UPDATE 5/20/24 ADOPTED
TEELA would do really well with a compatible confident home dog!!She is a devoted doggie playgroup member!
and ....She's kind of snob :)
There are people that she just does not trust and will make that quite evident by backing up and not wanting to be with them...(even tho we know that these people are "trustworthy"! She probably had a somewhat disadvantaged youth as far as socializing with strangers and other things...but some of this might just be TEELA! She was dirty and looking neglected -like a back yard pup- when she first came into the shelter) and is a dog that has actually benefitted from being in the shelter system. She gets daily socialization with a number of new people -volunteers and staff that she trusts...she gets lots of playtime with doggie friends in playgroups, AND she is living in a secure and structured environment with few surprises so she can relax.
No doubt, she would be best in a secure and calm home where she is allowed to go at her own pace, but where she gets regular playtime with sociable doggie companions. She's a pretty special girl.

Introducing Teela, a lovely young dog who's looking for a patient and understanding family to call her own. Teela is a bit wary in new situations and may take some time to feel comfortable around new people. She has some handling sensitivities and requires a family who will respect her boundaries and provide gentle care. Teela will benefit greatly from socialization, positive reinforcement, and reward-based training to help build her confidence and trust. Teela will do best with another social dog in the home. If you're seeking a devoted canine companion who's ready to blossom with your support, Teela is eagerly waiting to become part of your family.
