LUNA" good with CATS, Kids, Dogs! gentle mature med-sz Pitbull "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"LUNA" is Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Pitbull terrier, spayed female, house trained, 9 yrs medium size

Dogs- yes Cats-yes, Kids-yes Adoption fee sponsored

Personality: Affectionate, Curious, Dignified, Friendly, Smart, Loves

Sweet Luna, our 9 year old 55 pound pittie, has still not found her own forever home.
Are you surprised? Because we are. This girl is the whole package! Smart, fun, and friendly, Luna loves all people and she’s good with dogs AND cats.
When her foster humans take her out, people SWOON over her. She’s a delight to hang out with at bar and restaurant patios and is so happy to tag along. A true blue companion, Luna would love to go anywhere with you. She’s the best pup riding in the car and often goes to the shop and works with her foster dad - loud noises don’t get to this girl!
Luna is curious and nosey (pittie lovers know all about that!) and not afraid of anything.
She came to us with allergies and skin that had been neglected for years and we worked hard to get her fixed up and comfortable. Her adopter will need to commit to helping her maintain her skin, which could mean a hypoallergenic diet or keeping her on allergy medications. It’s often trial and error with allergies.
Luna will pay back all you put into her tenfold with more love than you could ever hope for, lots of laughs, and joy every single day.
Portland’s sunny days and perfect bar patio weather is so close, so why not apply to adopt Luna today? She’s so ready to hang with you and charm the whole block! Learn more and apply: https://www.stumptownstrays.org/dogs/luna   Stumptown FB post 3/2/25

Today is Saturday, which is the hardest day for crossword puzzles. We struggle with the Monday puzzle, to be fair. But you know who would be great at crosswords (if she could hold a pencil)? Luna, our 9 year old 55 pound Pitbull. She LOVES puzzles. And, since Luna is so smart, she'd probably know the answer to the clue "instrument that might contain dried beans". It's a maraca, she'd shout, as she'd shake her stuffy to demonstrate. What's a 5 letter word that means "find what you've been missing?" ADOPT, obviously!

Luna was surrendered to a shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. We were asked to help as Luna suffers from allergies and her skin had been neglected for years. It's been weeks, but after the right medications and several baths, Luna's hair has grown back and her skin looks great! Allergies are life long, so Luna's adopter will have to commit to maintaining her skin. This could mean a hypoallergenic diet or keeping her on allergy medications. It's often trial and error. But, our sweet Luna is worth all the upkeep.

Luna approaches everything with gentle curiosity. She doesn't have an obvious prey drive and just studies the birds and squirrels in the yard. We have not seen Luna with cats, but suspect she'd just be interested in what they were up to. Luna is great with other dogs, large and small, and is not leash reactive. Friendly to everyone, Luna has been sweet with older kids that she's met. Besides puzzles, Luna loves car rides, cuddles, stuffies, and walking. She is good when left alone (after some initial complaints, she's gotten the hang of it) and is potty trained. Luna is happy to hang out with her people at bar patios and will charm all the other patrons.

Luna is heartworm negative and is current on her flea and heartworm preventatives. She is currently on Apoquel, an allergy medication, and we will send her adopter with some to get started. If she has to stay on this, it could run about 150 dollars a month.

Rapper whose #1 hit 'Timber' featured Ke$ha? Pitbull of course. The answer to everything!

"TASHA" shy, scared, MINI Weimaraner mix "YAKIMA HUMANE SOCIETY" WA

Yakima, WA is a long drive from Portland, but the Yakima Humane Society seems like a decent animal shelter that could use a boost.   They spay/neuter all their adoption pets and try to do adequate adoption screening (which is more than can be currently said of Mult County animal shelter!)

"Tasha" this little scared Weimaraner mix came up in a search field and I couldn't resist featuring her!  Take a look at the other dogs in the shelter too! Lots of nice big dogs available at that shelter

https://yakimahumane.org/

SASHA  Pet id 57869543

listed as Weimaraner /Terrier mix, spayed female, 2 yrs, 28 lbs  Adoption fee $175

https://yakimahumane.org/adopt/dogs/detail.html?id=57869543

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"RUE" NICE dog!! (DNA tested - Tibetan Mastiff/poodle!) "INDIGO RESCUE"

This was a BIG surprise! RUE's DNA results came back as 100 percent Tibetan Mastiff! (but 100 percent TM seems off? as her sister is a large percent Poodle)   note- on petfinder she is still listed as a Schnauzer/Poodle mix

==========================

REALLY surprised that RUE hasn't gotten any adopter interest! Rue came from MCAS as an unclaimed stray and was a mess...but her fosters have gotten her all cleaned up and worked with her anxiety and separation issues. She's not perfect, but very nice! Rue does play rough and would benefit from another compatible dog in the home
She is so CUTE!

