UPDATE 4/9/26 Project Pooch FB
"Little miss Viola has been available for adoption since February, but hasn’t had a lot of interest. This girl is a kennel favorite and so SMART. She’s a blast to work with and will brighten any home she is in! Learn more about her and how to adopt at pooch.org/viola
Project POOCH, quite simply, changes lives. We operate a kennel inside a youth correctional facility and pair currently incarcerated youth with shelter dogs. The youth learn kennel management, positive reinforcement, grooming, and training techniques. The youth learn what it means to be depended on by another living creature and what it means to be trusted and relied upon. And, they learn what unconditional love feels like—sometimes for the first time. Our dogs get trained, loved, and adopted into their forever homes. There is no limit to the amount of time a dog spends in our care, and we are focused on the individual needs of each dog."
"VIOLA" AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at PROJECT POOCH"
If you are interested in making a donation, learning more about our mission, volunteering, upcoming events, or details about adoptable dogs, call our office at 503-697-0623. If you get our voicemail, please leave a detailed message. We often cannot answer the phone as we are working with the pups, but we can call you right back!
If you need to schedule an adoption appointment, please review the adoption information page first and then email us at adopt@pooch.org or call us at 503-697-0623.
Viola may love the sun, but her pink skin does not, so she comes inside when the sun is the highest.
8-9 months (June 2026) Adoption Fee: $350
Gets along well with many other dogs (meet & greet is required)
Viola has been learning a lot at POOCH and her handlers say that she is really good on leash, though we are still working on distractions. As with any puppy, we are continually working on polite greetings and appropriate play styles. She is very food-motivated and wants to participate in training, but does best with a handler who stays engaged with her. Viola is not a puppy you can bring home and expect to be a relaxed, calm dog.
When going on adventures, Viola would love to be included! She is a brave girl who is gaining confidence in the world. You should see her rock the obstacles in our training center! If you’re looking for a buddy to join your adventures, she would be an excellent choice. Continue building her confidence, and you’ll have an amazing hiking partner as she has the energy to get up and go, but can settle for the drive back home.
Like any puppy, Viola would benefit from continued training classes as she grows. Not only will that help her in her ‘teenage’ phase, but it can help a bond form! She could possibly blossom in dog sports or be a trick champion, but needs a partner to do so.
Youth insight:
She has pretty eyes and her nose is so cute
When she settles down she is a really good cuddler.
