"OSPREY" "VOLUNTEER FAV!**AFFECTIONATE HUSKY** (Waiting so long...)"CLACKAMAS County DOG SERVICES "

Poor "Osprey" has been waiting 4 months in a shelter kennel...She is said to be very affectionate, and a volunteer favorite.

The dogs at Clackamas Co shelter have a harder time getting adopted since recent budget cuts closed the shelter on Saturdays.

The longer stays are tough on dogs!  Please consider taking some on a Tues thru Friday 1:00-4:00 pm to visit with one of the adoptable dogs!

Adopt INFO

'Look through our adoptable dogs to find the perfect match for you and your family. We assign each dog a breed and do our best to describe the dog's personality. Please read each dog's profile closely before applying or coming in. Meets with dogs are set up only when an approved application is on file and the adopter meets the basic suitability requirements for a particular dog. We actively seek rescue placement for our dogs who have medical needs, training needs, or for dogs who just haven't found their forever home through us. Dogs who are noted to be "Committed to Rescue" are not currently viewable for adoption, and they may have a home already through their rescue placement. You are welcome to fill out an online application for us to pre-approve and keep on file. Then, when your dream dog comes in, the adoption process will be much quicker"

"Our dogs all go home with their spay/neuter completed, microchipped, rabies vaccinated, DHPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, are heart worm tested, one month flea/tick preventative applied, and with a 1 year license included. They also will have their teeth checked and any needed dental work done prior to going home, too!"  CCDS FB

General adoption info

"OSPREY" Available for Adoption at "CLACKAMAS CO DOG Services"

Shelter ID: 106176 Breed: Siberian Husky spayed female

 4 yrs 50 lbs  adoption fee $205

Description: Soft as silk, Osprey will bring more to her future family than meets the eye! Osprey is a young Siberian Husky lady at about 4 years of age and weighs about 50lbs, and is looking for a moderately active family to shower her with all the affection she deserves! Osprey knows that she is a queen, and is looking for the royal treatment from her new family - primarily, for her, that means being the only dog in the home. When out and about for walks, she prefers to not be around other dogs, so asks for a dog-park free life and an owner who is going to advocate for her if she encounters another dog while on walks. She isn't over-the-top about her displeasure with other dogs, but she just doesn't prefer to be closer than about 5 feet from a strange dog. She will happily and easily walk on leash (no pulling from her!) and really, really loves her people. If you're ready to bestow the royal treatment on a new queen, Osprey can't wait to meet you.

 1) Osprey will need an experienced owner who will advocate for her in situations that make her uncomfortable. She wants a home that understands that she does NOT want to go to dog parks, dog socials, or really anywhere that there are likely to be off-leash dogs.

2) Osprey wants to be the only dog in her home. Although she came into the shelter with a male dog who she tolerates, she really just would rather have her own space. On walks, if a dog is too close, she will chatter at them and let it be known that SHE is the boss, so needs an owner who will make sure to keep her comfortable by not letting other dogs invade her personal space.

3) We don't know how Osprey will be with cats or other small animals, so be sure to discuss proper introductions between Osprey and any resident small animals with your adoption counselor. Huskies are known to have a higher prey drive, so an experienced owner would be best.

4) Due to her desire to be the queen of her home, Osprey would likely do best in a home where any children present are at least 13 years of age. She requests that she be taken on walks by adults who will advocate for her if she is uncomfortable.
