"CASPER" *Foster home* little MALTESE mix "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"CASPER"Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

CASPER plus video adoption $400  Breed:Maltese Mix

3 yrs 9 lbs neutered male  Housetrained: Yes

ok with Dogs - YES, Cats -unknown,  Kids- unknown

adoption application

Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Gentle, Playful

Casper, our 3 year old 9 pound Maltese mix, is pretty darn happy. How does he do it? Ask Casper and he'll tell you the keys to happiness are 1) get plenty of exercise, 2) eat snacks when ever you can, 3) never turn down a cuddle and 4) don't be ashamed to beg for what you want. We're sure we don't need to beg to find Casper his own home.

Casper was found stray after having been attacked by other dogs. He sustained a wound to his hip and broke several teeth defending himself. We took him in to help him heal (we had to give him an unflattering haircut due to the mats) and to extract those broken teeth. Now recovered, Casper is eager for his hair to grow back so he can resume impressing everyone with his handsomeness (sorry Casper!).

A delightful house-guest, Casper has been charming his foster family. He seems housetrained and at some point he was taught to sit and shake. Casper is good in his crate and is generally quiet. Casper loves to take walks and is up for adventures. He is excited on leash and pulls a bit, so his adopter will want to work on leash training. If a cat wants to run from him, he would not mind trying to chase that cat. But Casper has been great with other dogs his size; he is understandably wary of large dogs after his incident.

With people, Casper is very friendly and cuddly. He loves to show off his dancing/begging skills and is happy to crawl into any available lap. Casper asks for a collection of small squeaky toys and is hopeful his adopter will enjoy playing fetch. We have not seen Casper with kids. However, he resents being over-handled (us too) so we don't recommend small children in his new home.

Casper is heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventative.

We've been trying out Casper's keys to happiness this week. It seems to be working. But, he left out one important tip: we're all happier if we have a dog!

"PETER" *foster home* happy little *TRI_POD* CHIHUAHUA "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"PETER"Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

PETER plus video adoption $400  Breed: CHIHUAHUA

2 yrs 9 lbs neutered male  Housetrained: Yes

ok with Dogs - YES, Cats -YES,  Kids- unknown

adoption application

Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Playful, Loves Kisses

Peter, our 2 year old 9 pound chihuahua mix, won Best Smile when we put together our Stumptown Strays yearbook. It was no contest, really. He’s keen to show off his pearly whites when he’s happy, which is all of the time. We can’t wait to see his smile when we tell him we found him a home.

Found stray, Peter was likely hit by a car. His rear leg was badly damaged and, sadly, could not be saved. We took him in to amputate his leg and get him ready for adoption. Now that he’s healed, Peter is learning that tripods can do anything 4 legged dogs can do.
We would be hard pressed to find a negative thing to say about Peter. The closest we can come up with is that he periodically marks a chair that other dogs in his foster home have marked. But, really, that’s just Peter trying to fit in! Otherwise Peter is perfectly potty and crate trained. He loves greeting his foster family in the morning and always showcases his award winning grin.

At home, Peter has been great with other dogs and respectfully ignores cats. He is generally very quiet. Peter is energetic and playful, and loves a game of fetch. He also requires chew toys; otherwise Peter may make a chew toy out of the tassels on your pillow. Peter has never met a stranger and is remarkably friendly and cuddly.
Peter is heartworm negative and current on his preventatives. His adoption fee is $400.
Want to be the one to give Peter that reason to smile? Apply to adopt on our website today! https://www.stumptownstrays.org/adoption-application 💙

"SHAZ" *foster home* 8 mth PITbull PUP *Good house manners* "STUMPTOWN STRAYS" *great with dogs**great on leash* would like a dog companion, calm home*

Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"SHAZ"Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

SHAZ adoption $250  Breed: Breed: Pit Bull Terrier spayed female

8mths 42 lbs and growing

ok with Dogs, Ok with Cats,  Kids- unknown

adoption application

Personality: Affectionate, Athletic, Friendly, Funny, Loves, Playful, Smart

Shaz, our 8 month old 42 pound pitty, struggles with first impressions. Wary of strangers, she can be awkward and shy. Fast forward thirty minutes though, and Shaz is your best friend. Once you’re in, Shaz loves hard. Like most of us, she’s easy to win over with cheese.

