LUNA" cutie!! cats, kids, dogs YES!! mature med-sz Pitbull "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"LUNA" is Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Pitbull terrier, spayed female, house trained, 9 yrs medium size

 Dogs- yes Cats-yes, Kids-yes Adoption fee $250

Personality: Affectionate, Curious, Dignified, Friendly, Smart, Loves

Today is Saturday, which is the hardest day for crossword puzzles. We struggle with the Monday puzzle, to be fair. But you know who would be great at crosswords (if she could hold a pencil)? Luna, our 9 year old 55 pound Pitbull. She LOVES puzzles. And, since Luna is so smart, she'd probably know the answer to the clue "instrument that might contain dried beans". It's a maraca, she'd shout, as she'd shake her stuffy to demonstrate. What's a 5 letter word that means "find what you've been missing?" ADOPT, obviously!

Luna was surrendered to a shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. We were asked to help as Luna suffers from allergies and her skin had been neglected for years. It's been weeks, but after the right medications and several baths, Luna's hair has grown back and her skin looks great! Allergies are life long, so Luna's adopter will have to commit to maintaining her skin. This could mean a hypoallergenic diet or keeping her on allergy medications. It's often trial and error. But, our sweet Luna is worth all the upkeep.

Luna approaches everything with gentle curiosity. She doesn't have an obvious prey drive and just studies the birds and squirrels in the yard. We have not seen Luna with cats, but suspect she'd just be interested in what they were up to. Luna is great with other dogs, large and small, and is not leash reactive. Friendly to everyone, Luna has been sweet with older kids that she's met. Besides puzzles, Luna loves car rides, cuddles, stuffies, and walking. She is good when left alone (after some initial complaints, she's gotten the hang of it) and is potty trained. Luna is happy to hang out with her people at bar patios and will charm all the other patrons.

Luna is heartworm negative and is current on her flea and heartworm preventatives. She is currently on Apoquel, an allergy medication, and we will send her adopter with some to get started. If she has to stay on this, it could run about 150 dollars a month.

Rapper whose #1 hit 'Timber' featured Ke$ha? Pitbull of course. The answer to everything!

"LARS" adorable semi-senior Shih Tzu "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"LARS" is Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Shih Tzu, neutered male, house trained, 10 yrs 14 lbs

 Dogs- yes Cats-yes, Kids-yes Adoption fee $350

Personality: Affectionate, Dignified, Friendly, Gentle, Loves

Lars, our 10 year old 14 pound ShihTzu, understands the finer things in life. If he were a human, Lars would dine at the best restaurants and would have a favorite brand of caviar. But, Lars is a dog. So he's a fan of garbage and sidewalk snacks. It's a good lesson that the finest things in life are different for everyone. Our little connoisseur is looking for a tasteful forever home.

Lars was found stray and the shelter asked us to help. He had several teeth that needed to be extracted and a couple of pesky testicles that needed to go. Lars is recovered from his surgery and thriving. Snacks always taste better with clean teeth.

Our Lars is an easy keeper. He is very friendly and loves attention, snuggling, squeaky toys and naps. Lars has picked up a charming trick where he stands on his hind feet and waves his front feet in the air to beg for pets. Irresistible. Lars is a fan of walks and struts handsomely on a leash. He has been great with dogs of all sizes and with cats. Lars is mostly house trained with an occasional marking accident (that has improved since the pesky testicles were removed) and he can be trusted to be left alone.

Lars does well with older children. Because he passionately defends tasty trash or bags of treats if he successfully steals them, we don't think Lars should live with small kids. Lars otherwise does not resource guard. Lars excels at letting people know if there is anyone outside the door. For this reason, living in an apartment with a busy shared hallway may not be the best fit. Besides his zest for trash and telling the neighbors to "get off his lawn", Lars is a perfect housemate.

Lars is heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives.

Think you have room on your lap for Lars? Tired of delivery people sneaking up on you? Have your garbage safely locked up?

"TUGBOAT handsome young Yellow LAB "OREGON HUMANE Society- Portland"

"TUGBOAT" is Available for adoption at Oregon Humane Society

"TUGBOAT

available 1/30/25

listed as "looks like" Labrador

#321954 neutered male, 1 yr 6 mth 76 lbs adoption  $400

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • I developed very soft fur as a way to trick you into petting me more!
  • I may be shy at first, but once we get to know each other I will shower you with love!
  • Playing really helps me come out my shell and it's a great way for us to bond. Plush type of toys are my favorite!
  • High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I would flourish in an active home with plenty of outlets for my energy! Physical and Mental enrichment is a must!
  • My energy and size can be a lot for little kids, but I may do better with older, dog-savvy children.

"NIGEL" in foster timid and very loving Lab/Pitmix "OREGON HUMANE Society- Portland"

"NIGEL" is Available for adoption at Oregon Humane Society

NIGEL

in foster home available 1/14/25

listed as "looks like" Labrador/American pitbull terrier

#321171 neutered male, 5 yr 5mth 69 lbs adoption  $50

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • I'm in a foster home right now, but I'm still available for adoption! Click the Meet Me button and complete the questionnaire to schedule a meet and greet appointment.
  • I might be shy at first, but I bond HARD with my people and will be your best friend!
  • Once I'm more comfortable, I'm a happy, goofy guy that loves to snuggle! My favorite thing to do is follow my people around.
  • Do you like holding hands? If I grace you with a paw, it means I like you (and I would like some more head scratches, please!)
  • When I'm feeling cozy I like to sploot out on the floor.
  • Give me some time to get to know you and we can start to do more things together! I may not be ready to explore the whole world on day 1, but I do like hiking and adventuring as long as you can help me feel safe! In town, I like short sniffy walks so I can watch all the action.
  • Don't be surprised if I put myself in a crate or under a desk when I'm feeling overwhelmed... my friends say I'm part cave-bear.
  • To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I would flourish in a quiet, calm environment and a low-traffic home. Busy apartment complexes might feel overwhelming for me.
  • After years of living in a home with too many animals, I would prefer to be the only pet, but if you go slow with introductions I might be okay with a walking or play buddy!
  • I may do best in a home with older kids who can read my body language and know when I need space.
