"EMPRESS" *affectionte* *Dignified* CHIHUAHUA "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance (and often helps take dogs when shelter is overcrowded)

"EMPRESS"Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Adoption $150  Breed: Chihuahua Mix

spayed female 11 yrs 13 lbs  Housetrained: yes

ok with Dogs - Yes,  Cats - unknown   Kids - unknown

Personality: Affectionate, Brave, Dignified, Friendly, Funny, Playful

adoption application

Empress, our 11 year old 13 pound chihuahua mix, is a typical royal. Sure, she's the ruler of an entire empire (we are not clear where this empire is and don't want to offend Empress by asking), but Empress would never let on that she has a single care in the world. She is very clear about what she wants, and what Empress wants is to be pampered. We've been granted by her majesty the task of finding her a home willing to do just that.

Empress was surrendered to the shelter after her person died. Obviously, the shelter is no place for someone as regal as Empress, so we took her in. Empress needed a bit of sprucing up. She had a mouthful of rotten teeth, had yet to be spayed, and we diagnosed her with a heart murmur. The good news is that the murmur appears to be benign. She's healed from her procedures, has a smile fit for an oil painting, and is much more comfortable.

At home, Empress love people and likes to cuddle. Potty trained and crate trained, Empress is fairly easy. Like a lot of senior dogs, Empress struggles with transitions. In new situations, she may complain more than normal, until she realises the accommodations are up to standard. Because she's a senior dog, Empress would do best with older kids and in a home without too many stairs.

Empress walks like a cloud on leash and enjoys a leisurely stroll. She is good with other dogs of all sizes. Empress is not into contact sports, however. She will play bow and give a royal wave to her housemates, but Empress would likely prefer to live with other laid back dogs. We have not seen Empress with cats.

Empress is an excellent communicator. This manifests in a series of Ewok-like squeaks and grunts and she'll bark at her person to make her desires known. Typically, her desire is to sleep. Ruling is hard work and apparently requires 20 hours of shut-eye per day.

Empress is heartworm negative and is current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.

Are you up to the task of serving royalty?

"MOOSE" *affectionate* *couch potato* *playful* senior CHIHUAHUA mix "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance (and often helps take dogs when shelter is overcrowded)

"MOOSW"Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Adoption $150  Breed: Chihuahua Mix

neutered male 15 yrs (maybe younger) 18 lbs  Housetrained: yes

Ok with Dogs Yes...Cats yes...Kids  Yes

Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Playful, Couch Potato

adoption application

Moose, our senior 18 pound chihuahua mix, is very happy it’s fall. To be fair, he was happy when it was late summer too. He was happy that time it rained and he’s happy to see the sun. You see, being happy is kind-of Moose’s thing. We can’t wait to see how thrilled he’ll be to meet his new family.

Found stray, Moose (like a lot of little dogs) had terrible dental disease. We took him in to address that so that his breath is as pleasant as he is. Although he lost quite a few molars, he’s recovered well and is back to tap-dancing for his treats. Moose also had untreated fleas and his skin had suffered because of it. With antibiotics, his hair grew back beautifully.

Described as “the easiest foster dog I have ever had”, Moose is great in the house. He’s quiet, tolerates/ignores cats, and loves other dogs. Moose is responsible enough to be left alone and is potty trained. However, he does need to go every few hours (he’s an older gentleman after all). Moose doesn’t pull on his leash and is excited to take walks.

The shelter guessed Moose to be about 15 years old. He’s not telling us, but Moose could be younger. He is very playful still and trots around after toys. Moose loves attention and is happy to curl up next to his person on the couch.

Moose is heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives. Due to his sensitivity to fleas, Moose should be kept on year round preventatives. His adoption fee is $150.
What’s a better autumn goal than giving a great dog a great retirement home. Is that home yours? Apply to adopt on our website! https://www.stumptownstrays.org/adoption-application

"RON" BLACK DOG SYNDROME?? easy-going PITBULL **GOOD with DOGS, CATS, KIDS** "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance (and often helps take dogs when shelter is overcrowded)

"RON"Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Adoption $200  Breed: Pit Bull Terrier

Neutered male 7 yrs 75 lbs  Housetrained: yes

ok with Dogs - Yes,  Cats - Yes,   Kids - Yes

Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Gentle, Loyal, Couch Potato

adoption application

Ron, our 7 (ish) year-old 75 pound pitty is about as charming as they come. He's so friendly that if we didn't know any better, we would think Ron is running for office. But Ron's only agenda is to make more friends. It's time to find Ron the great home he deserves.

Found stray, Ron happily walked up to a stranger to ask for help. We took him in to address his skin and teeth. Ron had untreated fleas which caused hairloss on his back and he had some badly broken molars. With a little TLC, Ron's coat is back in shape and he's had his dental procedure. Ron's breath is now as sweet as his personality.

Ron has been a dream to foster. He's not destructive and will make good use of every dog bed in the house. Ron can be trusted to be left alone (he'll catch up on some zzz's), and is potty trained. If Ron needs to go out, he stares at his person intensely until they ask him if he wants out, which he'll answer with an "Awoo".

For fun, Ron likes sniff walks. Although Ron would follow his person to the end of the world, really long walks are hard on him due to arthritis in his hips and knees. Ron is on a daily NSAID for pain; we recommend this be continued long term. The only time Ron pulls on his leash is to say hello to other people, dogs or cats. He's been great with the other animals he's met. One of Ron's favorite hobbies is riding in cars (any car, really. Big fan). Ron isn't very impressed with toys, but he'll take one from his foster mom and play with it for 30 seconds so he doesn't hurt her feelings. Ron likes to be the little spoon when cuddling and would be happy to be snuggled for hours.

Ron is heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives. He's had normal senior blood work. We'll send Ron's adopter with several months worth of flea prevention and a good supply of NSAIDs.

We're so impressed with Ron that we're thinking of filling out an application ourselves.

" SENIOR HOUND BOYFRIEND ALERT
Meet Reggie
A 13-year-old, 65-lb Redbone Coonhound mix who would like everyone to know that “senior” does NOT mean slow.
This handsome red-headed guy still has some serious pep in his step. He’s playful, strong, adventurous, food motivated, and fully prepared to follow his nose wherever it tells him to go.
Reggie has been with his family since he was a puppy, but his person is now very ill and wants to make sure their best boy is safe, loved, and settled into a new home.

A few things to know about Reggie:

🐾 Housetrained, crate trained + leash trained
🐾 Friendly and curious with other dogs
🐱 Certified cat guy. His kitty friends have even climbed into his crate to sleep with him 🥹
🐾 Knows sit, come, no + no bark
🐾 Still handles stairs and gets in/out of the car himself
🐾 Loves walks, playtime, snacks + being with his people
🏡 Needs a securely fenced yard
⛈️ Thunder and fireworks are not his thing
👋 A little unsure of new people at first, but settles once he knows everything is okay

Reggie is looking for something pretty simple: good walks, a safe yard, patience, companionship, and someone to call his person again. ❤️
At 13, he still has plenty of energy, personality, and love left to give. This sweet old hound deserves to spend his golden years knowing he belongs.

✨ Come get your handsome senior hound. Reggie is ready for his next chapter. ✨
