In Foster home (recovering from Kennel cough)

I'm Winter, a beautiful 5-year-old German Shepherd mix who is looking for a patient and understanding home. I'm a gentle soul who can be a bit shy and fearful in new situations, so I need a calm and quiet environment where I can feel safe and secure. A home without young children (over 12 years old only, please!) is a must, as I need a predictable routine and a peaceful atmosphere to truly blossom. I love walks, being with my person/people, cheese, and any other yummy treat! Doorways, corners, and thresholds are a little scary. I may not have a lot of experience living in a home, but I am house-broken (I am very smart) I am cuddly, and lean in for pets and will climb onto your lap if you let me. I love being around my person/people, so much so that when they leave I get a little sad. My foster mom has an extra large kennel for me, though, and once I am in that I feel a little more safe and secure. I do not jump up on people, and I do know sit. I am very curious and weary of the world and just need time, patience, and a good reliable routine to help me through life. I will be your adventure bestie and loyal companion! I have met a pig and chickens through a fence (my foster mom has them) and I am curious about them. Foster mom helps me navigate these new things by letting me explore and learn about the world and positively reinforcing interactions that are safe for me.
