Jules is a beautiful Australian Cattle Dog mix seeking a patient and understanding home. Currently nervous and fearful in new situations, she needs a calm, quiet environment to decompress and learn to trust. While shy now, Jules has great potential and will blossom with gentle encouragement, positive reinforcement, and a consistent routine. Her ideal home would be with patient adults or older, gentle children, potentially with a confident dog companion (with careful introductions), and a secure fenced yard. Jules needs someone special to see past her fear and give her the loving, supportive home she deserves to thrive. Could you be the one to give this sweet girl a chance?

Meet Sam{Sammy}, a vibrant, pint-sized 6-year-old American Husky mix with a zest for life! This playful girl is always ready for an adventure, whether it's a brisk walk in the park, a game of fetch, or learning new tricks (she's incredibly food-motivated!). Sam's high energy means she'd thrive in an active home with plenty of opportunities for exercise and mental stimulation. She's a smart cookie and eager to please, making training a rewarding experience for both of you. 🌟 Important Note: Sam does exhibit some resource guarding of her food and toys. Potential adopters should be aware of this and willing to work with her using positive reinforcement techniques to manage this behavior. This may require some patience and understanding. Additionally, Sam is handling sensitive, and can be a bit cautious in new situations, and she needs a patient and understanding adopter who will give her time to adjust. 🐾 Once she builds trust, she blossoms into a loving and loyal companion. She's looking for a forever home where she can feel safe and secure, and in return, she'll shower you with affection and endless entertainment. If you're ready for a fun-loving and devoted furry friend, and are prepared to work with her resource guarding and sensitivity, Sam might just be the perfect match!

"MARCELINE" *HOSPICE HOME Needed* darling young Pitmix "STUMPTOWN"

Marcelline came from a local shelter.

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"MARCELINE" is Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Pitbull mix, spayed female, house trained, 2 yr 52 lbs

Dogs- yes Cats-no, Kids-10 and up

Personality: Affectionate, Athletic, Playful, Loves, Funny, Friendly

Marceline, our 2 year old 52 pound pitty, is far too young to be seeking a hospice home. And we hate that we are asking for one. But, sadly, that's what Marceline needs. We are seeking a really special family who wants to give Marceline the best life; even if that life may be shorter than it should be.

Marceline was found stray locally with a large growth on her mandible.
Being so young, we were very hopeful that the growth was benign. We took her in, and thanks to the @1510Foundation for covering Marceline's care in its entirety, we were able to get surgery @MedVet Vancouver. There, they removed the tumor along with the front part of her jaw. She's healed beautifully and you can hardly tell that she's now got an overbite.

Sadly, the pathologist classified the tumor as a rare type of cancerous bone tumor. It is likely this tumor will regrow and it could metastasize to her lungs. We don't know when (or honestly even IF) this will happen. It could be in a few months, it could take years. Right now, she has no signs of cancer and is as happy as any dog we've met.

Marceline is a medium energy, super playful dog. She is happy with a sniff walk (and is good on leash) and fetch in the yard. She loves other dogs, especially if they match her vibe. She can get a little persistent about playing, however, so an easily annoyed dog won't be a good match. Marceline can't tell the difference between cats, little dogs and squirrels - she wants to put all of them in her mouth. So no cats or little dogs in her home.

Marceline is friendly with people and loves to cuddle. She has been good with kids that she's met and could live with kids over 10. Marceline is potty-trained, not destructive, and hasn't needed a crate. She would love to be an adventure buddy.

Our Marceline is here for a good time (not a long time). We are still so honored to help Marceline live a pain free life and to give her a chance to be happy. If you have been hoping to give a dog her best years, apply to adopt.

"NICKOLAS" Up for a drive? **LONGTERM shelter HUSKY ** "YAKIMA HS"

THIS Handsome Husky Nickolas has been living in the shelter since JULY 2024!  Research the Husky breed,  be patient and understanding, and let him adjust to a new home (and don't return him or rehome him because "he is too active!")

Yakima Humane Society   info

Dogs on their website   https://yakimahumane.org/adopt/dogs/

Yakima, WA is a long drive from Portland, but the Yakima Humane Society seems like a decent animal shelter that could use a boost for attention.   They spay/neuter all their adoption pets and try to do adequate adoption screening (which is more than can be currently said of Mult County animal shelter!)

NICKOLAS intake 7/27/24  Pet id 56448114 Adoption fee $175

"Listed as" Siberian Husky mix", male, 2yrs, 7mth 70 lbs

Meet Nickolas, a 2-year-old male Husky mix.

Nickolas is a very handsome boy who weighs in around 70 pounds. He loves to play with people and other dogs, his current favorite playmate is Marci. He will play tug with plush toys and rope toys and is really fun to be around. Nickolas doesn't have a shy bone in his body, he is happy, outgoing and is perfectly fine being the center of attention. This big ole' goofball is ready to go home today and can't wait to go on his next adventure.

