and family oriented dogs.
Simba was previously adopted and kept in a home for 2 months. He did
WONDERFULLY on all fronts but could NOT transition to a space with dog
savvy cats. For this reason, Simba cannot be adopted by a household
where there are resident cats. His previous adoptive family had this to
say about him:
'Simba loves bully sticks, spray whipped cream, and licky mats. He
is crate trained, but loves sleeping with us on the foot of my bed. He
is a dog who will get up with me if I get up early and will also stay in
bed if I do. He never seems to need to urgently go potty. He doesn't
mind the rain or having his muddy paws wiped off. He loves being
brushed. He loves visits to the vet and does well with interactions
there, both human and canine. While he does get jumpy with humans, he
never jumped on our 7 year old or the 3 year old we see often. He is
sweet and gentle with them. He is learning to keep all four on the floor
but isn't 100% there yet. His jumping is surprisingly gentle. He lies
under the table by my feet during meals and doesn't beg or snatch food,
but like most dogs, is an opportunist and will help himself to
unattended food. He is truly a gem and one of the easiest dogs we've had
in our home.'
Simba has been neutered, heartworm tested and is current on his rabies vaccination and flea/heartworm preventative.
