Here's what you need to know about me:

I may jump and play rough. I don't mean to, I just get really excited when I play!

I'm an active dog! I would love to go home with a family who can help me burn off energy with exercise, playtime, and outdoor adventures.

I need to be the only pet. I'm not comfortable sharing my space or my stuff with other animals. I prefer to be the center of attention!

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • I really enjoy the company of my human friends.
  • Treats are a great way to make fast friends with me!
  • I can't wait to show my new family how playful I am!
  • Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new surroundings. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.
  • High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my physical and mental exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.

"KONA" **still NEEDED!!** *CHOC LAB/GSP*Permanent FOSTER home !!* "OLD DOG HAVEN RESCUE" WEST WA, Portland, OR

OLD DOG HAVEN

ODH Facebook

PERMANENT Old Dog Haven FOSTER HOME NEEDED:
(foster homes must be located in W. Washington state or Portland, OR only)

"Kona" is a 58 pound Chocolate Lab mix- perhaps a German shorthaired
pointer?? Because she was a "stray", her true age is unknown, but she is most definitely a senior dog who has just been spayed.

What a pretty girl and what a sweetheart - you can see that her eyes are usually focused on a human. She is energetic, strong, just figuring out how to deal with
other big dogs she sees out on walks, wonderful in the house. It took
her a while to relax in her temporary foster home. No doubt she didn't understand what had happened and whether these people would also abandon her - but as that worry receded, she settled in.

Kona arrived with skin issues (from fleas?) which have mostly resolved now.
She is recovered from her spay surgery and ready to become part of a
home that will keep working on her leash skills so that she can keep
enjoying regular exercise as she increases her confidence.

It is unknown how she will do with other dogs in the house because her shelter foster has no other dogs. However, we have no reason to think it would be a problem. Whether or not she can live with cats is also unknown.

Kona is definitely a lover, a devoted companion who will respond to the effort you make for her. If you are interested, please let us know.

Old Dog Haven would like to bring Kona into our care. To do so, we need to find a home to send her to. Old Dog Haven pays ALL medical bills for life. You will not be adopting Kona, you will be offering her a home to stay in for the rest of her life under our rescue. If you are interested, you can apply to forever foster Kona.
Here is where you can learn more about joining our network of forever fosters.

"MARGO" lovely *semi-senior* PITBULL "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance (and often helps take dogs when shelter is overcrowded)

" Margo has been such a joy to foster! She is the most loving pup I have ever met. She will literally stare into your eyes and attempt sneaky kisses for as long as you will allow."

~ Margo's foster home

"MARGO" Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Adoption $150  Breed: Pit Bull Terrier

spayed female 9 yrs 50 lbs  Housetrained: yes

ok with Dogs - unknown  Cats -yes  Kids - yes

Personality: Affectionate, Curious, Friendly, Gentle, Loves Kisses

adoption application

Margo, our 9 year old 50 pound pitty, is a huge fan of music. Her foster family says she'll sit in the room with them for hours listening to them play. Sometimes Margo will join along with a squeaky toy, but generally she's just happy to watch. Although we've not tested our theory, Margo loves people so much that we suspect she'd be just as happy to watch someone put together a jigsaw puzzle.

Surrendered to the shelter when her family lost their housing, Margo needed help with her skin. Margo, like a lot of pitties, is delicate. She has to eat hypoallergenic food otherwise she breaks out. We started Margo on Apoquel, an allergy medication, which has really helped keep her itch-free. Margo also has arthritis in her knees. Despite this, Margo loves long walks and short jogs. Keeping her on Carprofen, an anti-inflammatory, has helped her stay active. Margo should continue the food, Apoquel and Carprofen long term.

Margo is very friendly with all people, even kids. She loves long eye contact and sneaky face kisses. When not snuggling, Margo will periodically entertain herself with stuffy dissections. She is crate trained, leash trained and potty trained.

