Xena is a friendly and social dog who loves all people, dogs, and cats. She bonds quickly with larger dogs and would thrive in a home with another friendly canine. Xena is very vocal-she "talks" like a seal pup-and is highly intelligent, requiring mental stimulation and enrichment to keep her happily busy. While she enjoys meeting new people, she can be hesitant at first and is easily startled; a patient person who is home often will help her feel secure and confident. She generally well-behaved but is still working on stairs and can be mouthy during play, so training will benefit her. Xena has some separation anxiety and would do best with someone who is patient, calm, and available to spend lots of time with her. She is comfortable in her kennel and even enjoys eating there. She is not food aggressive but prefers to have her food undisturbed by other animals. This sweet girl is looking for a patient, loving family ready to give her the time and attention she needs to blossom into her best self. If you would like to talk to her foster family, apply today!

Bear has been in foster from the time he was a little pup (due to legal hold) He is well loved and socialized.  The hope is that an equally deserving party will adopt him!

Bear is eager to find a family that appreciates the work and patience involved in raising an adolescent pup. With his playful spirit, Bear is always ready for adventure! He enjoys playing with other dogs and going on long walks, making a securely fenced yard a perfect fit for him to expend some of his abundant energy. Bear is still young and inquisitive, so supervision during playtime is important. Bear has shown great promise in training, learning quickly thanks to his food motivation. He is nearly house-trained, with only occasional accidents, and is proficient in the command "leave it." During a recent outing, his recall was fantastic-he returned for treats with no issues, although he did show a strong prey drive towards birds. He was dog neutral both on and off-leash, but might be too much for small animals or cats. Bear would do well in a home with older children, as his excitement can sometimes be overwhelming-though it's all in good fun! He's a loving companion who enjoys snuggling after a day of play. With his charming personality, Bear is sure to bring joy and laughter into your home. It will be tough to say goodbye, but we know his perfect forever family is waiting just for him!

"PEARL" timid, tiny, snuggly CHIWEENIE mix "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

 UPDATE 6/6/25 ADOPTION PENDING

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"PEARL" is Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Stumptown Strays Facebook  PEARL plus video

Chiweenie mix, spayed female, housetrained, 8 yrs 6 lbs

ok with Dogs, ok with Cats,  Kids no  Adoption fee $400

Personality: Quiet, Gentle, Independent, Loves, Affectionate

Pearl, our 6 pound 8 year old chiweenie, is breed-standard (yes, we know a chiweenie isn't a breed). She divides her time between available laps, warm sun spots, and under the covers. If you've ever known a chiweenie, you're probably a fan (we certainly are). And, if you've ever known a chiweenie, you also know they need an extensive sweater collection. Our Pearl is ready for her own home; hopefully one with a wardrobe ready.

Found stray, Pearl was very sick. No one had bothered to spay her and her uterus was infected. The shelter reached out to us for help. Pearl's finally recovered from that infection; she's spayed and we also addressed her dental issues. Although Pearl had to lose a few "pearly-whites" (they weren't actually white and were pretty gross), she eats much better without them.

Crate trained, potty trained and quiet, Pearl is easy to have around. It took her a few days to warm up to the other dogs in her foster home (she's tiny and was a bit overwhelmed), but now she loves them. We think she'd be fine in a home with other patient dogs. Although we haven't seen her with cats, we suspect a dog savvy cat would also be fine.

Pearl is a happy, snuggly dog. She does like the quiet, and needs a secure yard to potty in (shy bladder - can't go while on leash). Walks can be a little scary, so a calm neighborhood would be best as would an adopter willing to periodically carry her. Pearl is reserved and will take a bit to come out of her shell. For that reason, older kids only in her home.

Pearl is heartworm negative and is current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.

Spay your dogs people. It can kill them if you don't.

Have room for 6 pounds of chiweenie under your comforter?

Interested?