Shaz is a great house guest. She is crate and potty trained, does well when left alone, and is quiet. Shaz is perfect with other dogs, both large and small. Shaz has also been respectful of cats (mostly observing them from a distance). Her hobbies include stick destruction, full body hugs, and playing with her housemates. Out and about, Shaz is great on a leash and is contemplative and not reactive.

Like a lot of pitties, Shaz has a loud bark. She will bark at new people coming into her space until she's sure they are safe. Although not at all aggressive, the bark may be alarming to children, so we don't recommend little kids in Shaz's home. Shaz makes friends easily with patience and treats, but we suspect Shaz would be stressed out in a house with a lot of strangers coming and going. We started Shaz on Prozac to help with her fear, and it's been helping. This medication is cheap and we recommend Shaz continue it for at least 6 months. As we always say, there's no shame in needing a little pharmaceutical help.

Shaz thrives with positive reinforcement and loves to be told she's doing things the right way. She needs to live with someone as gentle as she is who will let her go at her own speed. We also think Shaz would do best in a home with another confident dog or have access to dog playmates.

Shaz is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives. Her adoption fee is $250. Due to her breed, Shaz must be adopted by a home-owner or someone with written permission from their landlord.

Artemis absolutely loves the car and is always down for whatever adventure follows, plus she is a total joy to walk with her gentle leader on. Once it's time to unwind, she turns into a world class snuggler who wants to be right next to you or directly on top of you. For Artemis, physical contact is an absolute must!

Look at those incredible, expressive eyes! Meet Drumstick, a handsome American shelter dog mix who is ready to find his true forever home. Drumstick originally came to us as a stray, so while his past is a bit of a mystery, we already know he has a heart of gold. His kind finders cared for him for a few days before bringing him in, and they reported that he was wonderfully gentle and patient with their toddler. With those captivativly soft, thoughtful eyes and his calm demeanor, it's easy to see he is a special boy. Drumstick is looking for a family who will give him the security he deserves and plenty of love in return. If you're looking for a sweet, family-friendly companion with a gentle spirit, Drumstick might just be the perfect piece to complete your puzzle!

Knucklehead is a sweet, social, and strikingly beautiful dog ready to find her forever family. She is highly active and playful, with a special love for chasing tennis balls, which she could do for hours! Knucklehead is also a smart cookie who already knows the "sit" command and is eager to learn more. Because she is highly food motivated, training is fun and easy, though fair warning: she isn't shy about asking for snacks! She will sometimes bark to demand the treats she knows she deserves. Knucklehead is looking for a home that appreciates her lively personality, provides consistent training to harness her enthusiasm, and keeps a steady supply of tennis balls (and treats) on hand.  Nelson is an 18-month-old Cattle Dog mix who arrived at the shelter as a stray. The busy shelter environment can be a bit overwhelming for him, so he is looking for a home where he can decompress and find his footing. As a Cattle Dog mix, Nelson will thrive with an active family that can provide him with the physical exercise and mental stimulation he naturally craves. He is a smart, capable boy who is ready to leave his stray days behind. If you are looking for an alert and loyal companion for your daily adventures, Nelson is eager to meet you and start his next chapter in a stable, high-energy household.

Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier  $100

*foster home

This pet is in foster, you won't find them at the shelter

Hello! They call me Eclipse. I'm still figuring out this big, wide world. It can feel pretty overwhelming sometimes, but I'm trying every single day!

I need patience and kindness (and treats!) when being introduced to strangers, new sounds, and unfamiliar spaces, but once I'm comfortable, I have so much love to give!

I'm looking for a special person who understands that for me, trust isn't immediately given. It's built, slowly and gently, one good day at a time.

A peaceful, quiet home would mean the world to me, with space to breathe and the freedom to come to you on my own terms. When you become my person, my safe and trusted friend, you will have my heart forever.

Here's what you need to know about me:

I can be shy in new spaces. I need a family who will let me take things at my own pace as I learn about new things. Once I come out of my shell, I have lots of love to give.

I'm easy going. Wanna go for a walk? Okay. Hang out in the yard? No problem. Just relax on the couch? I can do that. I'm pretty happy to go at your pace and I don't really need much more than most dogs do. If you're looking for a steady companion, I'm all yours.

I have lived with other dogs, but it's still recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along.

I know some basic commands. I might know tricks like "sit" or "shake." When you meet me, one of my shelter friends can help demonstrate my skills!

I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please speak to an adoption counselor.
