Yakima, WA is a long drive from Portland, but the Yakima Humane Society seems like a decent animal shelter that could use a boost. They spay/neuter all their adoption pets and try to do adequate adoption screening (which is more than can be currently said of Mult County animal shelter!)
"Tasha" this little scared Weimaraner mix came up in a search field and I couldn't resist featuring her! Take a look at the other dogs in the shelter too! Lots of nice big dogs available at that shelter

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Tasha, a two year old Weimaraner/Terrier mix weighing 28 pounds.
Tasha is an adorably petite girl who we joke is a mini Weimaraner! She was found running around with three other dogs and seems to do well with dogs and she has hung out in a staff member’s office with a smaller dog. Tasha is a shy girl who is learning to open up and trust new people. The good news is that Tasha is treat oriented and loves food so we are winning her over. We are looking for a home that will take their time with Tasha and show her that new things aren’t scary and not everything has to be barked at. She would do best in a quieter home without young kids for right now. Due to Tasha being a bit on the flighty side we recommend leash walking her at first so she doesn’t get free and bolt and you also don’t have to try and catch her if you have a larger backyard. Tasha is really just needing someone to go slow and show her the world isn’t the scary place she thinks it is. Are you that person?
