Hello!! My name is Gertrude and I am an affectionate and adorable two
year old Frenchie/Pittie mix who's looking for a home with someone to
cuddle up with - I love to cuddle! When I arrived at the shelter I was
nervous and frightened, and with a little time and TLC I have come out
of my shell and have become so loving and sweet. I was previously in
foster for about a month, and we learned I am crate trained and working
on my potty training. I have also been very good for teeth brushing and
nail trims. I have been working on clicker training, and I think
continuing that training would be a great way for us to bond and learn
together. I am still young and busy and can get pretty active and
playful in the evening, and enjoyed exploring my foster's fenced in
backyard with supervision - and I LOVE my squeaky and chew toys. I will
do best in a quieter home with someone who is there more often than
gone. Something to note about me is that I am pretty wary of strangers,
though this is something we've been working on, and I'm improving. I
seem to prefer women, and have been tense around men I do not know. I
was also observed to be nervous around children, and I have not
interacted with any so far. I lived with 2 dogs in my foster home, and
we got along very well for the majority of my stay. I enjoyed trading
toys and going on daily walks with them. Towards the end, I got into a
tiff with one of my brothers over dinner, so I should be fed separately
from other animals in the home. Overall, I am looking for a family who
is willing to take any and all introductions to new people and animals
very slow. I need time to know that I can trust you, and I need some
more practice with dog to dog communication. I am very eager to please
you and can't wait to show you how sweet I am! :)
