What do Spock, Chewbacca, and Henry, our 1 year old 20 pound terrier, have in common? They're all aliens with great hair? Good guess, but no. They're all excellent sidekicks! And what do all sidekicks need? A main character, of course (which is what we are now calling adopters). And, as much as we'd love for Henry to stay with us at Stumptown, it's time for him to find his home.
Henry was found stray and injured, likely having been hit by a car. We were asked to help as Henry needed time to heal. His injury resulted in a pretty cool scar that doesn't bother him at all but does look pretty bad-ass (important for a sidekick). He also has a wonky pelvis and rear leg where the fractures healed funny. But, after seeking the opinion of two specialists, it was determined Henry wouldn't benefit from surgery. He is comfortable as he is. Henry likely isn't cut out for long hikes, but he can take normal walks and plays like any other terrier.
Non-destructive when left alone and potty trained, Henry has been a delightful guest. Although he decided he didn't like his crate anymore, he hasn't needed it. Henry is great on a leash and loves to walk. About 50% of dogs make him nervous, but he generally does very well meeting them. The dogs that make him nervous cause Henry to give a little lip curl, but he is otherwise respectful. Henry has been good with cats he's met.
Like all sidekicks, Henry has a little FOMO and would love a main character who wants to take him out on the town. Henry thrives on a bar patio or at a house party. If it's a "hanging out at home" kind of day, Henry is good at self-entertaining. He LOVES toys. A basket of squeakies will be required for his adoption. We have not seen Henry with small kids, but he's not been aggressive at all. However, like a lot of terriers, Henry sometimes expresses his happiness with growling. For that reason, we recommend older kids in his home.
Henry is heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives.
What's the point of being a main character if you don't have someone backing you up? Need the Robin to your Batman?
