Treat, our 3-ish year old 17 pound mix, has been researching her ancestry. Her foster family assisted with this quest by submitting Treat's DNA. Turns out, she's 55% Boston Terrier and 21% Chihuahua. Sprinkle in several other little dogs and you've got a good picture of Treat's family tree. Now that we know where Treat came from, it's time to figure out where she's going!

Found stray, Treat's microchip was a dead end. The shelter asked us to help as Treat had a couple of teeth (and a uterus) that needed to go. We couldn't resist that face and happily took her in.

A fun guest, Treat is friendly to people and readily doles out kisses. Treat is great with other dogs and isn't shy about chasing her much larger foster dog siblings around the yard. Passionate about walks, Treat has two main goals while out and about. 1) Pee on everyone else's pee and 2) get a squirrel. Treat has been working on not barking excitedly when she sees fun things on walks. Treat's adopter should be prepared to continue to work on her leash training. She has been easy to redirect as she loves food- so much, in fact, that she dances on her hind legs for snacks.

We have not seen Treat with a cat, but we have seen her with a cat decoy, and Treat was fairly creeped out. So, we can say for sure Treat doesn't want to live with a cat decoy. We suspect Treat would be fine in a house with respectful older children. Her ideal home will be in a neighborhood that isn't too crowded as very busy places make Treat nervous. At home, Treat's number one decoration requirement is plenty of blankets that she can bury herself under.

Treat is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.

Although Treat's DNA may no longer be a mystery, we still don't know who her forever person is. Perhaps it's you?
