"GALILEO" FAV!! *LONG Term Shelter dog* Big sensitive MIX knows sit, down, shake "MCAS"

At heart, Galileo is a sensitive and loving dog. He has been at the shelter for a long time. He was originally a stray back in May 2024, adopted in June, then surrendered in December 2024 because he kept wandering from the home, (duh, get a fence). He  was given no exercise, and was too active for that home.

But now, he is used to the overly loud kennels and chaos of the shelter again.  Sadly, the kennels is what he now knows -  it is a structured routine, of getting fed, seeing people walk by and staring at him, getting out of his kennel maybe 20 minutes  of the 24 hr day, and spending alot of time repeatedly getting stressed and reacting to dogs being walked past his kennel.

IF he gets out into a new home... going to a new place will be a big change for Galileo and he will really need to be given time to settle, establish trust bond with you before introducing alot of new stimuli.

Galileo 🐶 is a young American Shelter dog and a longer-term resident eagerly awaiting his forever family. While initially timid and sometimes hesitant in new situations, Galileo has blossomed into a silly, playful pup 🤪 who loves to engage with people. He knows "sit," "shake," and "down," and is highly treat-motivated, making training a breeze. He walks well on leash, though he can be a bit of a puller, especially when excited! He is easily redirected with treats and verbal cues. Galileo enjoys exploring and sniffing on walks 🐾 and has shown improvement in his confidence and comfort levels. It is important to note that Galileo does have some prey drive and can have escaping tendencies, so a securely fenced yard/ home would be ideal for this big boy 🏡. He also has some handling sensitivities and will do best with an adopter(s) who understands and respects his boundaries when he communicates them. Galileo is affectionate and energetic boy and is sure to bring lots of love and laughter to his forever home ❤️