Margo has met and gotten along great with several dogs. She seems to prefer other laid back dogs. It's fair to say that Margo may be dog selective. She's gotten in a few minor arguments with dogs at parks - we suspect they were too bold for Margo and her arthritic knees, but hard to know for sure. Margo is not a good candidate for dog parks for this reason and we recommend slow introductions with new dog friends. Margo seems indifferent to cats that she's met.

Margo is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives. She's had normal blood work and we just cleaned her teeth.

Want someone to gaze lovingly at you while you play guitar (or watch TV or stare off into space..)? Margo would love to be your biggest fan.

"FRIDA" young CHIWEENIE MIX *Tri-pod* "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance (and often helps take dogs when shelter is overcrowded)

"FRIDA"  Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Adoption $400  Breed: Chiweenie mix

spayed female 2 yrs 13 lbs  Housetrained: Yes

Ok with Dogs Yes...Cats unknown...Kids  Yes

Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Funny, Loves Kisses, Playful

adoption application

Frida, our 2 year old 13 pound Chiweenie, is an expert nuzzler and is happiest when being held. When she's in someone's arms, Frida fits her head tightly under their chin. She likes to hold hands and she's very generous with her kisses. Frida's love language is definitely physical touch. Our love language, on the other hand, is finding dogs their own families (don't tell us that's not a love language).

When she was out on the streets, Frida zigged when she should have zagged and she was hit by a car. Due to the extent of her injuries, we stepped in to help. Frida's pelvis was fractured and her rear leg was badly damaged. Although her leg could not be saved, Frida is thriving as a tripod. Now that she's healed, she can motor around just like before.

Frida is really friendly, although a bit reserved with new people. Once she sees the snacks come out, all reservations are gone. At home, Frida is x-pen trained and potty trained. She is great with other dogs, loves tossing toys around, and is up for adventures. However, Frida needs a bit more leash training. She pulls a little and sometimes barks at other animals. Good thing she's so snack motivated! We have not seen Frida with cats, but we suspect she could live with a dog savvy one.

Frida is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.

We just looked up the love languages, and "adopting three-legged dogs" is not one of them. Who came up with these? Prove them wrong and apply to adopt.

"MAUI" *Tiny* senior TERRIER MIX " STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance (and often helps take dogs when shelter is overcrowded)

"MAUI" Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Adoption $350  Breed: French Bulldog

MAUI spayed female   12 yr 8 lb

 Housetrained: Yes

Ok with Dogs Yes...Cats Yes...Kids  Yes

Personality: Affectionate, Dignified, Friendly

adoption application

Maui, our 8 pound 12 year old terrier mix, is about as brave as they come. She's happily walked up to dogs 5 times her size and is sure every person she sees is a future friend. We've had a great time getting to know this courageous little lady; and now we're excited to find her a retirement home.

Maui ended up at the shelter when her person died. There, she quickly charmed everyone with her sweet disposition. We took Maui in to take care of her teeth; Maui's mouth was a mess. She's recovered from her dental now and is much more comfortable.

Like a lot of small dogs, Maui has a heart murmur. We evaluated her heart with a blood test which came back normal. This means, at this point, Maui does not have significant heart disease and does not require treatment. Like many older dogs, Maui also has a little arthritis. She does well on a daily anti-inflammatory and we recommend this be continued.

At home, Maui is great with other dogs and with cats. She is not destructive and is potty trained (with a few initial accidents). Maui loves walks and is perfect on her leash - she never pulls or barks. She is happiest curled up on the couch with her person, or, preferably, on their lap. Maui struggles with being left alone. We started her on fluoxetine (Prozac) to help her overcome this anxiety and it's already helping. Maui would prefer to live with someone who is home a lot or can take her to work with them.

Maui is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives. She's had normal senior blood work.

Do you have room on your lap for Maui?

"DANNY TORRENCE" FRENCH BULLDOG "STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance (and often helps take dogs when shelter is overcrowded)

"DANNY TORRENCE"Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Adoption $350  Breed: French Bulldog

"DANNY TORRENCE plus videos neutered male

6 yrs 25 lb  Housetrained: Yes

Ok with Dogs Yes...Cats Yes...Kids  Yes

Personality: Affectionate, Brave, Curious, Friendly, Funny, Gentle, Loves Kisses, Playful

adoption application

Danny Torrance, our 6 year old 25 pound French Bulldog, does not have any psychic or telepathic abilities (that we know of). We have never heard him talking to anyone named "Tony". But when we asked Danny what kind of home he's looking for, he did say that he'll live anywhere except the Overlook Hotel.

