Run, run, as fast as you can... to adopt our "Piglet," Melody! 🐽 This
1-year-old velvet hippo is a professional snuggler who is 100% potty
trained and a total crate-training superstar at night. She's famous for
her "piglet snorts" and her "velcro dog" personality-she just wants to
be wherever you are!
Melody is dog-social and treat-motivated, though she is looking for a
home without "sentimental" stuffed animals (she's a world-class toy
shredder!) and would do best with kids 8+.
Why We Love Melody
Melody is a true "people person." Her foster describes her as a "loving,
dopey bull in a china shop" who follows her humans from room to room.
She even tried to hop in the shower with her foster dad once just to be
close! She is famous for her signature "piglet snorts" when she's happy
and her soulful eyes that never want to lose sight of you.
The Wins:
Potty Training Pro: After a slightly rocky start, she has made
"tremendous progress" and is now doing great with her house manners.
Crate Success: While she initially "sang the songs of the shelter" in
her crate, she is now sleeping through the night in her bed like a total
lady.
Dog Social: She is a playgroup favorite! She loves other dogs and has
been very patient and gentle with smaller resident dogs, even when they
were a bit "less than welcoming" to her.
The Training Journey
Melody is a young girl with a lot of "zest," and she is still working on
a few puppy social skills:
Jumpiness: When she gets excited (especially when first coming out of
her crate), she tends to jump to say hello.
She is smart and already
understands "Sit" and "Down," but she needs a consistent leader to help
her remember her manners.
Separation Anxiety: Melody loves humans so much that she can get
distressed when left alone during the day. She would thrive in a home
where someone is around more often or with a patient family willing to
continue her crate conditioning.
Social Cues: She is still learning the concept of "gentle." She can
sometimes be a bit overbearing with other dogs who don't want to play,
so she does best with a tolerant canine sibling or as a solo star.
Ideal Match
Melody is looking for an active, "sturdy" household (kids 8+ preferred)
that can handle her 50lb wiggles and snorting snoozes. If you have a
home with plenty of chew toys (and no precious stuffed animals!), Melody
is ready to be your most devoted shadow.
