Libra, our 8 week old 1 and 1/2 pound chihuahua mix, may weigh 7 pounds someday. Her mom is a whopping 4 pounds so realistically Libra will go from the size of a Portland rat to the size of a New York rat. If you’ve ever known a tiny dog, you know they have just as much personality (if not more) than big dogs. And they certainly have much better outfits.

Libra’s mom was found stray and we were asked to take her in. Libra was the only puppy and her foster family has done their best to help Libra combat only-child syndrome. That said, Libra’s adopter needs to be prepared to socialize her. Sure, Libra’s brain is the size of a hazelnut, but that hazelnut is going to be a nightmare if someone doesn’t take the time to train it.

Libra has no skills at all. A total blank slate, Libra’s figured out that people are nice and that she likes playing and eating. She’s been good with cats, is social with other dogs and has been around kids. Otherwise, the whole world is confounding for Libra. She’s very curious and tries her best to be brave and wants to learn more.

All puppies need vaccines every 3 weeks until they are 16 weeks old. We’ve done the first two rounds of vaccines for Libra. She’s microchipped, dewormed and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives. Libra’s adoption fee of $600 includes her spay surgery when she is 6 months old or at least 2 pounds.

We tease Libra a lot about her size. But she deserves a great home just as much as a reasonably *ahem* bigger sized dog. Is that yours? Apply to adopt on our website. https://www.stumptownstrays.org/adoption-application 💙🐾
