Hello, my name is Chico! I am a handsome boy, athletic, already have some tricks under my belt and ready to be adopted! My adopter should be active, ready to use positive training methods to help build my confidence, have no small animals, no children under 6 and if there is another dog that it be a social adult female. No dog parks for me! I am a little insecure sometimes but once I feel safe I will turn on the charm. Please come down and meet me. I am around a year old and weigh 62 pounds

Hello, Grant is my name. I am an energetic boy ready to get settled in my new forever home. Looking for a pint sized package of fun, here I am. My adopters should know that I can be wary with strangers, but I can warm up with time. I do love my people very much, and can be a bit protective, so my new family should be ready to help me manage that and spread my love with everyone! I am a white and tan neutered male Chihuahua mix, approximately 5 years old and weigh about 11 lbs.

"INDIGO RESCUE" UPDATE 9/3 - puppies all have holds

UPDATE Sept 3, 2015  thanks for adopting!!!  Looks like all the puppies now have holds/pendings.

2 of the 3 MOMS, Ryan (short and sweet) and Loki ( bigger and even sweeter) are still available for adoption!
If you are interested in being considered a home for adoption for one of the moms, or any of the other available Indigo Rescue dogs for adoption please fill out the application on the dog's  petfinder link. "We have a few of our dogs available for meets at the Tanasbourne Petco on Thursdays from 4-7pm and at PetSmart on 185th every other Sunday from noon until 3pm"  Indigo doesn't not do first come/first serve adoptions and want to find the best match for each dog.

I'm Ryan! (mom 1)

I'm Loki! (mom 2)

Indigo Rescue  (update 9/3- all these pups have holds/pending, but there are other young small and large dogs available!) lots of medium and large breed puppies for adoption right now, and is looking for homes who have time to devote to a large breed active dog. It's very unusual for Indigo Rescue to have so many puppies. They focus on helping local shelter dogs (regardless of size, age or breed) who don't do well in the shelters and would do better in a foster home style rescue group.

Two of three "moms" of these litters came into the local county shelter pregnant...and the other pregnant mom was sadly being rehomed for free on craigslist because she was pregnant....so glad that Loki ended up in a good Rescue group where she and her pups would all get great care and find good homes!
Blue (hold/pending)

Krepps (hold/pending)

Bono (hold/pending)

Beyonce (hold/pending)

Lucky Charm (hold/pending)

Apple Jack (hold/pending)

Special K (hold/pending)

a quick Google search.....  Lovebirds in captivity like Pickle can live 10 - 15 years with a proper diet, and a sociable environment -  toys and attention

here's my Mcas weblink

Pickle is a darling Peach Faced lovebird looking for a new family. Lovebirds are known to do best in pairs or groups, But if his new people are willing to give Pickle lots of toys and plenty of human attention, being an only bird might not be so bad. Pickle's adoption fee is $5 and does not include a cage.

"PEBBLES" sweetheart pretty pitbull

ADOPTED!
Aug 30, 2015

I've had lots of interest, but not yet any good adopter (no fault of my own)  I've been here quite a while, and am feeling the stress for sure...When you meet me outside the kennel, you will see that I am truly amazing!!!!   I hope you will ask to meet me in a quieter place.  I'm seriously cute and a nice medium size.

Available for adoption with Multnomah County Animal Services

here's my Mcas weblink

Hey everybody! My name is Pebbles and I'm looking for a loving family. It is stressful here in the kennels and I hope to find my family soon. I am an active girl that loves people. Sometimes I get so excited that I actually hit myself in the face with my own tail. Pretty silly, huh? My tail can easily knock down the little guys, so please no kids under 8 years old in the home. The shelter is recommending that we attend reward based classes together, so I can become an outstanding canine citizen. I am so excited and eager to learn. I may look like a whirlwind in my kennel, but as soon as you get me out, I settle and focus on my people. Please come down and meet me today. I am about 4 years old and weigh 51 pounds.

"RICKY and LUCY" 2 pretty parakeets

Now Available at Oregon Humane Society!

Ricky and Lucy were recently transferred from the MCAS shelter

Lucy and Ricky are truly two birds of a feather; they get along like peas and carrots. Where you find one the other is surely close by. Are you getting the idea that these two beauties are best friends? They certainly are and they are looking for a new nest to feather together. Both Lucy and Ricky are nervous around unfamiliar people. They are curious of their surroundings and love to talk to each other. Their adoption fee($40) includes both feathered friends for the price of one!

