Vasher has been in training to nevernibble when overly excited (*nibbling* - is a positive trait for actively working herding breeds, then punished by people if the dog ever non-aggressively exhibits this and braked the skin that is very thin skin ) makes you wonder..........
"Animal shelters around the country are struggling to find homes for large dogs–especially those with behavior challenges. OHS’ Behavior Modification program helps dogs and cats who have run out of options.
They benefit from the healing environment of the Behavior and Rescue Center at OHS to help them transform. Cats are getting ready for adoption 66% faster and dogs are ready 77% faster.
Vasher, a 1-year-old kelpie was transferred from Marion County Dog Services, he became frustrated in the shelter environment and his behavior deteriorated.
He is now at the Behavior and Rescue Center where he is learning valuable skills to be successful in a home. Your support can help animals like Vasher get the training support they need to be ready to find a loving home."OHS- FB 10/1/25

What my friends at OHS say about me:
- I have been working with the Behavior and Training team here at OHS for consistency and am looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. You'll need to meet with me multiple times before taking me home.
- To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.
- High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.
- I love to learn! You can use my favorite toys or treats as positive reinforcement and to teach me new things.
- Click here to sign-up for our Start over Rover class! We will help you set you on the right path to have the best life possible with your new furry friend through training, games, and exercises!
- Need a pal to motivate you to get up and go? That's me!
- I love nothing more than making new friends, human and canine!
- The staff here say I'm being dramatic, but it feels like I'll die when I'm not getting attention!
- I had so much fun meeting another dog here in the shelter. My friends at OHS think I would be great at making new dog friends!
- I like to weave between your legs while you walk, so I may not be the best fit for folks with mobility challenges.
The type of home I'm looking for:
- My energy and size can be a lot for little kids, but I would do great with older, dog-savvy children.
- I need a home without cats or other small animals.