"INDIGO RESCUE"  helps dogs in need that are coming from the local County Shelters

"RUE"  is available for adoption with "Indigo Rescue"

Spayed female, approx 2 yrs, 65 lbs
Affectionate, playful, smart, athletic
good in a home with other dogs
adoption fee $600

"Meet Rue!  This sweet girl is some kind of doodle...we think she's Standard Poodle mixed with Schnauzer (Schnoodle), but she could be Poodle mixed with something else. The shelter vet estimated her age at two years, and she weighs approximately 65lbs.

Rue came to the county shelter a mess. She was filthy, terrified, and had obviously nursed puppies recently. The shelter environment was overwhelmingly scary for her so she didn't really interact with the humans much, but she liked play time with other dogs.

Since getting into a foster home with another doodle dog, Rue has really warmed up. She loves cuddles and affection from her people, and she loves playing with the other dog in her foster home (although sometimes she can play a little rough). She loves to run and play outside. She plays with sticks and toys, and indoors she loves puzzle games. As you can see from the pictures we posted of her after and then her before pics, Rue looks like a different dog since being bathed and groomed. She feels lots better, too!

Rue does NOT like being in a crate. She definitely has some separation anxiety and will do best in a home where she is not alone very much of the time. She is a very sweet companion so for someone who works from home she'll be great! With patience and continued training she will continue to learn routines and improve in her anxiety about being alone. Because she has almost definitely been walked on a leash before, she is barky when she sees another dog during her walks. This can be deterred by asking her to sit, and 'watch' you while the other dog passes by. As long as she keeps looking at you, she is rewarded with treats.

This is a very smart, sweet girl who came from a terrible start, but we know she is going to blossom into a great dog.

The first part of our process is to have you complete our adoption application. This helps us make compatible matches. You can find the application on our indigorescue.org website under the Adoption tab. We’ll get back to you from there.
**Please note: Indigo Rescue only adopts to homes within 30 miles of Beaverton, Oregon. Thank you

Here is one of Rue's relatives who also tested 100 percent Tibetan Mastiff.

"BRISTOL" STILL AVailable Mellow GOLDENDoodle/Weimaraner "OREGON WEIMARANER RESCUE"

Bristol needs a home - foster or adoption! Her owner is having health issues and cannot keep her much longer. Bristol is a lovely girl and will make someone a wonderful companion.
If you can foster, please let us know!! Bristol is an easy keeper. Send us a FB message or email to info@oregonweimrescue.org.

===========================  Bristol is smart, loving, gorgeous, calm, healthy, intuitive, and easy. She is currently having to live in an outbuilding with other dogs and she wants to be an inside family dog again.

She is 50%weimaraner 25%Golden Retriever %25 Poodle
"BRISTOL" is Available for adoption at OREGON WEIMARANER RESCUE

BRISTOL

spayed female, 6.5 yr, 75 lbs (her ideal weight is 65 lbs)

Golden Retriever 25%, Weimaraner 50%, Poodle 25%,

current location: Bonney Lake WA.... Adoption Fee $200

BELIEVED COMPATIBILITY WITH:

CHILDREN:  No  (hasn't been around any)

CATS:  No

DOGS:  Yes

"On 1/19/25 an OWR volunteer (Eileen) who has evaluated several dogs for us over the years, took her Weimaraner Mavryk to a park to meet Bristol and her owner this morning.  She provided a lot of positive feedback about this nice girl!

Bristol was evaluated by an OWR volunteer and learned some nice things about her ...

Eileen said Bristol is a very sweet, happy dog and that this was the easiest evaluation she has done for us. Bristol is calm and friendly and she walked well on leash.  Eileen gave her a few commands and she did them with ease (she knows Sit, Stay and Shake).

Bristol met Eileen's male Weimaraner and the two were interested in meeting but then got back to sniffing grass and ignored each other.

Bristol is a wonderful combination of breeds and it shows in her intelligence, calmness and curiosity. She is ¼ Golden Retriever, ¼ Poodle and ½ Weimaraner).

Eileen was impressed by Bristol’s gentle personality but also the condition of her beautiful teeth, manicured nails and beautiful coat (it’s very soft). She could see that Bristol has been well cared for and loved by her owner.

Unfortunately, Bristol is having to live with several other dogs in an outbuilding while her owner is in the middle of a difficult transition in her life. Suffice it to say, Bristol needs a bath and a new loving home where she lives inside with her people, and perhaps enjoy the company of an easy-going dog companion.

Bristol’s original bio follows with minor updates. Please let us know if you are interested in adopting this wonderful girl!

Meet Bristol! This beautiful girl is looking for a companion. Someone she can adore, snuggle next to, and join on outings. And if you will allow it, she will lay on your lap - all 85lbs of her and her wonderfully soft fur. Bristol loves running off leash and exploring, but also likes walking on leash. And, she is fabulous in the car so she is ready to go where you go!

Bristol is 6.5 years old, spayed, house trained, and current on vaccines. Her ideal weight is around 65lbs. She is a WeimarGoldenDoodle - her Dad is a purebred  Weimaraner and her Mom is ½ Golden Retriever and ½ Poodle. Her owner has had her since she was 3 months old and they’ve moved a few times, always to remote areas where she and Bristol could hike and enjoy the outdoors. She adores Bristol but must rehome her due to circumstances she cannot change.

