UPDATE 8/13/25 OLD DOG HAVEN FB
"Ending our day with FANTASTIC NEWS!!
An Old Dog Haven Forever Foster Home has been FOUND for Shelton!
He will leave the shelter soon and make his way to his forever foster home.
We are hoping he will be a surgical candidate to remove the mass on his neck. However, if he is not, he will be kept as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. The most important thing is that he will have a HOME with love and care.
Thank you all for sharing our plea for Shelton."
SHELDON: PERMANENT PERMANENT FOSTER HOME NEEDED: for "OLD DOG HAVEN"(note: all medical expenses paid by rescue)
(fosters needed -located in W. Washington state or Portland, OR only)
"We
have more senior dogs needing homes! As an Old Dog Haven foster, all
vet bills are paid and the dog stays with you for life. If you are
unable to foster for us, will you please share our plea? Our list is growing again.
(located in W. Washington state or Portland, OR only)
"Shelton" is a 14 year old neutered male, maybe basset
mix? He is longer than he is tall, weighing 35 pounds. This sweet guy came
in "stray" to a shelter with a microchip but when the owner was contacted he said he didn't have a dog.
He has a huge tumor on the side of his neck that is starting to
ulcerate - it's not clear yet if it could safely be removed OR if he is
healthy enough to do so. He seems to have some arthritis in an elbow
and tires when walking very far. Despite all this, he seems comfortable
and happy in the shelter and is eating well. He was great meeting
small dogs, soft and not pushy. We and the shelter would love to find
him a spot to be loved and cared for, perhaps with surgery to remove the
tumor but perhaps just to have some happy time and be spoiled.
Please contact us immediately if you would like to offer Sheldon the forever home he needs. Old Dog Haven will cover all of his vet bills (thanks to donations).
