"MEELA" loving adult German Shepherd "Humane Society SW Washington - Vancouver

UPDATE 4/7/25 ADOPTED or on hold

"MEELAAvailable for Adoption at the HUMANE SOCIETY OF SW WASHINGTON- Vancouver

MEELA, 164986  spayed female, 8 yrs 2mth 76 lb

German Shepherd

Great news! My adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me and wants me to find a great home.

I'm not on the general adoption floor. You might not see me when you come to visit. So please speak to an adoption counselor if you'd like to meet me.

I would do best with a family experienced with my breed. I have some behaviors that are typical for my breed and would do best with a family who understands my needs.

I'd like a relaxed home. I wouldn't say I'm "old"... I've just been around for a while. And that's made me appreciate the finer things in life like naps in the sun, looking out windows, and the special joy when you're able to scratch juuuuust the right spot. I like to take it easy at home - I'm not up for lots of activity.

I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org.

"DAVE "AVAILABLE FOR Adoption at Oregon Humane Society  in Portland

Available 3/26/2025   Animal ID #322081

"Looks like"Doberman"  neutered male, 3 yrs 1 mth 69 lbs   adoption $300

  • I have been working with the Behavior and Training team here at OHS for consistency and am looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. You'll need to meet with me multiple times before taking me home.
  • To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.
  • I am part of the special rescue effort to help shelters in California that were impacted by the L.A. wildfires.
  • I hope you're a fan of comedy, because my goofy personality is sure to make you smile!
  • Someone very familiar with canine body language is a must for me. Therefore, I may not be the best option for a first-time dog owner. Then again, if you are willing to put in the work, then let's roll the dice and see where this adventure takes us.
  • Making new friends is so much fun! I'm a very social and confident guy.
  • I love to be around people! I'd make a great buddy for curling up on the couch to watch a movie.
  • Stick a bandana on me and let's go check those hikes off your bucket list!
  • I need to go to a home without small children.
  • I would flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.
  • I need a home without cats or other small animals.
  • I need to be the only dog in the home.
  • My energy and size can be a lot for little kids, but I would do great with older, dog-savvy children.

Note: I'm a favorite of staff and volunteers

"CANDI" up for a drive? gentle, big floppy earred MIXgood with finder's cats, dogs , chickens "YAKIMA HUMANE SOCIETY

UPDATE 4/7/25 ADOPTED or on hold

Yakima Humane Societ

Dogs on their website   https://yakimahumane.org/adopt/dogs/

Yakima, WA is a long drive from Portland, but the Yakima Humane Society seems like a decent animal shelter that could use a boost for attention.   They spay/neuter all their adoption pets and try to do adequate adoption screening (which is more than can be currently said of Mult County animal shelter!)

CANDI intake 3/31/25  Pet id 57996071 Adoption fee $125

"Listed as" Shepherd/hound, female, 8 yrs, 23 days 55 lbs

Meet Candi, an eight year old Shepherd/Hound mix weighing around 55 pounds.

Candi was found running around and thankfully her finders were able to bring her in to us. If you are looking for a sweetheart of a dog with a gentle disposition and soul then Candi is your girl. She has the softest fur and beautiful floppy ears. When you scratch her booty she backs it up into you and then leans against you while giving you her soulful eyes. She wasn't too fond of the camera so it was hard to picture her but she is one you have to meet in person and you will most definitely fall in love. Her finders said she road well in their car but did hop a four foot fence when left outside. We imagine she was just looking for her people as she very much enjoys being around people. She met dogs, cats and chickens while with her finders and did great with them all. Candi walks well on her leash and is just the most perfect girl.

This pet is available for adoption on 3/14/2025 at 11:20 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.

Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT?
That's where you and the pet make sure you're a good fit for one another by having a fun sleepover prior to finalizing your adoption. It's a win-win for everyone! Just ask our front desk staff about how it works.

Interested in adopting this or another YHS pet?
Please complete our adoption questionnaire found at: https://yakimahumane.org/adopt/apply/

Our adoption fee includes a lovable companion, spay/neuter, vaccinations and intestinal worming, flea/tick treatment, rabies vaccine (for pets over 3-4 months of age) and a microchip with nationwide registration. Your adoption fee helps support YHS and our spay/neuter efforts in the community to end overpopulation of cats and dogs.

If you have any questions, please e-mail us at adoption@yakimahumane.org.

"FLIPPER" MINI Shaggy playful mix "STUMPTOWN STRAYS

UPDATE 4/6/25  ADOPTED or on hold

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"FLIPPER"(plus video!) is Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Miniature Poodle, spayed female, house trained, 2 yrs 10 lbs

 Dogs- yes Cats-unknown Kids-older Adoption fee $500

Personality: Brave, Curious, Funny, Playful, Affectionate

Flipper, our 2 year old 10 pound miniature poodle, is not afraid of heights. She will bravely launch herself off furniture as if she has wings. Flipper does not have wings. In fact, we're pretty sure trying to fly is how Flipper ended up with two broken front legs. No one said that bravery and common sense go hand in hand (or paw in paw).

Flipper was found in a kennel by the road. She was very thin, and as we mentioned, had two broken front legs. The fractures were old, so they had healed, but in such a way that her front legs were bent and she had to walk on the end of her broken bones. Despite her condition, Flipper was joyful and courageous. We took her in from the shelter, and thanks to @1510Foundation for covering Flipper's care in its entirety, we were able to get her in to see the team at @MedVet Vancouver. There, her legs were repaired with plates and bone-grafts.

After several months of healing, Flipper can now do what any other dog can do. Where as she used to be very limited, Flipper can run and zoom with the best of them. She is quite playful, and would thrive with another playful dog. Flipper loves toys, and likely requires a box of rotating stuffies in her new home.

Flipper is very friendly to the people she knows. It can take her a minute, though, to warm up to strangers. Once she does, she is snuggly and sweet. Because of her stranger-danger, we don't recommend Flipper go to a home with small kids. She is house and crate trained. Flipper loves to go on a walk. Since she was so restricted for so long, she also likes telling everyone she sees that she's on a walk. Flipper needs to work on this. She's silly, strong-willed, and has mastered the judgmental side-eye.

Flipper is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.

It has been a delight watching this curly daredevil transform into a healthy dog with straight, pain-free legs. Think yours is the home for Flipper?
