"ROCCO" handsome Catahoula mix "PROJECT POOCH"

"Project POOCH, quite simply, changes lives. We operate a kennel inside a youth correctional facility and pair currently incarcerated youth with shelter dogs. The youth learn kennel management, positive reinforcement, grooming, and training techniques. The youth learn what it means to be depended on by another living creature and what it means to be trusted and relied upon. And, they learn what unconditional love feels like—sometimes for the first time. Our dogs get trained, loved, and adopted into their forever homes. There is no limit to the amount of time a dog spends in our care, and we are focused on the individual needs of each dog."

"ROCCO" is AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at "PROJECT POOCH"

"ROCCO"

listed as "Catahoula mix?"neutered male, approx 3 yrs, 70 lbs(still filling out)

My name is Rocco, or Roccito Burrito, or Rocco Paco—we do a lot of nicknames around here!—and my POOCH team think I’m one of the best boys that ever was! I was a favorite at the Marion County Shelter and was there for a few months, but no one was interested in me. So I got to come to POOCH and learn lots of things and make new friends. Now it’s time for me to find my forever family. Is it yours?

Special Considerations: Is curious about countertops; adopter will need to work on potential for counter-grazin Needs: Someone who loves sweet goofy big boys!

"HONEY"

(soon to be spayed) female, 1.5 yr, 11 lbs

Special Considerations: Small and can be a bit of a door dasher. Needs: Someone who is willing to go slowly with her so she can warm up and not feel nervous; this doesn’t take long

WHAT MY YOUTH HANDLERS SAY ABOUT ME

  • I love to be held like a baby, and will happily drift off to sleep in your arms

  • I like to do a little bear dance when I greet my people

  • I sound like a chicken or a velociraptor or sometimes like a dolphin

"VIVIENNE" young Cattle Dog "PROJECT POOCH"

"Vivienne loves to sleep in and be a lazy cattle dog. she lets loose in the afternoon with that fun energy and makes friends with other dogs. She loves water and blows bubbles in her water dish in the summer. she recently showed us she enjoys snow too!"  PP Facebook

"VIVIENNE" is AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at "PROJECT POOCH"

"VIVIENNE"

spayed female, 1.5 yr, 45 lbs

Needs: A single-family home with a yard, or a townhome with a sizable enough yard that she can go potty outside without having to go on a walk as she decompresses and adjusts to her new home; not recommended for an apartment.

Would benefit from continued training. Not recommended for placement in a home with cats or other small animals.

  • Love water—pools, sprinklers—you name it, she likes it!

  • Enjoys a good snuggle

  • Walks well on leash

  • Can relax/chill on her own

  • Enjoys playing

  • Can be a little shy at first

  • Can be reactive (vocal) with some other dogs.

Vivienne is a friendly flirty girl who loves dog friends. She is learning about the world and sometimes gets nervous when she encounters new things. She’s looking for a companion who will take the time with her to show her all the things the world has to offer. Her confidence has grown since she came to POOCH and she no longer feels shy about walking in and out of doors. She found her love for sprinklers and splashing in pools at POOCH. Vivienne LOVES the water. She can lounge in the hot sun for hours and then wear herself out throwing toys in the air and zooming in the yard. She is very interested in other dogs and sometimes uses her big girl voice to let passing dogs know they forgot to come say “hello” to her. The youth have been teaching her some manners with passing dogs and she’s made lots of progress. This training will need to continue as needs guidance from her person to continue to teach her what is expected when she has these big feelings. She has made lots of doggy friends during her stay at POOCH. She needs a slower introduction as she is still learning her doggy manners. Vivienne is a herding breed and has the natural tendencies to chase things that move fast. She has not been cat or small animal tested. It’s not recommended to place her in a home with cats due to what we know about herding breeds.

