Meet Mara- She's jewel of a dog in her golden years (10+ years old) and a healthy 62 lbs. The last few years have been rough after her former owners divorced and she was bounced around. Now she's looking for a laid-back "retirement" home.
Mara is house-broken, crate-trained and very mellow. She has lived with children, cats, and is currently getting along great with 2 dogs in her foster home. She loves napping, snuggling and her daily walk. Mara is hard of hearing, but responds to hand-clapping, whistling and using hand signs and facial gestures. Hi my shelter name is Garfield, Gar for short. As you can tell by just looking at me I am what you call a live wire? Translation... full of energy and super smart. We are going to have so much fun going together to classes! I will make you so proud!

I am looking for a home that wants a canine buddy! I will need daily exercise and training and someone who will be patient as I learn the rules of your home. I am willing and will be extra interested if there is a treat involved! 

 

 

 

The shelter suggests that we take some training together to start off on the right paw together. I have made some dog friends here and I love to play but may be too much for smaller dogs or the dog park. It was noted during my evaluation here that someone may have used objects, like a rolled up newspaper for example, to 'train' me. This has resulted in me being fearful of things held in people's hands.

Its not much fun to for me or the person holding the leash when I start barking. BUT, I love food and training is something that will improve my response to things and our relationship!
