"RANCH" friendly, playful, active CATTLE DOG/Beagle * lived with dogs, cats* "OHS- PORTLAND"

UPDATE 7/26/25 ADOPTED

Ranch - has positive experiences with other dogs of all sizes, cats in the previous home, and meeting new people. He is an energetic dog who would do great in a home without tiny kids as he could accidentally knock them over. He can be a bit of an escape artist as he can jump over baby gates, short fences, and can open door handles, but can be left alone safely in secure rooms. He’s a sweet boy who would love a home to be spoiled in with adventures!

*I'm a favorite of staff and volunteers.

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • I have been working with the Behavior team at OHS and I'm looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. Click the "meet me" button to start the process and schedule an appointment.
  • To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.
  • I love to learn! You can use my favorite toys or treats as positive reinforcement and to teach me new things.
  • I really enjoy playing with toys! Squeaky soft type of toys are my favorite!
  • High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.
  • I am used to living an active lifestyle! I would love to get up and go adventure with you.
  • I love to be the center of attention. All eyes and pets on me, please!
  • I love to be around people! I'd make a great buddy for curling up on the couch to watch a movie.
  • I will be your shadow even on those grey PNW days.
  • I had so much fun meeting another dog here in the shelter. My friends at OHS think I would be great at making new dog friends!
  • Escape Artist: I have a history of escaping doors or fences. I will need supervision when outdoors or we can go on adventures together - on leash of course!

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I will need to meet any canine companions prior to getting adopted.
  • I need to go to a home without small children. Fast movements and loud noises can frighten me.
