"PENNY & CHARLIE BROWN" UPDATE!!*DIAMOND in the ROUGH PROGRAM!* *VOL FAVS!! **BONDED Pair* loving Cattledog/pitmix "OHS in Portland"

UPDATE!! Penny and Charlie Brown are now part of the "Diamond the Rough program" (read more about it)  A pretty sweet deal!

Basically, it's like a "Foster to Adopt", where you get all the extra support you need from OHS, meanwhile have the option to:

- Officially Adopt Penny and Charlie Brown

- Return the pets to the shelter (please use the OHS support before doing this?)

- OR... continue as a Foster Home until the dogs are adopted.

It's a win/win!

LOVE these guys!!   Penny and Charlie were quite sick from a bad case of kennel cough, but they are all better now and hoping to find a great home soon! These guys could be your new best friends!! They love each other and are smart loving dogs. Please give them a chance to settle in .

"PENNY & CHARLIE BROWN" AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at Oregon Humane Society  in Portland

spayed female, neutered male. 2 yrs 6 mths "Looks  like" American Pit Bull, Australian Cattledog

What my friends at OHS say about us:

  • We are bonded. We must go home together and our adoption fee includes both of us.
  • We would flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.
  • We may be shy at first, but once we get to know each other we will shower you with love!
  • We really enjoy the company of our human friends.
  • I love to learn! You can use my favorite toys or treats as positive reinforcement and to teach me new things.
  • Click here to sign-up for our Start over Rover class! We will help you set you on the right path to have the best life possible with your new furry friend through training, games, and exercises!
  • Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.
  • I am part of the Diamond in the Ruff program, which you can learn more about here.

"HONEY" sweet, shy COLLIE mix PUPPY "MCAS"

MCAS needs to spay/neuter all dogs before adoption, especially the females (and ensure that the dogs are given adequate care and recovery time!) Adopting intact dogs to new homes is grossly irresponsible in our current homeless dog crisis. EVEN POOR counties with a much smaller budget for animal control are ensuring that  the dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Management is failing the animals and the community.possible Solution? - lease/create an offsite space and hire part-time well- qualified Veterinarians and qualified volunteers to help out.  Provide safe spay/neuter and provide a safe recovery space so all adoptable animals are spay/neutered before they go to new homesMore veterinarians would be willing to help, if they were given more autonomy, and if they could work away from the animal shelter.

What my friends at OHS say about me:

    • I have been working with the Behavior team at OHS and I'm looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. Click the "meet me" button to start the process and schedule an appointment.
    • To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.
    • I love to learn! You can use my favorite toys or treats as positive reinforcement and to teach me new things.
    • I am deaf which just means I'll need a little extra patience and care when we're learning new things together and while getting settled into my new home and family.
    • I love a good snack, can you blame me?! Snacks are a great way to make friends with me and teach me fun tricks.
    • Resource Guarding: I have a history of guarding my people, food, toys and/or bedding from other animals.
    • High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.
    • I am silly, young boy full of personality - sweet, goofy, and oh-so-ready to be your best buddy. Whether it's snuggling up for a cozy cuddle or bouncing around with my favorite toys, I've got tons of love to give.
    • In my last home, I did great in the crate!

The type of home I'm looking for:

    • I need a home without cats or other small animals.
    • I need to go to a home without small children. I may accidentally knock them over in my excitement or try to steal their toys to play with.
    • I may prefer to be the only dog in the home. My special needs require experienced owners or all eyes on me.
    • I will need to meet any canine companions prior to getting adopted.
    • It could be with you! Click here to learn about the adoption process.

Meet Grouse! This energetic and playful two-and-a-half-year-old is possibly a charming mix of Australian Cattle Dog and Bull Terrier. Grouse is a social butterfly who loves to be the life of the party! She's a smart cookie who is highly motivated by treats, making her a star student for anyone who loves to work on training and fun tricks. Grouse would thrive in an active home with a family that can keep up with her zest for life. She loves to play, explore, and learn new things. Because she's still learning how to use her mouth appropriately, she would do best in a home with kids over 12 who understand and respect her unique way of expressing herself. If you're looking for a fun-loving companion to join you on hikes, runs, or just a good game of fetch in the backyard, Grouse is your girl!

    Hi, I’m Henry!

I am a sweet 12-year-old GWP looking for my new forever home. I am sadly in need of a new place to call home because I have lost my father. The Newberg Animal Shelter is helping me find a comfortable couch or bed to lay my head on. I am a very sweet and loving boy who enjoys the company of low-energy female dogs. However, I do have a prey drive, so I am not suitable for a home with cats; squirrels are also on my list of arch-nemeses! If you have cats or are upset by the occasional squirrel gift left on your doorstep, I might not be the right fit for you. While I was with my dad, I was very spoiled. I even had my own personal stool at a local watering hole where I was always loved. If you would like to meet me and play, please contact the shelter to set up a visit!

If you are interested in meeting me, the shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday 11am – 6pm.
If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.

"BEATLE" *Overlooked* Lab/ROTTIE mix - *affectionate* active, *Good on leash with harness "MCAS"

"If you can provide an only-dog home, please consider Beatle! He should have a responsible adopter who will look out for other pups on walks and not expect him to be a "dog park dog", but he has so much love to give, is engaging & fun, and is ready to be in a forever home. Volunteers love Beatle, and it's clear to see he appreciates all of his human friends at the shelter. I hope Beatle finds the happy ever after he deserves soon!"  Mcas Volunteer

"As a dog walker I thoroughly enjoy walking Beatle each week; he is a true rock star. He is very calm at leash up. He loves going for walks, being with people and playing fetch. Beatle walks well on leash and does not pull. He tunes in to his walker and has been trained in commands like sit and wait. He is house trained and clearly prefers to not make a mess in his kennel. He has a fun attitude and he loves affection. This smart dog will do well with rewards based training, consistent care and exercise, and a loving family. Please consider bringing him home, or spread the word so he can find his forever home!"  Volunteer MCAS FB
