Fill out our adoption application. There is a $10 application fee due at the time of submission. Please apply on our website and we will contact you. If you’re applying from out of state to adopt a dog, please note that it is a requirement that you come meet the dog at our facility. Adoptions are available by appointment only. Description:
Meet Splash! Splash is a 1.5 year old 38.5 pounds Kelpie mix who is
looking for her new forever home. Splash is a very sweet girl, but can
be a bit timid when meeting new people. However, once she gets to know
you she is an enthusiastic and sociable young lady. Splash came into the
shelter as a stray, so we do not know any of her history before
arriving at the shelter.
1) Splash would likely do best with a person that has dog experience
due to her shy nature. If going home with a family, we recommend she go
to a home with older children who would respect Splash's sensitivity to
handling and need for space.
2) When Splash came into the shelter she had likely never been
walked on a leash before. However, she has made leaps and bounds during
her time with us! Continued basic manners and leash training would be
highly recommeded.
3) Splash can be wary of meeting new dogs and will seek comfort by
hiding behind her person, but with slow introductions and socialization
she may eventually warm up to having new dog friends. Please be sure to
duscuss proper dog to dog introductions with your adoption counselor.
4) We don't know how Splash will be with cats or other small
animals, so be sure to discuss proper introductions with your adoption
counselor to make sure Splash and any resident small animals can be good
housemates.
