Butch is ready to find his adoptive home! This gentle giant is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves people. He'll lean in for pets and show off his "loose open grin." He explores the yard, but frequently checks back in with his people, demonstrating his curiously adventurous but people-social nature.
Butch is also a calm and friendly companion with other dogs. In playgroups at the shelter, he's comfortable hanging out with the other dogs, but he doesn't always feel the need to engage in active play. Instead, he's more interested in exploring his surroundings- maybe keeping an eye out for small animals like squirrels and birds. Adoption counselors can provide guidance on introducing Butch to other pets in his new home. While he's not a fan of toys or games like fetch, he's more than happy to spend his time with you, whether it's on a walk or snuggling on the couch.
This handsome, gentle guy is a total softie who loves a good cuddle and is patiently waiting for a loving family to give him the forever home he deserves.
You can adopt Butch during our September adoption special for a $25 adoption fee. License fees and long-term costs and commitments apply. Standard adoption fees will resume on October 1, so now is a great time to come in to visit with Butch and his friends at our Troutdale shelter.

SUNDANCE  update 9/4/25  adopted   #365430 listed as Anatolian Shepherd male, 1 yr 6 mths 97 lbs

Say hello to the one and only Sundance! 🌞 This sweet, reserved boy arrived at the shelter with his big brother Butch, and he's been relying on him for confidence ever since. Sundance is a bit shy at first, but once he warms up, he's a total sweetheart who loves a good head scratch and a quiet lap to curl next to. His dreams of a home that would be a calm and patient one where he can feel safe and secure. And if you have room in your heart and home for two, he'd be over the moon to find his forever family with his brother Butch. 🐾❤️
