"MARCELINE" "HAPPY ADOPTION UPDATE " *Hospice Home Needed(or not?)* darling young Pitmix "STUMPTOWN"

UPDATE 6/6/25 ADOPTED!

"Marceline, our 2 year old pittie, came to us after being found stray with a large growth on her jaw. Luckily, @1510Foundation covered her care in its entirety and we were able to get her the surgery she needed. Unluckily, the growth turned out to be a rare type of cancerous bone tumor that was likely to regrow and potentially metastasize to her lungs. She essentially needed a hospice home with people who understood that her life may be shorter than it should be. But Marceline is a happy, playful pup that didn’t know any of that - she just knew she wanted a home of her own!
Elizabeth was looking for a dog who could be a true companion and go everywhere with her. Marceline and Elizabeth met up, went on some walks, and we’re happy to share that a forever family was made! She gets to explore her neighborhood, go on hikes and adventures, and most importantly, get all the love and cuddles she could hope for. Who knows what the future will hold for Marceline (or any of us, really!) but her present is full of joy and we couldn’t be happier for her." Stumptown Strays FB

Marceline, our 2 year old 52 pound pitty, is far too young to be seeking a hospice home. And we hate that we are asking for one. But, sadly, that's what Marceline needs. We are seeking a really special family who wants to give Marceline the best life; even if that life may be shorter than it should be.

Marceline was found stray locally with a large growth on her mandible.
Being so young, we were very hopeful that the growth was benign. We took her in, and thanks to the @1510Foundation for covering Marceline's care in its entirety, we were able to get surgery @MedVet Vancouver. There, they removed the tumor along with the front part of her jaw. She's healed beautifully and you can hardly tell that she's now got an overbite.

Sadly, the pathologist classified the tumor as a rare type of cancerous bone tumor. It is likely this tumor will regrow and it could metastasize to her lungs. We don't know when (or honestly even IF) this will happen. It could be in a few months, it could take years. Right now, she has no signs of cancer and is as happy as any dog we've met.

Marceline is a medium energy, super playful dog. She is happy with a sniff walk (and is good on leash) and fetch in the yard. She loves other dogs, especially if they match her vibe. She can get a little persistent about playing, however, so an easily annoyed dog won't be a good match. Marceline can't tell the difference between cats, little dogs and squirrels - she wants to put all of them in her mouth. So no cats or little dogs in her home.

Marceline is friendly with people and loves to cuddle. She has been good with kids that she's met and could live with kids over 10. Marceline is potty-trained, not destructive, and hasn't needed a crate. She would love to be an adventure buddy.

Our Marceline is here for a good time (not a long time). We are still so honored to help Marceline live a pain free life and to give her a chance to be happy. If you have been hoping to give a dog her best years, apply to adopt.
