" SAL" aka "Salamander" AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at Oregon Humane Society  in Portland

COMMANDER SAL"  Available 6/26/2025  #318622  $50

neutered male, "looks like" Lab/German Shepherd 4 yrs 6 mths, 62 lbs

  • What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • Hi! I'm Salamander, aka Sal: a spunky, food-loving, puzzle-feeder enthusiast with a personality as silly as my name.
  • It may take me a few days to get settled in before I feel at home, but once I'm comfortable, I'm a wonderful companion! My foster families have all raved about what a great houseguest I am.
  • I can pull while I'm out on walks because, well, I've got places to go! I'm learning to walk on a head halter so walk time is even more enjoyable for everyone.
  • I'm known for my signature head tilt and ears that flap in the wind!
  • Though it's always good to aim for slow, positive introductions to new people and animals, I have a good history living and playing with kids. I have had good playdates with other dogs, but may do best as an only pet as I can get a little anxious if the other animals don't let me be in their space.
  • I may benefit from a dental cleaning or extractions in the future.

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I lived with toddlers and babies in my last home.
  • I will need to meet any canine companions prior to getting adopted - I have made lots of dog friends and might do well with a dog in the home!