" TILLIE" is Available for Adoption at "CLACKAMAS CO ANIMAL SERVICES"

TILLIE  listed as German Shepherd, children 13 and up

Shelter ID: 105768 spayed female, 1 yrs 6mth 52 lbs

Description: Tillie is shy when she first meets new people, but with some snacks and patience, her golden personality shines through! Tillie is an approximately 1.5 year old German Shepherd mix who weighs a slight 42lbs. She loves belly rubs and scratches from her friends here at the shelter, and actively solicits attention from those that she knows. She is still learning that leashes aren't something to be afraid of, and knows that her perfect new home will only expose her to new situations when she is ready - pushing her into situations she isn't ready for will be very scary for Tillie! If you're looking for a sweet lady to join your home, Tillie can't wait for you to meet her!

1) Tiller would likely do best in a home that has experience with shy or nervous dogs. She was running stray in the mountains and took several attempts to be caught, and if pushed into new situations too quickly, may get very fearful and scared.

2) Tiller was found running with a male dog, and has shown indifference to other dogs here at the shelter. She may do great in a home with other dogs! If you have any other dogs in your home, please schedule a time for them to meet Tiller to make sure they can be good housemates.

3) We don't know how Tiller will be with cats or other small animals, so please be sure to discuss proper introductions between any resident small animals and cats with your adoption counselor.

4) Tiller is a nervous lady at first, and would likely do best in a home that is lower energy and quieter. Because of this, she may do best with no children under the age of 13 years of age.

" MUMMY" is Available for Adoption at "CLACKAMAS CO ANIMAL SERVICES"

MUMMY

Shelter ID: 105588 spayed female, 4 yrs  52 lbs

Description: Mummy is on the hunt for her family. Just look at that face! This wonderful lady is aptly named Mummy as she appears to have recently finished nursing a litter of puppies. Her mammary tissue is still shrinking and so she does not quite have her pre-mom bod back yet. Mummy very much enjoys people! She is a short American Pit Bull Terrier who currently weighs in at 52 pounds and is around 4 years old. Mummy is a happy lady who is looking for a home where she can spend her best years being loved and giving love. Are you looking for a companion that is happy to just lounge about, go for regular walks and an occasional car ride? Then look no further - this is your girl! Mummy is a clean and quiet lady who walks nicely on lead. She has done well around other dogs outside in play yards and while on walks. Minimal grooming will be needed - just an occasional bath and likely ear cleaning. As always, it is good to do your research on the breed of interest. Check out the fun, loyal, determined and often sensitive side that many Pitties possess!

1) Mummy may do best in a home with dog experience that will give her exercise and enrichment through walks, hiking and hanging out in the backyard and amongst the couch cushions. Mummy would love to go on family adventures with you!

2) We don't know how Mummy will do with cats or other small animals but she has not shown any prey drive at the shelter. Please discuss proper introductions with your adoption counselor to make sure that Mummy and any resident small pets will do wonderfully together.

3) Mummy would likely do best with children 9 years of age or older due to her size and excited nature.

4) Mummy has been quite tolerant of the dogs here at the shelter, but prefers the gentlemen. She would rather not live with another female dog, and would like any resident dogs in the household to be boys. If you have a resident dog, please discuss setting up a meet with your them and Mummy to make sure they can be friends.

"ARIEL" 5 mth PUPPY *SPECIAL NEEDS * African Mastiff "NEW LIFE ASHER HOUSE" (formerly Family Dogs New Life Shelter)

(Note, I haven't met these pups, and don't know their medical needs,  but hope they get great homes, where they do not live in any pain during their lifetime due to their medical condition)

AVAILABLE for ADOPTION at NEW LIFE ASHER HOUSE!  (formerly Family Dogs New Life Shelter)

ARIEL adoptables

ARIEL, listed as African Mastiff (Boerboel) (spayed) female, 5 mths 39 lbs and growing

Kids yes,  Dogs  yes,  Cats yes

Every princess needs to be rescued now and then, so here I am looking for my family-in-shining-armor! Sure, there will be trials and tribulations along the way…a young princess such as myself still has plenty to learn, and much guidance will be needed. I’m also going to need lots of TLC. I was born with some bone deformities that will take extra special care along the way so that I can stay as heathy, happy and mobile as can be. And what a happy puppy I am! So affectionate and snuggly, and of course full of puppy fun! I enjoy the attention of people kids, other dogs, cats you name it!
So what do you say? Do you have what it takes to give me my fairytale ending?

