DUKE Described as being "more like a cat than a dog"

Dear Duke is giving us his best puppy dog eyes. Described as being "more like a cat than a dog"
11-year-old Duke is a sweet boy who is said to be a 45-pound Texas cattle dog. His current owner adopted him from a shelter in Texas in 2016.
Duke has peacefully lived with other dogs. He has not lived with cats but when he was younger he visited a family with a cat and curled up with that cat. We are told when he sees cats he can become a little excited but will calm down eventually. This leads us to believe Duke could probably live with dog savvy cats. Duke is great with gentle children. He sounds like an all around nice boy!
This easy-going fellow is calm and not demanding. He appreciates walks and does well while on leash, not pulling on his leash. It sounds like Duke would be an enjoyable dog to take for walks. At this time he does not show signs of arthritis, he can still take stairs. As one expects with age, Duke's vision isn't as sharp as it once was. He will need an adopter who can get him in for a senior exam to get the best picture of his overall health.
Duke can manage a few hours between potty breaks. He is accustomed to having another canine buddy around for company when the humans must leave the house. Duke hangs out in the living room on his dog bed during the day and at night he has slept in the bed with his person.
Because he has lived with the same family since he was a wee one, we would hope his adopter would show kindness and compassion, giving Duke time to settle in and adapt to a new home and new life.
Described as being "more like a cat than a dog", Duke is not barky.
As dogs believe they should, Duke lets you know when someone is at the door. Duke is a cuddly, sweet boy who will make a wonderful addition to a family.
Duke is located in Olympia, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org
This is not an Old Dog Haven dog. Old Dog Haven has not assessed this dog for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
