The dogs at Clackamas Co shelter have had a harder time getting adopted since budget cuts closed the shelter on Saturdays.
The longer shelter stays are tough on dogs! Please consider taking some on a Tues thru Friday 1:00-4:00 to visit with one of the adoptable dogs!
'Look through our adoptable dogs to find the perfect match for you and your family. We assign each dog a breed and do our best to describe the dog's personality. Please read each dog's profile closely before applying or coming in. Meets with dogs are set up only when an approved application is on file and the adopter meets the basic suitability requirements for a particular dog. We actively seek rescue placement for our dogs who have medical needs, training needs, or for dogs who just haven't found their forever home through us. Dogs who are noted to be "Committed to Rescue" are not currently viewable for adoption, and they may have a home already through their rescue placement. You are welcome to fill out an online application for us to pre-approve and keep on file. Then, when your dream dog comes in, the adoption process will be much quicker"
"Our dogs all go home with their spay/neuter completed, microchipped, rabies vaccinated, DHPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, are heart worm tested, one month flea/tick preventative applied, and with a 1 year license included. They also will have their teeth checked and any needed dental work done prior to going home, too!" CCDS FB

"GENERAL SHERMAN" Available for Adoption at "CLACKAMAS CO DOG Services"
Shelter ID: 106300 neutered male, 4 yrs 82 lbs adoption fee $150 ?
Breed: Cane Corso
Description: A handsome big guy, General Sherman very much looks forward to meeting you. At around 6 years of age and weighing around 82lbs, he is a gentle giant who can't wait for you to see his shining personality. Although leaning more towards the senior side of life for his breed (some kind of Mastiff mix!), Sherman still has plenty of pep in his step for exploring the neighborhood, going for adventures, and of course snoozing during a movie night. He absolutely loves to meet new people, and hasn't failed to make a new friend yet! He can't wait to explore the world and make new friends with you!
1) General Sherman is a pretty easy-going guy, who may do best with a family who has experience with large and powerful breeds. Despite being so easy-going, he is a big guy that can pull pretty hard if he really wants to go check something out - although he tends to choose to stay near his people!2) We don't know how General Sherman will be with cats or other small animals, so be sure to discuss proper introductions with your adoption counselor between Sherman and any resident small animals to make sure they can be great housemates!
3) Sherman has been dog neutral here at the shelter. He seems to show interest in investigating other dogs, but his playful days may be behind him. He may do great with another dog of similar energy level, so be sure to discuss your current dogs personality with your adoption counselor and schedule a meet and greet to make sure they can be great housemates!
4) Due to his size and wiggly nature, Sherman may do best with older children in the house - he sometimes forgets his size and could easily knock a little one over!
