"POSSUM" cutest Pocket Pittie "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

HAPPY update 6/24/25   Stumptown Strays FB

ADOPTED!
Possum, our 2 year old pocket pittie, came to us after being found stray and emaciated with a cherry eye and a non-healing wound on her tail. She needed to gain weight before we could surgically correct her cherry eye and spay her. It also ended up being medically necessary to amputate her tail but once she was all healed up, this playful sweet girl was ready to find her own forever home.
Scottie and Christine felt their hearts melt when they saw Possum’s photos on social media and simply had to apply to adopt her - turned out to be a perfect match. We felt she would thrive in a home with another dog friend and we’re happy to share that in her forever home she now has TWO canine siblings (and a few cats to round out the family)!! She gets to play all kind of fun learning games, explore and romp in her own backyard, and she’s even the star of her human’s virtual work meetings. We’re so happy this girl’s future is so bright.
Congratulations Possum!

Possum, our 2 year old 23 pound pocket pitty, is so cute that it's distracting. She's mastered the "Pitty Stare" with her big brown eyes. Her underbite assures that her little bottom teeth are always poking out. And if being outrageously adorable wasn't enough of a distraction, Possum is sweet sweet sweet. Which is a miracle because our Possum had a rough start to life. We've promised her it's all looking up from here.

Found stray and emaciated, Possum was taken to the shelter. We were asked to help get her healthy and to address a cherry-eye (a prolapsed gland of the 3rd eyelid) and a non-healing wound to her tail. Once Possum gained some weight, we got her in to correct her eyelid and spay her. Sadly, Possum also had to have much of her tail amputated, but she has a cute nub to wag. Amputating her tail was a medical necessity; whoever amputated her ears did so because they suck.

Although she's 2 years old, Possum is still very puppy-like. Her foster says it's as if she's 2 years going on 2 months. Possum is playful and loves other dogs; she's been respectful with their boundaries and takes cues well. We think she would thrive with a dog friend in her forever home. Although we have not seen Possum with cats, she has no prey drive, and we suspect she'd be fine around them. Perhaps a bit on the reserved/nervous side, Possum is friendly and asks for pets from everyone, even kids, once she gets over her shyness.

When she's not playing, Possum naps like it's her full time job. She is still learning how to walk on a leash and potty-training has been a struggle for her, but Possum is smart and food motivated and is getting the hang of it. Possum is crate trained and very quiet.

Possum is heartworm negative and is current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.

Think you could use a distraction? Want to spend more time staring into the eyes of the world's cutest pocket pitty?