My adoption fee is $400 and includes microchip & registration, spay, leash/collar, food sample, toy & treat packet.

"SHELBY" Voted "MOST UNIQUE LOOKING" MEd SZ "NEW LIFE ASHER HOUSE" (formerly Family Dogs New Life Shelter)

AVAILABLE for ADOPTION at NEW LIFE ASHER HOUSE!  (formerly Family Dogs New Life Shelter)

SHELBY adoptables

Shelby listed as Shar Pei/Shiba Inu (spayed) female, 1 yr 46 lbs (still growing)

Kids 5+,  Dogs - yes,  Cats -no

I’m like a caffeine shot in dog form—nonstop energy, slightly chaotic, and definitely knocking over things just because I can. Balls, sticks, socks—if it moves, I’m chasing it. I’d be perfect for kids over 5! I’ll entertain them with my professional zoomie moves and my “Whoops, did I just knock that over?” face.
I’m still learning, so I need a human who’s ready to reward me with treats (because I’m very treat-motivated). Training me with positive reinforcement is like opening a door to a world of tail wags and happy dances. I haven’t met any cats yet, so let’s skip them for now. Dogs? I haven’t spent a lot of time playing with just yet but I can totally be your BFF once we do the slow, proper intro thing—no need to rush into this.
If you’re ready for a playful, slightly mischievous, treat-loving adventure buddy, I’m your girl!

My adoption fee is $300 and includes spay, microchip & registration, leash/collar, food sample, toy & treat packet.

"OOGIE" handsome GS/Anatolian Shep "New Life Asher HOUSE" formerly Family DOg NEW LIFE Shelter"

AVAILABLE for ADOPTION at NEW LIFE ASHER HOUSE!  (formerly Family Dogs New Life Shelter)

OOGIE adoptables

OOGIE, listed as German Shepherd + Anatolian Shepherd Mix) (neutered male)

3 yrs 81lbs

Kids 6+,  Dogs  yes,  Cats unknown

The name’s Oogie, and while I may sound like a character from a Halloween movie, I promise I’m more “sweet and friendly” than spooky! I’m a shepherd mix with a lot of energy, a passion for playtime, and a nose that never stops moving.

I get along well with other dogs, but let’s take it slow and do proper intros—Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither are perfect friendships. If you’ve got kids over 6 who can give me some space when I need it, we’ll get along great. I’m friendly, but I like to take my time to make sure everyone’s on the same page. And as for cats, I haven't met any so let's stick to my doggy friends.

I’m super treat-motivated (I mean, who isn’t?), and I could use some positive reinforcement training to help me be the best version of myself. I’m a quick learner and eager to please—so, if you’ve got treats, I’ve got the skills!

Let’s team up and create some unforgettable moments together!

My adoption fee is $240 and includes microchip & registration, neuter, reduced-cost training class, free veterinary exam, leash/collar, food sample, toy & treat packet.

"RARO" loving RETIREMENT home Please- ROTTIE MIX "NEW LIFE ASHER HOUSE" (formerly Family Dogs New Life Shelter)

AVAILABLE for ADOPTION at NEW LIFE ASHER HOUSE!  (formerly Family Dogs New Life Shelter)

