This
time of year, it's easy to over-indulge on treats. And why not? Life is
hard, have something sweet. By the way, nothing is sweeter than a 3
month old puppy. The last of our Dessert Litter, Rocky Road is ready to
find her forever home. She promises, like a big slice of pie, to make
things a bit better.
The puppies came to us after their mother
died. At 4 weeks old, they were too young to take care of themselves and
we were asked to help. Their mom was a cattle dog mix, but we don't
know who the dad was. Maybe a husky or shepherd? Based on her current
weight, we expect Rocky Road to be 60-70 pounds fully grown.
Rocky
Road is well socialized to kids, adults, and other dogs. She is very
friendly, funny and playful. Rocky Road was the smallest of the litter.
Tiny but mighty, she's brave, curious, and ready to take on the world.
She loves a long walk and would thrive with a human adventure partner.
Rocky
Road was born with eyes that are slightly too small. The
ophthalmologist thinks Rocky Road's eyes will continue to grow as she
does so this will be just something to monitor. They are already so much
better; we can hardly tell at all!
Puppies need vaccines every 3
weeks until they are 16 weeks old. Until those final vaccines, they
don't have enough immunity for dog parks and the like. However, Rocky
Road has 3 rounds of vaccines and can enroll in puppy kindergarten and
socializing groups. This, along with continued training, is highly
recommended. Puppies are a lot of work, but like a complicated cake that
turns out just right, very much worth the effort.
Rocky Road is
microchipped, dewormed, and current on flea and heartworm preventatives.
Her adoption fee includes her spay when she is 6-9 months old.
At
the end of a long year, if someone asks you if you have room for
dessert, say yes. Next year, start things off right with a new best
friend!
