Shelter ID: 105753 neutered male, 8 yrs, 85 lbs
Description: Grunt is an EXTREMELY quiet and calm
American Pitbull Terrier mix who weighs a hefty 85 lbs (ideal being
closer to 80 lbs likely) and is believed to be 8 years of age. Grunt
warm up very quickly with soft words and gentle pets. Shelter life is
pretty overwhelming for Grunt. He can't wait for you to see him outside
of his kennel so that you can see who he really is! He loves spending
time in offices where he curls up in beds and self-entertains on
available toys. Grunt would really love a new home that is going to
include him in the family. He may enjoy a more low-key, calm household
that won't expect him to run and hike, but have some lazy cuddle fests
and moments to gently chew on his soft rubber toys!
1) Grunt may do great for a first time dog owner! His new owner will
need to be dedicated to his continued weight loss goals with controlled
amounts of skin supportive food and frequent short walks or other low
impact physical activity.
2) We do not know how Grunt would act towards cats or small
animals. Please be sure to discuss proper introductions with your
adoption counselor if you have small animals living in the house to make
sure they can be good housemates!
3) Due to his size and initial reservations at new and loud
situations, Grunt would likely do best in a home with children that are
13 years of age or older.
4) Grunt has a fairly dry haircoat and was healing from some sores
in between his toes and pads of his feet when he came in to the shelter.
All of this is resolving nicely with medications. We anticipate that he
will need to be maintained on a commercial skin friendly food +/- a
skin supportive supplement. He does not seem itchy nor is is needing
actual allergy meds at this time.
