🌟 Meet Jasper: A Beautiful, Affectionate Homebody!
If you first met Jasper in his shelter kennel, you might see a boy
completely overwhelmed by the noise. When he first arrived, he was so
terrified that he would tremble and hide from the commotion. But thanks
to the patience of our behavior team and a wonderful break in a home,
Jasper has started to blossom into an incredibly loving, gentle
companion. He is a stunningly beautiful soul who just needs a soft place
to land.
🏡
The Ultimate Couch Potato & Houseguest- In Foster!
Once Jasper realizes he is safe inside a home, his true, sweet
personality shines. He is quite the homebody who loves nothing more than
his predictable indoor routines!
A+ Manners: He knows his basic commands (Sit, Shake, Wait, and comes
when called). He is an incredibly quick learner, highly eager to please,
and takes his treats with a very gentle mouth.
Kennel Trained:
He is fully kennel trained and is a very polite
houseguest-he isn't destructive at all, though he does enjoy a good chew
session on his favorite balls and toys.
World-Class Cuddler: Jasper is intensely affectionate with his chosen
people. His favorite activity is cuddling next to you on the couch, and
when he falls asleep, he rolls onto his back-which is officially the
cutest thing ever.
🐾
Social Style: Dog Friendly & Sensitive to Noise
Jasper is dog-friendly! In shelter playgroups, his confidence completely
soared when he was around other pups. He engaged in beautiful play
bows, loved a good game of chase, and actively sought out his dog
friends for play and cuddles.
His preference: While he loves dog buddies, he is not a fan of loud,
chaotic barking. He would thrive either with a calm resident dog or as
an only pet, as long as his human is around to keep him company.
Cats: We received a report that he has successfully lived with cats in
the past! However, due to his recent life transitions, any introductions
to smaller animals should be done slowly.
🚶♂️ Walking & Lifestyle Needs: Navigating His Sensitive Side
At an estimated 40-45 lbs, (Note listed at- 37 lbs?)Jasper is on the smaller side and very easy
to physically manage on a leash. However, the world can still feel a bit
big and scary to him sometimes.
Building Confidence Outdoors: Jasper can be anxious on walks and is
still learning to navigate busy environments. He will sometimes pull out
of nerves or freeze when he hears loud noises like trains. He needs a
patient handler who will provide gentle reassurance, use high-value
treats to guide him, and help him slowly adjust to busier neighborhoods.
Active Environments: Because of his sensitive nature, Jasper can
occasionally become overstimulated by sudden, fast-moving activity. He
recently watched a child running in a distance and lunged out of intense
focus (much like seeing a squirrel). Because busy environments can push
him past his comfort threshold, we recommend a mature home without
highly active or young children so he can keep his stress levels low.
The Power of the "Lean": When Jasper feels unsure, he will lean his
entire body weight directly into his person for pets and reassurance.
Hearing that he is a "good boy" completely calms his anxious energy and
melts his fears away.
Jasper has been through a lot of changes recently after losing his
original owner, but he is so ready to bond deeply with a new family. His
current caregiver is fully dedicated to walking his future adopters
through his transition period to set him up for total success. If you
are looking for a loyal, beautiful, and deeply loving companion to share
your couch, Jasper is waiting for you!
Jasper is neutered, treat-motivated, and looking for a patient forever
home.
