Casper, our 3
year old 9 pound Maltese mix, is pretty darn happy. How does he do it?
Ask Casper and he'll tell you the keys to happiness are 1) get plenty of
exercise, 2) eat snacks when ever you can, 3) never turn down a cuddle
and 4) don't be ashamed to beg for what you want. We're sure we don't
need to beg to find Casper his own home.
Casper was found stray
after having been attacked by other dogs. He sustained a wound to his
hip and broke several teeth defending himself. We took him in to help
him heal (we had to give him an unflattering haircut due to the mats)
and to extract those broken teeth. Now recovered, Casper is eager for
his hair to grow back so he can resume impressing everyone with his
handsomeness (sorry Casper!).
A delightful house-guest, Casper
has been charming his foster family. He seems housetrained and at some
point he was taught to sit and shake. Casper is good in his crate and is
generally quiet. Casper loves to take walks and is up for adventures.
He is excited on leash and pulls a bit, so his adopter will want to work
on leash training. If a cat wants to run from him, he would not mind
trying to chase that cat. But Casper has been great with other dogs his
size; he is understandably wary of large dogs after his incident.
With
people, Casper is very friendly and cuddly. He loves to show off his
dancing/begging skills and is happy to crawl into any available lap.
Casper asks for a collection of small squeaky toys and is hopeful his
adopter will enjoy playing fetch. We have not seen Casper with kids.
However, he resents being over-handled (us too) so we don't recommend
small children in his new home.
Casper is heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventative.
We've
been trying out Casper's keys to happiness this week. It seems to be
working. But, he left out one important tip: we're all happier if we
have a dog!
