Gaston, our 5 year old 37 pound bulldog mix, also goes by "Zoolander". Why? Because he's really ridiculously good-looking, of course. Look at that giant head. Actually, look at that body - so small. Wall-eyed, underbite, bowlegged.... Gaston, did it hurt when you fell from heaven?

Gaston was found stray and horribly emaciated. We were asked to help, because, well, look at him. Bred to have dwarfism, Gaston has a congenital spinal abnormality that causes his back to be way too short and curved. His conformation has also resulted in arthritis in his hips, shoulders and knees. To top it off, Gaston has a congenital heart murmur. Fortunately, the good folks at CVA did an echo for us, and Gaston doesn't need any medications for his heart. Just something to monitor for now.

Gaston is much happier on anti-inflammatory medication for his joints. This should be continued long term. Some asshole chopped off Gaston's ears to...make him look tough? We aren't sure. But this has caused scarring and Gaston is more prone to ear infections. All this said, would you believe us when we say Gaston is a very happy dog?

Friendly, house broken, crate trained and great with other dogs, Gaston is easy to have around. Like as easy as a bag of potatoes. Gaston mostly loves napping, and will happily do that wherever he's parked. When not snoozing, he's a meditative walker that spends time sniffing all the flowers. Gaston loves to be pampered; he's happy in a bath being scrubbed and massaged. At a previous foster, Gaston did chase a cat, so we don't recommend he lives with them. And only respectful children in Gaston's home due to his joints.

Gaston has had xrays, bloodwork, a dental and is current on his flea and heartworm preventatives. He is heartworm negative.

We hope whoever cut Gaston's ears off and then didn't feed him always has a warm, wet pillow. Although we can't make that happen, we can get Gaston a great home. Is it you?