RARO adoptables

RARO, listed as Rottweiler mix (neutered) male, 12 yrs, 71 lbs

Kids 10+,  Dogs - yes,  Cats no

Looking for a sweet ol’ man to hang out with? A laid-back fella to accompany you on evening strolls and sunny afternoons in the garden? Well, I might just strike your fancy. Name’s Raro and I am a 12-year-old Rottie mix patiently waiting for my day to come…the day I find my forever home. I’m a real good boy, house trained and I have some basic training too. I like to take things slow and easy but I truly am a lovable fella and I just adore attention, especially a good neck rub or booty scratch! Us older folks need a little massage now and then…it’s just part of getting older, right? The sore muscles, a little dental decay here, a cataract there, the occasional trip to the family doc. Thankfully I just had a dental cleaning done, so I don’t have to go to the doc anytime soon! Ya, I know how it goes, and I’m sure you understand too. I am hoping that this new forever home of mine will come soon—equipped with a soft dog bed, plenty of TLC, and a daily dog biscuit. Older folks will suit me well, I am just not looking for the energy young children provide so a home with kids 10+ will do, but I do just fine with other dogs who respect a grumpy old man… So hey, maybe tomorrow will be my day?

My adoption fee is $160 and includes neuter, microchip & registration, leash/collar, food sample, toy & treat packet.

"MIDNIGHT" enthusiastic and CUTE! Teenage mix "NEW LIFE ASHER HOUSE" (formerly Family Dogs New Life Shelter)

AVAILABLE for ADOPTION at NEW LIFE ASHER HOUSE!  (formerly Family Dogs New Life Shelter)

MIDNIGHT adoptables

MIDNIGHT, listed as Rottweiler/Lab (guestimate) (spayed) female, 9 mths, 41 lbs (still growing)

Kids 5+,  Dogs - yes,  Cats unknown

I’m a puppy on a mission: to fill your life with joy, laughter, and maybe a little bit of chaos. I’m Midnight! I love meeting new people — and by love, I mean I will greet you like you’re a celebrity and I’m the world’s most enthusiastic paparazzi. Expect tail wags, face licks, and possibly a few dramatic spins because I’m just that excited
I’m still a puppy, so I’m learning all the things — but don’t worry, I’m super smart (and by smart, I mean I know treats are involved in anything remotely "training"). So if you’ve got snacks and a little patience, I’ll learn whatever you want… or at least try!
I’m totally down for adventure — walks, runs, trips to the park, squirrel-chasing contests (spoiler: I’m always winning). Kids over 5? Perfect! I’ll happily join your family’s chaos. Cats? Uhhhh, we’re gonna play it safe say that’s not a thing for now. I’m cool with other dogs, too, as long as we do the proper introductions.
If you’re into fun, adventures, and having a ridiculously cute puppy as your sidekick, let’s make this official!

My adoption fee is $300 and includes microchip & registration, spay, leash/collar, food sample, toy & treat packet.

Animal ID: 324606 spayed female 6yr 3 mth (came in underweight at 60 lbs, now 74 lbs)

no cats, children 8 and up

Hi everybody, I'm Toffee, and I've been waiting patiently for my forever home. 💖 I'm a sweet and energetic 6-year-young Pitbull type mix with a heart full of love to give. I've been a long-term resident here, and I'm really hoping to find a family to call my own.🏡 I absolutely adore long walks where I can explore all the fascinating smells and playtime is my jam! 🐾 I love chasing toys and showing off my impressive zoomies. Don't let my age fool you - I've got plenty of energy and enthusiasm! I'm also very treat-motivated and know a great "sit", "down" and even "leave it" command. (It's worth noting that I do have a prey drive, so a home without small animals would be best.) I'm looking for a loving home with kids 8 years old and up. I'm a big, strong girl and while I'm super affectionate, I can get a little excited/ rowdy during play. Older kids who understand dog body language would be the perfect playmates for me. Even better, I'd thrive in an active home where we can go on adventures together! Think hiking, exploring new sniff spots, and anything that gets us out and about - I'm up for the challenge! Backyard playtime is fun, but I'm looking for a family who can offer me more if they are able. ⛰️ If you're looking for an active, affectionate companion who will greet you with a wagging tail and a big smile every single day, please come meet me! I'm ready to shower you with love and finally start my new life. ❤️
