"APOLLO" young CATTLE DOG "CLACKAMAS County DOG SERVICES " in Clackamas, OR

The dogs at Clackamas Co shelter have a harder time getting adopted since recent budget cuts closed the shelter on Saturdays.

The longer stays are tough on dogs!  Please consider taking some time on a Tues thru Friday 1:00-4:00 pm to visit with one of the adoptable dogs!

"Fill out our adoption application. There is a $10 application fee due at the time of submission. Please apply on our website and we will contact you. If you’re applying from out of state to adopt a dog, please note that it is a requirement that you come meet the dog at our facility. Adoptions are available by appointment only. We will call you as soon as your approved adoption application is next in our queue. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we find homes for pets as quickly and efficiently as possible. For more information on the adoption process, call 503-655-8628 or email dogshelter@clackamas.us.

"APOLLO" Available for Adoption at "CLACKAMAS CO DOG Services"

Shelter ID: 106397 Breed: Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Mix

neutered male Age: 1 yrs 30 lbs   adoption fee $210?

Description: Hello, my name is Apollo. Like my name, I'm ready to shine bright in someone's life. I am about 1 year old and currently weigh around 30 pounds, though my healthy weight will likely be closer to 40–45 pounds. I came into the shelter underweight, but I have been enjoying good meals, treats, and lots of care while I wait for my forever home.

I can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but once I warm up, I become a total velcro dog. I love affection, pets, and being close to my people. I also love being outside and would make a great partner for walks, adventures, and spending time outdoors. I may be on the petite side, but I have a big heart and lots of love to give.

Please fill out an application so we can have a proper introduction and get to know each other. I hope to meet you soon!
Apollo loves treats, attention, and outdoor time. He would likely enjoy walks, adventures, and activities that allow him to bond closely with his person.

- We are unsure how Apollo would do with small animals or cats, but he is a herding breed! Please be sure to discuss any potential interactions with smaller animals with your adoption counselor.

Apollo has shown some minimal food resource guarding behaviors toward other dogs when they pass by his kennel. We believe this is a result of his previous circumstances where he may have needed to scavenge for food.
Apollo has done well with people handling his food and has not shown these behaviors toward humans.
Due to this behavior, we are recommending he be the only dog in the household.

-Apollo would do best in a home with older children who can respect his space and help him continue building confidence and security.