"CALEB" Heeler mix - UPDATE - check out my play dog moves

ADOPTED!
Aug 29, 2015

UPDATE! I'm doing great in a short term foster home - I can't stay here for too long, and I'll be back at the shelter next week probably unless I'm adopted sooner. I am a good example of the need for good MCAS Foster Homes....but I was also doing ok when out of the kennel area with dog shelter volunteers - very sweet and loving always.

I’m enjoying this new chapter in my life. You see, I came to the shelter with entropian (eyelashes growing into my eyes). The shelter performed surgery and got me all fixed up. I feel so much better and can actually see clearly now! In the shelter environment I was pretty scared but now that I’m in a foster home I’m blossoming. I love my doggie siblings and do my best to get them to play. It’s said I’m too interested in the cat to consider them in my new home. I’m a sweet heart that enjoys laying my big head on laps and offering some sloppy kisses to willing (or not) humans. I’m just a youngster with more learning to go but I have a great start. I’m house trained, walk well on leash and know sit and down. I can rest quietly in my crate for short spells and love my treats so additional training will be a snap! I’m a good boy looking for a great family! I am 18 months old and weigh a sleek 60 lbs. To learn more about me, contact my foster mom, Angela, at 503-807-1516 :)
here's me at my temporary foster home!

here's me on a hike with my foster mom

I feel so much better since my eye surgery!!!
YOU can help more MCAS shelter animals like me get the special medical care they need! like I was able to receive to fix my painful
eye entropian (my eyelash's turned into my eyeballs, ouch!)
Please contribute to the MCAS "DOLLY'S FUND!
all donations are used to help the animals get special medical care

here's me before my "entropian" eye surgery.
My eyelashes were "turning in" and scratching my eyeballs.
obviously painful!

"MELODY" sensitive young mix - wants a stable (more quiet) indoor home

ADOPTED!
Aug 30, 2015

Available for adoption with Multnomah County Animal Services

here's my Mcas weblink

Hello! My name is Melody and I'm a sensitive lady that's looking for a quiet home. I was found on the side of the freeway with my little brother, Coda. We were very scared, but are slowly coming out of our shells. I have to admit that he's a bit braver than I. Unfortunately I have very low self confidence and I am hoping that my new family will help show me that the world is not a scary place. The shelter is highly recommending that we attend reward based classes together to help me build my confidence. I am very food motivated, so I should catch on quickly. I am eager to please. I am a very sweet girl that loves people. I will stick by your side like your own shadow! I have recently met some kids and I just adored them and was very gentle. I hope you come and meet me today! I can't wait to become someone's partner for life! I am around 1 year old and weigh 37 pounds

WAYNE" sure is a handsome fella

ADOPTED!
Sept 1 2015

Available for adoption with Multnomah County Animal Services

here's my Mcas weblink  ( 9/1 adoption pending)

Hey! The name is Wayne. I sure am a handsome fella, don't you think? I am a 2 year old chihuahua mix that weighs 11 lbs. I have been a bit shy at the shelter, but have become quite the sweet guy with staff members I trust. Ask them, and they'll tell you how awesome my cuddling skills are! I would really enjoy a nice, quiet home with no kids under 10. I am cute and can be friendly, but little kids moving too fast make me nervous! If you like what you see, and want to know more, come down to meet me. You'll be glad you did!

Available for adoption with Multnomah County Animal Services

here's my Mcas weblink  (Curly has a pending adoption 8/27)

Hey everybody! My name is Curly and I'm looking for a new family! I was found as a stray, so not much is known about me. I can say that I am super loveable and adore every person I meet. My new family should be prepared to have me regularly groomed and brushed out. I also will need care for my ears. These Cocker Spaniel ears will always have the ability to become infected if not cleaned correctly. I hope you come down to the shelter and meet me soon. I am a swell guy and can't wait to cuddle up on your lap and give kisses. I am about 7 years old and weigh 15 pounds.

Aug 27, 2015

Available for adoption with Multnomah County Animal Services

here's my Mcas weblink (adoption pending neuter surgery 8/26)

Hi there! My name is Coda and I'm looking for a new family. For just 6 months old I am a pretty laid back guy that enjoys going for walks and exploring. I haven't learned my manners yet, so the shelter is highly recommending that we attend reward based classes together. I am super food motivated so I should catch on quick. I came to the shelter with my big sister, Melody, after someone found us along the freeway. We were very scared and sometimes new things are still a bit scary. I am hoping my new parents will help build my confidence and show me that the world isn't such a scary place. Please come down and meet me today. I weigh almost 30 pounds and growing.
