"LUCY" lovely, lively young LAB/pitmix *Would like dog companion* "OHS- Portland"

"LUCY" AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at Oregon Humane Society  in Portland

LUCY Available 7/21/2025  #331503  $400

spayed female, 1 yr 47 lbs "Looks  like" Lab/pitbull

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • Zippy and lively, that's me! I'm going to need a person who is similar-someone with energy who is ready for fun and games. Did you know that there are lots of things that dogs and humans can do together beyond the common game of fetch? How about some agility, Nose Work, hiking or running, swimming, dock diving, or Frisbee?
  • I love nothing more than making new friends, human and canine!
  • I am still a bit of a puppy so I love to get goofy and bounce around, I still have a lot of growing up to do!
  • Mental enrichment activities are a great way to entertain me and work my brain.
  • High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.
  • Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I need a home without cats or other small animals.
  • I may do best in a home where there is a resident dog for me to play with!

TRAMP" outgoing Chihuahua/terrier "OHS- PORTLAND"

"TRAMP" AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at Oregon Humane Society  in Portland

TRAMP Available 7/21/2025  #331503  $75

neutered male, 8 yrs 22 lbs "Looks  like" Chihuahua/terrier

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • Making new friends is so much fun! I'm a very social and confident guy.
  • I do my best to make it super-duper hard for you to leave every cuddle session.
  • Nervous: I can be sensitive to vet-style handling, especially during nail trims. I may exhibit my discomfort in a variety of ways and will need to go to a dog savvy home.
  • I have been diagnosed with dental disease which means I may need dental cleanings or extractions in the future.
  • Helping me lose weight will allow me to live my best life!
  • I have medial patellar luxation (MPL) in 1 or more knees. This may need long term management or surgery.

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I have lived with other dogs in my last home. I may prefer dogs who want to hang out on the couch with me, rather than play and wrestle.

"GONZO" Labradoodle *needs routine Professional grooming* "OHS-Portland"

GONZO will need routine Professional Grooming (probably every 6 or 8 weeks?) He came into a shelter so grossly matted that you couldnt even see his face, and his feet had so much hair that he was slipped on the floor.   Don't get a non-shedder if you aren't able/willing to take care of it's grooming needs

"GONZO" AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at Oregon Humane Society  in Portland

GONZO Available 7/21/2025  #331679  $400

neutered male, 3 yrs 6 mths 49 lbs  "Looks  like" Labradoodle

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • I really enjoy the company of my human friends.
  • My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet.

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I would flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.

"CLOVER" dainty lady, mystery mix "MCAS"

MCAS needs to spay/neuter all dogs before adoption (and ensure that the dogs are given adequate care and recovery time!

Adopting intact dogs to new homes is grossly irresponsible in our current homeless dog crisis. EVEN POOR counties with a much smaller budget for animal control are ensuring that  the dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Management is failing the animals and the community.

possible Solution? - lease/create an offsite space and hire part-time well- qualified Veterinarians and qualified volunteers to help out.  Provide safe spay/neuter and provide a safe recovery space so all adoptable animals are spay/neutered before they go to new homes.

Looking for a reason to smile? Meet Clover! This adorable, slightly dainty lady is a total sweetheart. When she was found, she was a little underweight, but she's been enjoying her meals and is well on her way to being a happy, healthy pup. Clover has a wonderful, gentle personality and is ready to leave her stray days behind her. She's a bit of a wallflower at first, but once you earn her trust, she'll be your shadow and your most loyal companion. Once she is comfortable, her energy level can be too overwhelming for younger, smaller kids. She will need to go to a home with children that are 8 years and older. She would do best in a home with older children. Bring some luck into your life and adopt Clover today! πŸ€πŸ˜Š

"Pina is the sweetest dog ever. She is really perfect in almost every way. Good with dogs, good with cats, good with chickens, good with small animals. She has shown interest in chasing wildlife, so I do supervise her with the chickens and cats, but I've not seen any aggression when supervised. I think she would do well in almost any home as long as you can play fetch with her a couple times a day, take her for a brief walk, and allow her to lay with you on the couch. She wants to do everything with her people and will be your little shadow. She is amazing with verbal commands and comes when called. She's very smart and is trained, but will be easy to train even further as she wants so badly to please people and be good. She's pretty small, at around 40 lbs, and a perfect walker on a leash. I'm sure she'd love to jog and go hiking as well. She doesn't really like to be kenneled, but will tolerate it when I'm at work. She does better in the kennel if her dog friend is being kenneled next to her (she would love a dog friend in her forever home). The kennel is the only place I've heard her bark. The family who adopts Pina will be the luckiest to have her."

"JASPER" ** URGENT!! *scared in kennels* handsome, loving POINTER/hound mix * "MCAS"

UPDATE July 21, 2025

JASPER - A nice local Portland shelter boy who is struggling! Outside on a walk, he is a fun, loving boy and sweet boy who leans in for pets and loves to roll around in the grass. He deserves a great home.

Jasper is deteriorating, and is spending most of his time in the outside part of his kennel, sometimes trembling, scared and trying to escape the loud shelter barking. Because he is in the outside section, visitors don't see him when they walk through the kennels. Jasper is also an active Pointer mix, and many potential adopters are NOT (active people) so he would not be a good match for them.

