"SAL" 19 lb (Min Pin?) mix URGENT!! PERMANENT FOSTER NEEDED " OLD Dog Haven"

URGENT - PERMANENT Old Dog Haven FOSTER HOME NEEDED:
(in W. Washington or Portland OR only)

"Sal" looks to be a min pin mix who is very overweight at 19 pounds.
This little guy is said by family to be 14-15 years old, his person passed and he landed in the shelter. He had lived with a smaller brother, but we don't know anything else about his history other than little vet care. He has quite a few ominous medical issues - liver, lots of arthritis in his back, terrible teeth,
heart/lung changes on x-ray - but shelter staff say he's spry and
spunky, social with a little spice, big personality
. We really want to get him out of the shelter and into a home ASAP but we can't do that without a home to send him to!

All of Sal's vet care will be covered by Old Dog Haven, thanks to everyone who donates. This means, his forever foster does not have to worry about bills. If you'd like to welcome this boy into your home and be his forever family, please read through the informational link below and email us at: applications@olddoghaven.org

PLEASE NOTE: We respond to inquiries within 24 hours. If you haven't received an email please check your spam folder.

"FLORENCE" sweet/timid Chihuahua/border collie mix *loves/needs dogs* "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"FLORENCE" is Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Chihuahua/border collie mix, spayed female,

house trained, 2 yrs 24 lb

 Dogs- yes Cats-yes Kids-yes Adoption fee $300

Personality: Affectionate, Gentle, Playful

Florence, our 2 year old 24 pound mix, wants to meet your dogs. So do we, but we digress. Like a lot of us here at Stumptown Strays, Florence's entire existence depends on dogs. Without dog friends, Florence doesn't know what to do with herself. If you've ever gone to a party and spent the whole time playing with the host's chihuahua, then you can relate.

We took in Florence because she was at risk for euthanasia at a very crowded shelter.
She was so shut down and scared that it would have been inhumane to keep her there much longer. We happily sprung her, spayed her, and have spent the last several weeks getting to know what makes Florence tick.

Calling Florence shy may be a bit of an understatement. She tends to cower from strangers and withdraws into herself with changes. However, although she is slow to warm up, once she does, Florence is all snuggles. She will melt into her person and is happiest being carried around like a baby. Florence is so gentle and playful; she would do best with a full basket of toys. She is respectful of cats and would thrive in a home with a patient, quiet family.

Without another dog around, Florence is too scared to go outside and pee. With an emotional support canine friend, Florence is potty trained and loves going on walks. She looks to her dog pack for cues on what to do. If they are eating, then she'll feel safe to eat. If they approach a new person, Florence feels brave enough to tentatively say 'hi'. We are sure with time and stability, Florence will be a totally different dog. She just needs a dog mentor.

Florence is heartworm negative, microchipped, and current on her flea and heartworm preventative.

For the right family, taking a chance on Florence will be so rewarding. Is it you?

Bear has been in foster from the time he was a little pup (due to legal hold) He is well loved and socialized.  The hope is that an equally deserving party will adopt him!

Bear is eager to find a family that appreciates the work and patience involved in raising an adolescent pup. With his playful spirit, Bear is always ready for adventure! He enjoys playing with other dogs and going on long walks, making a securely fenced yard a perfect fit for him to expend some of his abundant energy. Bear is still young and inquisitive, so supervision during playtime is important. Bear has shown great promise in training, learning quickly thanks to his food motivation. He is nearly house-trained, with only occasional accidents, and is proficient in the command "leave it." During a recent outing, his recall was fantastic-he returned for treats with no issues, although he did show a strong prey drive towards birds. He was dog neutral both on and off-leash, but might be too much for small animals or cats. Bear would do well in a home with older children, as his excitement can sometimes be overwhelming-though it's all in good fun! He's a loving companion who enjoys snuggling after a day of play. With his charming personality, Bear is sure to bring joy and laughter into your home. It will be tough to say goodbye, but we know his perfect forever family is waiting just for him!

"SOLO" active affectionate little TERRIER- "OHS- PORTLAND"

Solo is sweet, playful and affectionate dog with his human friends. He can be socially awkward with dogs, and he'll be best as the only pet in an active home

SOLO Available 5/14/2025 "Looks like" Terrier

#326943 $150, neutered male, 6 yrs 17 lbs

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • I have been working with the Behavior and Training team here at OHS for consistency and am looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. You'll need to meet with me multiple times before taking me home.
  •
  • To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.{HAS Specific info for SOLO!}

  • Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.
  • High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.
  • I am used to living an active lifestyle! I would love to get up and go adventure with you.
  • Need a pal to motivate you to get up and go? That's me!
  • I will be your sunshine on rainy days.

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I need to be the only dog in the home.
  • I need a home without cats or other small animals.
  • Loud noises and unpredictable movements can make me uncomfortable, I would do best in a home with calm, older children.

Looking for a charming companion with a heart of gold? Meet Zoey, a delightful 4-year-old poodle mix who is as sweet as can be! This lovely lady is searching for a patient and loving home ready to embrace her unique needs and shower her with affection. Zoey's beautiful coat is a hallmark of her breed, but it does require regular care to keep her comfortable and looking her best. Due to her fur's tendency to mat, routine baths and professional haircuts are a must for Zoey. Think of it as an opportunity for some pampering for your new best friend! Zoey is not currently crate trained and will need a family understanding and willing to work with her on this, or comfortable with alternative arrangements for her safe space. While Zoey is friendly, she requires slow and proper introductions to other dogs in the household. With patience and positive reinforcement, she can learn to coexist peacefully with canine companions, but rushed introductions are not ideal for this sensitive girl. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a sweet affectionate dog, Zoey might just be your perfect match!

Meet Lucy: A Loving Companion Seeking a Special Connection Lucy is a loving and intelligent dog with a big heart and a few quirks that make her uniquely charming!

She absolutely adores being with her people and finds endless joy in playing with toys and splashing in water. Her smarts are evident - she's already mastered "sit" and "shake"! Lucy's bright mind also means she thrives on mental challenges and would benefit greatly from puzzle toys and slow feeders to keep her engaged.

Lucy is looking for a devoted adopter who understands her needs. She would be happiest as the only animal in an adult-only home, where she can soak up all the attention. Lucy does experience separation anxiety and will need patient support with crate training to help her feel comfortable when left alone. She may be a little shy in new situations, needing a little patience and tasty treats to help her feel more comfortable and build confidence. To provide her with a safe outlet for her energy and minimize potentially stressful situations, a securely fenced backyard is highly recommended for Lucy.

If you're an experienced dog lover and you're ready to invest time in training and building a strong bond with a pup who needs a little understanding, Lucy promises to be a loyal and affectionate companion. Open your home to this sweet, smart, and playful girl!💕
