UPDATE 7/19/25 Foster to adopt
on his way to his new foster to adopt
UPDATE 7/19/25 OWE FB posts
UPDATE 7/19: Brownie has gone home with a lovely woman and her older GSP female Gracie. So long as Gracie continues to accept the youthful exuberance of Brownie and permits him to occupy her domain, everyone should be happy
UPDATE 7/18 720pm: We have a meet and greet scheduled with a potential adopter arranged for tomorrow. A meet and greet is no guarantee of a match but it's a step in the right direction. Updates to follow.
.
FOSTER/ADOPT??? Brownie is a 2 year old, 55#, male German Shorthaired Pointer who is looking to transition to an Adoptive Home or a new Temporary Foster because his current foster dad needs the slot for a previously arranged dog coming into our care shortly. We took this young guy on as a transfer from a local shelter because he was beginning to deteriorate due to the stressful environment (not eating and beginning to shut down). After being pulled he immediately perked up and began eating normally and has loved, I mean loved, having a yard and other dogs to play with. Brownie is super friendly, has an excellent cheery disposition, loves fetch and is just so grateful to be free and living a "normal" life alongside caring people. His tail is always wagging, he is always carrying a ball or stuffed toy and is a total sweetheart. He has a full healthy tail, is current on vaccines, microchipped, wire crate trained, bathes easily, has had no potty accidents, recalls really well to his name + sit, has shown no fear of loud noises or environmental stuff and rides like a champ in vehicles. Brownie really is the foster dog you always hope for

Currently located in Tigard, OR
.
***Brownie is at this time intact and we cannot move to get him neutered until he puts some healthy weight on. OWR will be covering the cost of this procedure when the time comes.
.
What we are looking for in a potential adopter or foster home:
-No cats because he seems birdy and into critters
-If other dogs present, friendly and spayed/neutered a must
-Active household (he is totally happy to spend the day at your side while you work on the computer but then in the evening he wants you to engage him in running around)
.
.
---If you are interested in potentially FOSTERING, send us a FB message with your name, address and phone number so we can reach out
.
WE WILL BE WORKING DILIGENTLY TO QUICKLY GET THIS GUY MOVED ALONG AS HE DOES NOT NEED OUR SERVICES, JUST A HOME AND LOVE
UPDATE 7/16/25 TRANSFERRED to Oregon Weimaraner Rescue and on adoption

after a long day of running around |
==============
PLEASE let your active friends know that BROWNIE is in the crowded local Multnomah county shelter (the pound)looking for a home!
Brownie's breed is built to effortlessly run, and he would love a good home where he has a safe outlet to run with you... but German Shorthairs are also velcro dogs who love their people and their favorite place in the house is chilling by their person's side.
======================
MCAS
needs to spay/neuter all dogs before adoption (and ensure that the dogs are given adequate care and recovery time!)
Adopting
intact dogs to new homes is grossly irresponsible in our current
homeless dog crisis. EVEN POOR counties with a much smaller budget for
animal control are ensuring that the dogs are spayed/neutered prior to
adoption. Management
is failing the animals and the community.

Looking for an intelligent and energetic partner? Say hello to Brownie, a
striking 2.5-year-old Pointer! Brownie is new to us, and though his
history is a mystery, his present is all about enthusiasm and focus. He
thrives on mental stimulation and physical activity, so he'll need a
home committed to keeping him engaged and happy. Think long walks,
puzzle toys, training, and plenty of play. If you're ready to embrace a
smart and active companion, Brownie is ready for you!
