"We
were asked to take Thicket, a sweet 16-pound Pomeranian, from the local
shelter. Thicket needed some dental care and was pretty scared. During
our exam, we were quite surprised to find that Thicket was pregnant
with 5 puppies (4 girls and a boy!)
Sometimes we agree to help one dog and end up actually helping 6. And that’s where fostering comes in.
We
absolutely could not do this work without dedicated foster homes. When
we have a pregnant dog like Thicket, it’s an 8-to-10-week commitment to
house the puppies from birth to adoption (and there is a lot of mess
along the way). But seeing them start to wag their tails and play at
week 4 makes it all worth it.
If