This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.
If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday.

A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

"IZZIE" amazing DOBIE/ Border Collie mix * in foster- "YAKIMA HUMANE SOCIETY:

Yakima, WA is a long drive from Portland, but the Yakima Humane Society seems like a decent animal shelter that could use a boost for attention.   They spay/neuter all their adoption pets and try to do adequate adoption screening (which is more than can be currently said of Mult County animal shelter!)

IZZIE intake 3/21/25  Pet id 57093893  Adoption fee $175

FB Post In foster "Listed as" Doberman/BorderCollie", female, 2 years 5 months 26 days

"Izzie is another one of our amazing dogs in foster. Read below for a little write up from her foster mom and head on over to our website to apply to adopt her today!

Izzie is an adorable 2-year-old Doberman/ Border Collie mix. Izzie can be a bit shy when you first meet her, but with a little patience (and maybe some chicken jerky) she transforms into the silliest and most loving little girl. Inside the home Iz is an absolute cuddle bug. She wants to be right next to you, napping (normally on her back with her paws up in the air), or relishing in your attention and affection. She loves slow mornings that start with lots of cuddles. When her nightly zoomies kick in, she loves playing tug-of-war and will happily dart around the house, hoping you’ll chase her.

Outside, Izzie enjoys exploring her surroundings and making new dog friends. She absolutely lights up when she gets to run and play with a furry companion and burn off some of her energy! She is very submissive with other dogs and does a good job at reading their body language to make sure they are also enjoying playing with her. She is a great running/ walking companion.

Izzie is always excited to get outside, and she doesn’t pull on the leash. When she gets let off of her leash she likes to sniff around and explore but will always run right back to her person.

Izzie rarely chews on items and can always be redirected with a bone or toy. When Izzie first came into foster care, she was pretty nervous and definitely had a few accidents. However, as she has gotten more comfortable, they have become increasingly rare, and she is good at letting you know if she needs to go out. She is not very food motivated, and often lets her breakfast sit until the afternoon (teenagers!).

Izzie has a skittish side, especially with men, which may be the result of some past trauma. She is wary of strangers, but we have seen her gain so much confidence in approaching and engaging with people since coming into foster care. Once you earn her trust, you’ll have a devoted and loving best friend who just wants to be wherever you are.

Hermes is a top dog with a heart of gold! This intelligent, affectionate, and gentle boy has been a longer-term resident with us since December and is ready to find his forever family. 💕 He's a sweet guy and a real cuddler, he will happily lean in for affection once he is comfortable and has appropriately met everyone! After he's gotten his energy out for the day, he's happiest just hanging out and cuddling with his loved ones. Hermes still has that youthful dog energy and enjoys walks, playing fetch, and has even trotted happily alongside his person for short distances. He also LOVES participating in playgroup with many of his dog friends, though he is partial to the ladies!🐾 He's eager to learn and already knows several commands, including sit, stay, and almost lay down. He's also a champ on leash (harness attached)! He's currently working on his door manners, learning to wait patiently, sit while leashing/ unleashing, and wait for his people to enter the house before him. Because of his desire to be with his people, he'd do best with a person or family who is home more often than not and a home with children over 8 years of age.

{note: Cedar is back at the shelter, and you can meet him in person today!}

Meet Cedar, the playful and sensitive boy who's been patiently waiting to find his forever home! This bundle of joy loves to be goofy and has a knack for running after toys. His favorite activities include going for walks, playing, and, of course, enjoying tasty treats-especially cheese!

Cedar has shown incredible resilience and has been adjusting beautifully to life outside the shelter. Since moving in with his foster family, he has revealed his gentle and loving nature. His sparse coat has seen major improvement while in foster care and even his time at the shelter, so we are hopeful that with continued love and care, his fur will truly shine. He's a clever pup who has quickly mastered using a dog door and sits patiently for treats, taking them softly from your hand.

Cedar loves to lend a helping paw in the kitchen and enjoys snuggling up beside you. He's also a great companion for car rides, waiting nicely while you run errands and proving to be non-destructive when left alone.

Cedar is a young and active dog who needs daily exercise and would thrive in a home with an equal-sized or larger dog friend for playtime (with a slow introduction, please!). Alternatively, he would be delighted to be part of an active family with no other pets. While he hasn't been tested with cats and small dogs, he is eager to learn and adapt. Cedar is truly hoping to finally leave the waiting behind and shower his forever family with love.

While he's made great progress, he would benefit from some reinforcement on proper leash behavior and excitement management-positive training with a no-pull harness and tasty treats will help him thrive. He is currently working on leash training. If you're looking for a loving, playful companion who will bring joy and laughter into your home, Cedar is the perfect match. Come meet him today and see if you can win his heart!
