Patrick, our 18 pound 4 month old puppy, is having a growth spurt. The
growth has been primarily directed to the ear area. We can't guarantee
that the rest of Patrick's body will catch up, but we did tell Patrick
that it would. So, when you meet him, please don't point out that he
looks like a jack rabbit.
Patrick was found after having been hit
by a car. He sustained a broken pelvis, so we took him in to give him
time to heal. After weeks of rest, you'd never know Patrick had been
injured. In fact, he's quite the daredevil. If allowed, we suspect
Patrick would take up base jumping (note: he's not allowed). Patrick can
now do all the things other puppies can do (not base jumping).
In
his foster home, Patrick is learning the ropes. He's crate trained and
has given himself a strict bedtime of 9 pm. Patrick is potty trained and
is learning what is a chew toy and what is NOT a chew toy. Smart and
curious, Patrick loves to explore almost as much as he loves to cuddle
and play.
Patrick is learning how to make friends with new
people. He's a little shy, but is coming out of his shell more every
day. Once Patrick realizes a stranger has treats, they quickly becomes
part of his inner circle. Patrick is good with other dogs and was
recently the star of his puppy social class. We suspect a dog-savvy cat
could also win Patrick over, as could kids older than 10.
Patrick
is current on his flea and heartworm prevenatives and is up-to-date on
his vaccines. Like all puppies, Patrick needs an adopter who will
continue to work on his training and socialization (please, for the love
of Dog, don't apply for a puppy that you don't plan to train). We
suspect Patrick will be just shy of 40 pounds fully grown.
Are you curious to see if Patrick's body ever catches up to his ears? Only one way to find out!