From Bristol’s Owner:

‘Bristol is a very calm, keen and intuitive girl. She has never been sick and is not a problem dog on any level. She is VERY much into her person and LOVES with ALL her heart and soul. She has never been around kids, but will do well with a devoted couple, without cats and possibly another dog. Unfortunately, I am no longer in a stable place, and I want her to be in one.’

Bristol is a good girl; she is not crate trained but she sleeps quietly on a dog bed at night.  Currently, when her person is away from home for a few hours, Bristol is with her dog mates in the barn or garage and does not fuss. We suspect she would be fine left alone in the house in time (she is house trained).

Bristol has lived with several medium to large dogs her whole life and gotten along well with them. She is not accustomed to meeting new dogs so she will need practice (she does not react badly but is uncomfortable). For her home, an easy going, medium to large dog should prove to be a good match.  She will do fine as an only dog as well because she will connect deeply with her person.

Cats and chickens are not a go for Bristol. And since she has never lived with children nor spent time with them outside the home, kids in the home should be 16 years or older.

Bristol's ideal home is one with people who really enjoy the companionship of a loving dog, have time to go on daily walks and have a modest-size fenced yard.

If you are interested in adopting Bristol, please fill out an adoption application.

"CHIHUAHUA mix PUPPIES" (Bakery Litter) "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"CHIHUAHUA mix PUPPIES"  Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Male and Female, adoption fee $600

Adoption fee includes the spay/neuter when they are 6-9 months old.

 Dogs- yes Cats-yes, Kids-yes

Personality: Affectionate, Curious, Friendly, Funny, Playful

Look, if you can do low carb, we admire you. Here at Stumptown, though, we gotta have our pastries. Inspired by our inability to deny ourselves sweets, we named our newest tiniest Stumpies after our favorite baked goods. On March 12, the puppies will be fully baked and ready for a home!

The puppies were a pleasant surprise. We took in their mom, a 12 pound adorable chihuahua mix, from a very crowded shelter to help find her a home. On our exam, we noticed she was pregnant! So, instead of one 12 pound dog, we got 5 dogs. Our version of a "bakers dozen"! We expect all the puppies to be about the same size as their mom when fully grown.

All of the puppies are well socialized to people and other dogs. They are still developing their personalities but they are universally very friendly, funny and playful. They love what most puppies love: cuddling, wrestling, mischief and snacks. Cannoli, the darkest puppy, is a girl. So is Baklava, the tan puppy with the darkest nose. Shortbread and Churro are our identical twin boys and each of them claims to be the most handsome (and they are both right).

Puppies need vaccines every 3 weeks until they are 16 weeks old. Until those final vaccines, they don't have enough immunity for dog parks and the like. However, the litter will have received 2 rounds of vaccines by the time of adoption and can enroll in puppy kindergarten and socializing groups. This, along with continued training, is highly recommended.

The puppies are microchipped, dewormed, and current on flea and heartworm preventatives. Their adoption fee includes the spay/neuter when they are 6-9 months old..

Note: I'm a favorite of staff and volunteers

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • I have been working with the Behavior and Training team here at OHS for consistency and am looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. You'll need to meet with me multiple times before taking me home.
  • To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.
  • I am part of the special rescue effort to help shelters in California that were impacted by the L.A. wildfires.
  • I hope you're a fan of comedy, because my goofy personality is sure to make you smile!
  • Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.
  • Someone very familiar with canine body language is a must for me. Therefore, I may not be the best option for a first-time dog owner. Then again, if you are willing to put in the work, then let's roll the dice and see where this adventure takes us.
  • Making new friends is so much fun! I'm a very social and confident guy.
  • I love to be around people! I'd make a great buddy for curling up on the couch to watch a movie.
  • Stick a bandana on me and let's go check those hikes off your bucket list!

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I need to go to a home without small children.
  • I would flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.
  • I need a home without cats or other small animals.
  • I need to be the only dog in the home.
  • My energy and size can be a lot for little kids, but I would do great with older, dog-savvy children.

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • My hobbies include casual strolls through the park to sniff the flowers, cuddling on the couch for movies and enjoying plenty of snacks.
  • I would love someone who is looking to go on long walks, and allows me to do what I do best - sniff!
  • I love nothing more than making new friends, human and canine!
  • I have been enjoying cuddling with a cat in my foster home! After proper introductions of course!
  • I love to learn! You can use my favorite toys or treats as positive reinforcement and to teach me new things.
  • Click here to sign-up for our Start over Rover class! We will help you set you on the right path to have the best life possible with your new furry friend through training, games, and exercises!
  • Resource Guarding: I have a history of guarding my people, food, toys and/or bedding from other animals or people.
  • High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.
  • I have chronic skin issues which will require long term management. It can be caused by different factors such as fleas, food or environmental factors.
  • I have chronic ear infections which will require long term management.

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I may do best in a home without young children, as I sometimes try to take their treats!
  • I am not for the first time dog owner. Someone very familiar with canine body language is a must for me.