Jasper was originally adopted from a well known local shelter who won't take him back due to cat prey drive and barrier reactivity to other shelter dogs walking past him. He has done well in playgroups and was deemed dog social, but as Jasper becomes more stressed the longer duration that  he is kenneled, he tends to become more impatient in playgroups unless the dog is also highly active.

Volunteers do their best to get the dogs out daily and he enjoys that time immensely, but that only counts for less than 30 minutes in the entire day.

Jasper needs structure, and a stable loving home who can handle a larger dog with gentle /firm leadership, walk on some sort of non-pull harness, provide daily mental and physical exercise and adores him. And someone who doesn't give up on him.

Meet Jasper, a handsome, middle-aged Pointer/Hound mix with a heart full of adventure! This intelligent and spirited boy is looking for an active home where his strong instincts can be appreciated. Jasper absolutely loves to explore the world with his keen nose, but he's still learning the ropes of polite leash walking and can be quite a puller. He's a smart cookie who's eager to please, and with consistent training, he'll become a wonderful walking partner. It's important to note that Jasper has a strong prey drive and must go to a home without cats or other small animals. If you're an experienced dog owner ready to embrace a loyal companion with a zest for life, Jasper might just be your perfect match! πŸ’•

"ZZ TOP" *URGENT!! *losing weight LOVING HOUND *easy to walk* *loves the water* "MCAS"

"Hounds bring a special joy to their homes. I hope this sweet boy is soon curled up on a soft bed with an adoring family."  MCAS FB comment

============ ZZ Top has an old man hound bay in the kennels but is quiet on a walk. He loves the water.  Really sweet dog.

ZZ wants you to know...I'VE  Been waiting too long, and it's not fair.  I was in an off-site program to help vet students, and was a good boy with everything they asked of me, but now I'm back at the shelter still looking for a good home. I had a brief stay in a foster home and they found me to be a really nice guy and rode well in the car, met men, women and a small dog. I love puzzles and running in a field. I'm an all around well-mannered guy/

I'm tired of living in kennels. I'm loosing weight, and am hoping to  find a nice soft spot to land- no apartments please - that elusive forever home. Can you help me find one?

ZZ Top, a distinguished older hound with a voice that carries, is looking for a loving retirement home. This seasoned gentleman arrived as a stray, but his charming personality quickly shone through. While ZZ Top enjoys expressing himself with robust vocalizations, he's also a sweet and gentle soul. He's seeking a patient owner who appreciates the unique character of a hound, including their distinctive baying, and can provide a comfortable, understanding environment. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a memorable soundtrack, ZZ Top might be the perfect addition to your life.

Rhapsody is a young Boxer mix who loves people and playful dogs. Rhapsody is smart and learns quickly. A home with a youngish and playful dog, or access to a dog playmate, would be wonderful for her. She is very treat-focused and loves to please people, which makes her an A+ student. She already knows sit, down, paw and other paw. Rhapsody was able to be fostered for a few weeks and the foster family reports that she was well behaved in the home. She is crate trained and calms herself well when put in the crate in a quiet area. Rhapsody is house trained and sleeps quietly through the night. She may be able to live with cats, but it would need to be a slow, careful integration with dog savvy cats. She was not aggressive with the two resident cats in her foster home, just exuberantly curious. With rewards-based training, she could do well in agility, or as a running and/or hiking partner. Rhapsody is looking for someone who will give her lots of love, exercise and a stable home. In exchange you will get an amazingly smart, loyal and loving companion.

"MALIK" (MA-LEEK)* Turns to MUSH when Petted* Shepherd Mix "PROJECT POOCH "

"Project POOCH, quite simply, changes lives. We operate a kennel inside a youth correctional facility and pair currently incarcerated youth with shelter dogs. The youth learn kennel management, positive reinforcement, grooming, and training techniques. The youth learn what it means to be depended on by another living creature and what it means to be trusted and relied upon. And, they learn what unconditional love feels like—sometimes for the first time. Our dogs get trained, loved, and adopted into their forever homes. There is no limit to the amount of time a dog spends in our care, and we are focused on the individual needs of each dog."

"MALIK" AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at "PROJECT POOCH"

MALIK neutered male German Shep, Cattle Dog, Malinois mix, 3 yrs 60 lbs

Malik is ready to be someone’s new best friend. This guy is a sidekick, through and through. If you’re looking for someone to join your family and be an integral part, Malik is happy to step up to the plate.

Malik is a gentle player with people and toys. His favorite things are his stuffies, which he carries around with him and curls up with to nap. He’s even been known to take one on a walk or two with him! When playing with people, he is a big goober, with large, exaggerated movements that make playtime so silly and fun.

That’s not to say Malik doesn’t have dog friends, too. Since coming to POOCH we have really seen his social skills blossom. He's befriended big dogs and small dogs, and has learned to play well with others and read body cues from his dog friends.

From one of our youth trainers, “Malik is my favorite dog at POOCH right now. I love that he’s a big baby, very sweet and affectionate. He loves his toys and will carry one around to greet you. He’s very humorous because if you scratch his butt, he will get the zoomies and run around before coming back to you to do it again. He is fun and great to work with and train. It’s a good day when I get to see Malik.”
