"ABBY" lovely mature 50 lb Terrier mix "PROJECT POOCH"

"Project POOCH, quite simply, changes lives. We operate a kennel inside a youth correctional facility and pair currently incarcerated youth with shelter dogs. The youth learn kennel management, positive reinforcement, grooming, and training techniques. The youth learn what it means to be depended on by another living creature and what it means to be trusted and relied upon. And, they learn what unconditional love feels like—sometimes for the first time. Our dogs get trained, loved, and adopted into their forever homes. There is no limit to the amount of time a dog spends in our care, and we are focused on the individual needs of each dog."

"ABBY" is AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at "PROJECT POOCH"

"ABBY"

spayed female Terrier  mix, 9.5yr appx, 50 lbs

Special Considerations: Would likely do great with kids.

Abby is a sweet older girl looking for someone to treat her like the queen she is for the rest of her life. She has been bounced around to a few homes, so we are looking for someone who wants to take her on as a forever companion.

Abby is curious and playful and hasn't met a person here that she doesn't like. She enjoys soft toys, walks well on a leash, and is happy to chill in her kennel or an X-pen in our classroom.

She gets along well with other dogs and isn't reactive to other dogs.

Her previous family reported that she never had accidents in the home, and she is very good at telling us when she has to go out.

Abby had a minor skin and ear issue when she came to us, but it is resolving well with some medication.

Characteristics:

  • Very friendly with human

  • Positive to neutral with other dogs

  • Walks well on leash, knows basic cues

  • Can easily chill on her own in a kennel or x-pen

 THINGS TO BE AWARE OF

  • Abby will likely need a dental cleaning in a year.