Found stray, Danny's skin and ears were in rough shape. We suspect Danny has allergies; a common finding with Frenchies. Now that Danny is on a hypoallergenic diet, he's looking and feeling great. We also have Danny on a medication for environmental allergies called Numelvi. This should run about $45 a month.

Danny is outrageously gregarious. He loves all living creatures and is persistent in his attempts at friendship. Danny is up for anything. He loves walks, is great on a bar patio, and is happy to ride in a car. At home, Danny is crate trained and puts himself to bed every night. He is potty trained and not destructive. Danny loves collecting toys and is good at self-entertainment. He'll often bring toys for approval to his people before he goes back to tossing them around. Danny wakes up happy and is an instant mood booster.

Danny doesn't love being alone (who can blame him. Between the twins and the lady in the bathtub...). He'll need to work on some independence, but for now, he'd likely do best with someone who is home often or can take Danny to work. Because Danny will scream like a goat when he's lonely, we don't recommend thin walls in his future home.

Danny is heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives. We'll send his adopter with food and medication to get started.

Have you been suffering from all work and no play? Before you go losing your mind, may we suggest adopting the world's nicest Frenchie?

"JACKSON" *rolly-polly* *LOW-KEY* WEIMARANER "OREGON WEIMARANER RESCUE"

"JACKSON"   is Available for adoption at OREGON WEIMARANER RESCUE

MEET: GRACIE plus videos

Oregon weimaraner FB

current  Location: Black Diamond, WA   adoption fee $100

Weimaraner, neutered male 10 yrs 130 lbs (needs *alot* of gentle weight loss)

 BELIEVED COMPATIBILITY WITH:

CHILDREN:  6 + due to size

CATS:  unknown

DOGS:  Yes

Meet Jackson!

Jackson is a big, goofy, lovable Weimaraner with an even bigger heart!
At 10 years old, this handsome boy enjoys the simple things in life: lounging on the couch, cozy dog beds, getting pets, and spending time with his people. He has a laid-back personality, loves attention, and has a special love for watermelon!

Jackson is housebroken, knows basic commands, and has low exercise requirements, though he needs to lose a lot of weight so getting him out on regular walks and throwing balls for him in his own fenced yard is going to be important in his new home!

Through no fault of his own, Jackson is looking for a new home; his current owner is dealing with medical challenges and injuries that have made it increasingly difficult to provide the care he needs. This is a very difficult decision made out of love, with Jackson’s best interests at heart.

When Jackson was about three years of age, he joined his current family and the kids were just four years old. Since then, he’s been around friends' toddlers and does well with all ages. He could however, easily topple a little one without even realizing it.

Jackson is also really good with dogs. He’s a little uncomfortable around small dogs having lived with a Chihuahua in his first home who bossed him around. But when he’s at the dog park Jackson is happy to socialize with the big dogs. We would love for him to have a dog friend!  But cats are an unknown; Jackson enjoys chasing squirrels so probably not a good match.

Jackson loves chasing balls but does not bring them back :), he also likes clearing the counter of food that is left out - haha!  Otherwise he does not have any bad habits and is able to roam the house alone without getting into mischief (he is not crate trained). He enjoys car rides and would be all about keeping you company while you run errands.

Jackson is neutered and microchipped. We are working on getting him  into the vet for vaccine updates and a baseline blood panel prior to adoption, but if the right home comes along sooner, we will help with the initial vet bills to get this taken care of.  The poor guy is alone Monday - Thursday so we are excited about moving him to a forever home where he will have little alone time,  a fenced back yard and outings. He still has a lot of get up and go and would love to join you!

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, easy companion with a goofy side, Jackson might be your guy!  Please fill out an adoption application.
