Personality: Funny, Loves, Dignified, Friendly 

  Geraldine, our 6 pound 13 year old terrier mix, is an inspiration. A representative of how to age, not gracefully but fearlessly, Geraldine is spunky and funny. She knows who she is and what she wants and is happy to share those opinions with you. What Geraldine wants now is a fun-loving retirement home; we've been tasked to find her one.

Found stray, Geraldine looked like a lint covered rat and her breath could knock a buzzard off a garbage truck. She needed some fixing up, and we happily took her in. She had no salvageable teeth, but eats (and smells) much better without them. We also spayed Geraldine and removed a low grade mammary cancer (not expected to return). Geraldine has cataracts, but can still see the important things in life. She's had normal senior bloodwork and is healed from her procedures.

Friendly, leash trained, and brave, Geraldine is fun to take around town. She is good with other dogs (all sizes, on or off leash) and doesn't mind cats. Potty trained and mostly quiet (Geraldine sometimes barks at things that only she can see), she's an easy guest. Geraldine has boundaries, however. Although she's sweet and cuddly, she does NOT like being shaved or handled for veterinary visits ("UNHAND ME!"). She's got 'okay' hearing, but startles if snuck up on, and that annoys her. Do not put Geraldine in a crate or you will get an ear-full. Because she can be a little spitfire, and even though she has no teeth, we think Geraldine would prefer not to live with little kids. Geraldine would prefer someone who is home a lot. She wants to share her golden years with someone; not wait around all day for them.

Heartworm negative, Geraldine is current on her preventatives.

We'll. never know what Geraldine's first 13 years were like. But we promised Geraldine that the rest of her years will be the best ones yet.

Provide safe spay/neuter and provide a safe recovery space so all adoptable animals are spay/neutered before they go to new homes.  More veterinarians could be recruited if given a competitive wage and more autonomy

Personality: Affectionate, Gentle, Loves, Friendly 

Baza, our 1 year old 17 pound small dog mix, is so stinking cute. She's cute enough that she could probably get away with being a jerk. Instead, Baza decided to be so stinking sweet! Her only flaw, really, is her inability to dodge traffic. So, we're looking for an adopter to help Baza stay out of the road.

Baza was found stray with a badly injured leg after being hit by a car. We took her in and found that, unfortunately, her leg could not be salvaged. Although she's now a tripod, Baza runs and plays like any other dog. She's proof that all dogs are born with 3 legs and a spare.

A delightful house guest, Baza is (mostly) potty trained, not destructive and is good with dogs and cats. She's very friendly, and seems to prefer the company of people over animals. Baza mostly wants a lap to curl up in. Baza is leash trained and excited to go on walks. She absolutely hates being in a crate, but has been good when left out on her own. Baza would be fine with slightly older, respectful kids and a house that isn't too noisy - sudden loud noises spook her (us too).

Baza is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.

Can you keep Baza from trying to play Frogger on the highway?

EVEN POOR counties with a much smaller budget for animal control are ensuring that  the dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Management is failing the animals and the community....Possible Solution? - lease/create an offsite space and hire part-time well- qualified Veterinarians and qualified volunteers to help out. Provide safe spay/neuter and provide a safe recovery space so all adoptable animals are spay/neutered before they go to new homes.  More veterinarians could be recruited if given a competitive wage and more autonomy

Here's what you need to know about me:

I'm easy going. I need a loving owner who will help me work through some skin issues. I may be nearly 8 years old, yet, I have a sweet energy! Wanna go for a walk? Okay. Hang out in the yard? No problem. Just relax on the couch? I can do that. I'm pretty happy to go at your pace and I don't really need much more than most dogs do. If you're looking for a steady companion, I'm all yours.

My foster knows me better than anyone! Here's what they had to say about me during my time with them:

Princess is a sweetheart! She is mellow and easy. She likes cuddles and full body massages. She's very easy to walk. She likes to stop sniff the roses, but is happy to trot along by your side, too. She does not bark other dogs and has had friendly interactions with them when allowed. The way to her heart is through her stomach - She loves carrots, cheese & frozen berries!

It's recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along.
